One of the Fleetwood Mac's most obscure song is certainly "Trinity" (Danny Kirwan).
What can you say about that song, were you still in the band when it was written/recorded?
Cheers,
Mario.

Isn't Trinity an outtake from 'Future Games' in 1971?? So would've been recorded after Jeremy left.

I'm almost sure I've got a live tape from late 1969 which feature that song.....

Really?? I'd be intrigued to hear that.
I think it's a great tune and was surprised that it never turned up on one of Danny's solo albums.

I love Trinity.
I love Trinity.
Would you be able to put it up here (as long as it's not commercially available)? I can't believe I've never heard of this song before.

It's on The Chain boxset and 2cd compilation. You could search around some blog sites and should be able to find to download.

Thing is, if it was from 1969 you would have expected it to have been included on 'Kiln House.' I'm still shocked it didnt make any album release until 'The Chain.' It is a very good track.

There were a handful of songs that never made it to an album from this era that were performed on stage. From Kirwan alone there's "One Sided Love", "Loving Kind", "Only You" (I think that was recorded after he left FM), and I'm probably missing another. "Trinity" has slide guitar early in the song, so it may have been recorded prior to 2/71. It's certainly edgier than any Future Games Kirwan penned song.

never heard it or of it. Doesn't mean I wasn't in the band though when he recorded it. But if a live recording of it exists, then I most likely wasn't.

Thanks Jeremy.
Bootleg tapes are too often mislabeled, I found the tape today, I played it and it is a 1969 show in Essen Germany, plus 2 more tracks - including "Trinity" from a later gig, possibly in 1971/1972.
Mario.
ps: if you want to hear the song, then it's available on the 4 cds boxet "The Chain":D

Jeremy, the word "Trinity" never appears in the song. The chorus is "Oh on his way, he had to go. Oh on his way." It sounds like you slide.
As for the 1969 boot, that's likely a 1971 boot from early in Bob Welch's tenure, as there is no slide. I have a show from Germany right around the time of Future Games.
How this masterpiece sat in the vaults until 1992 is a mystery. I was hesitant on the box, and a friend said to get it for that song, the new Christine McVie songs, and some of the Lindsey Mirage outtakes. Good call.
Now, if only they'd reissue Jeremy's "solo" album that was actually a Fleetwood Mac album.

Well assuming you mean the one from 1970, I have it on CD. Not sure if it was an official release though, but it says 2007 on the disc.

Hmmm...I always heard it as Chelsea, but okay.
I've always heard it as "He came down from Trinity......." but not having seen the lyrics it could be my subconscious hearing it because of the title! I did also think it was Jeremy playing slide. The sleevenotes of 'The Chain' just say it is an unreleased song from 1971 with no other info on the track. It does sound like Kirwan of the Kiln House era too.
Anyway, definitely one of my favourite Kirwan songs.

Well a quick copy of these from a lyrics site:
He came down from Trinity
a mid-town boy from home
In the dirt walking miles before
and dreaming of his thirst
Oh, on his way
he had to go
Oh, on his way
he had to go
He came down from Trinity
a mid-town boy from home
In the dirt walking miles before
and dreaming of his thirst
Oh, on his way
he had to go
Oh, on his way

The annoying thing about that Chain 2CD/boxset is the lack of session information. Who were the musician, where/when was it recorded.
Actually, thinking about it………..isn’t there a Fleetwood Mac sessionography book out there?? I’m sure I’ve seen one on Amazon. Surely that would give the details of who was involved?

I guess that'd be the Peter Lewry book but all it says for this song is what we know which is nothing, they lumped it in to the Bare Trees sessions but I don't know about that. Originally I thought it made sense since Danny seemed to get a little harder edge by then, more rough blues riff orientated like Child Of Mine, Danny's Chant etc. but it seems like it should be earlier than that for some reason, can't put my finger on it, hopefully we'll find out for certain someday though. :)
