I was watching an old episode of Spicks and Specks (an Australian Music quiz program) and they had a guest on called Tony Mott. He was a famous music photographer. He was saying that he photographed Fleetwood Mac when they "lived" in Melbourne. I didn't know they lived in Melbourne for a time? Anyway, he was scheduled to photograph Stevie Nicks at a rehearsal at one of the entertainment centres and she kept asking "what gate" they were doing the photos at. He didn't understand what she meant, until someone whispered to him that "she thought she was at the airport". Anyone got any pics from these sessions???

I know Mick said in his book that he bought a giant ranch down there in I believe the early '80s (might have been late '70s). I've been skimming through his book now for a while, and can't seem to find where he talked about it.

This was in the book. I didn't see any other Melbourne references.

I had been enchanted with the idea of living in
Australia ever since going there on the early
Fleetwood Mac tours. There's only fourteen
million people on the continent. I'd look around
and get a lost-frontier sort of feeling, like
California must have felt sixty years ago. There
are great modern cities where for three weeks
we played to immense crowds forty-eight
thousand in Sydney, sixty thousand at a
Melbourne racetrack with Santana opening but
you go five miles out in the sticks and there's no
one there. To me, it was paradise.

* * *

Yet I didn't care. The more time I spent
touring the outback, the more I loved Australia.
Between gigs I began to look at property. On
March 16, 1980, I signed an agreement to buy a
huge stud farm near Sydney for three million
dollars.

The property was called Wendsley Dale. It was
a colonial homestead with a mansion house and
ranch on 620 acres at a spot called Colo Vale. It
was gorgeous, and protected as a historic
landmark. There was a good-sized herd of cattle
and the whole place functioned nicely as an
ongoing bull-breeding concern. I was in heaven,
but I knew I was stretching myself thin
financially. All my money was now tied up in real
estate in Hawaii, California, and Australia, and I
had bought these properties at the absolute top
of the market at astronomical interest rates. In
the back of my mind I began to worry about
making the mortgage payments, because I could
see that our touring expenses were so high we
weren't going to earn much from this tour. We
expected to sell a lot of records to compensate. I
had a business manager, an old school chum of
Richard Dashut's, but he told me not to worry
about it, so I didn't.

I think he said the same thing in his book.

You can see some pics of the band on his site tonymott.com They're 1990 photos.

I hope Mick comes back and invites everyone with him!
I was also wondering if they are going to go to Kinglake? (Were the fires where)

Could it be from this shoot? I think I have the rest of the pics somewhere, and it kinda looks like they're in an airport.

Lindsey's gaze is adorable. If we could only see Christine's face, it'd be quite a fivesome.

This is a photo by Sam Emerson, and that background is fake.
