I've always wanted to know what it would have been like if they hadn't cut any of the verses or the ad libs at the end of Sara. As much as I love the infamous Cleaning Lady demo, I adore Lindsey's jangly guitar sounds and the lush chorus singing "oooh, Sara" at the end. So what the hell, I mixed them together. I got a really cool bit of software that can pull vocals from songs, it doesn't work on all songs but a lot of older stuff usually works pretty well with it. So I took the instrumental version of the album cut, repeated a few parts where the demo had been edited, and layered the two together. My favorite part of Lindsey's is where Stevie sings "But now it's gone... they say it doesn't matter anymore" and his guitar does this gorgeous accent on the vocals and when I repeated the music at the end for the extended ad lib that part it came up again right over "All I ever wanted..." and I have to say it gives a really nice emotional punch to one of my favorite lines Stevie has ever sung. Plus, the "oooh, Sara" cooing over the "Wind became craaaaaaaazy" part at the end is really nice too. I've messed around with it for a while and this seems to be the best I can do. Let me know what you guys think.

When you click on the link you should see a video screen, like you do on YouTube. At the top of the video you'll see the words "Download This File". Click on those words and "wait a minute, baby". Your download should start soon after that.

Hey,

I really enjoyed this. Sara is my favourite FM song and I love all the different versions. You've combined the best of both here : the demo - those fantastic backing vocals - and the lush production of the Tusk version. Well done you & thanks very much for sharing your work. I'll be playing this a lot!

Um.. I read my second post and thought to myself, how winy and needy do I sound??? LOL! I post stuff in case someone might like it, I shouldn't be wining for praise. Sorry guys, that was bad judgment on my part.

Having said that, I'm thrilled that you guys enjoyed it. I had wanted to do that mix for a long time but never had the technology to do it before. I'm glad you guys liked it. :)
