I'm just wondering who on this board has seen this film and what do they think of it? The plot sounds great! I want to buy it but wouldn't mind a few recommendations from Stevie fans first.

For those who haven't heard of it here's the imdb link:

I had a watching party at my house w/ a couple of other Ledgies - it was fun!

I think it's a good movie, and a must-have for Stevie fans, although I wish more Stevie-penned tunes were included.

lol...I'm probably going to be in the minority about this but I didn't like it at all. I thought it was sort of slow and not very well written. Then I heard the comment Sara Rue made about Stevie which just cemented my dislike for it. :sorry:

Is there a video of Sare Rue saying the thing she said about Stevie?

I love the movie, myself. The only thing I would improve on, if I could, would be that I wish Stevie had given them use of her songs (the director tried, both for this and his earlier movie "Edge Of Seventeen" (also absolutely loved that one!) but they/she wouldn't release the rights for them to use...

Have had a couple of 'Gypsy 83' viewings with other friends, and everyone has loved it that I played it for...

It’s the kind of movie that is meant to be seen with a group of friends or in a theatre. The first time I saw it was in a theatre in DC with a gay audience. The moment she stepped out of the car and you saw the platform boot, the crowd busted out laughing. I knew it was going to be special and it was, but as a few others pointed out, the only flaw was that Stevie’s music wasn’t allowed to be used in the film.

YES! I saw it first in NYC, I believe it was the premiere...it was at my very favorite theater in the Village, The Quad, the director and some of the actors were there, and the crowd was a mixture of gays and tambo&shawl-heads, PERFECT ... and yes, that boot scene kicked (OUCH! sorry - couldn't resist:rolleyes:) the whole thing off with a bang!
