NY Post mention:
March 21, 2009 --
THAT on Monday the Rusty Knot the hole-in-the-wall bar on the West Side highway owned by Jay-Z, U2 manager Paul McGuinness, Ken Friedman and Taavo Somer is celebrating its first anniversary with 99-cent drinks . . . THAT "90210" stars Shannen Doherty and AnnaLynne McCord will launch the new Naturally Victo ria's Secret beauty product at the chain's outlet at The Grove in LA today . . . Wow, this is totally unexpected. I really hope B&N really know what they are getting themselves into with this. Security and crowd control are gonna be a nightmare.
Damn, I really wish I could be there. The line is gonna be long on this one though, but still would be cool to experience, even if it is for a brief moment for a quick hello and signature.
Have I said this is totally unexpected? But very well appreciated that she is doing this. Wow.
I hope someone is lucky enough to snap a few pics, even if it is with a cell phone to post here.

I will cut the b***h who denies me my signed litho!  It is, however, technically Soundstage-related memorabilia, so ...
Seriously though... this is going to be a mob scene of epic proportions. It's even going to put the reunited Golden Girls DVD signing to shame. I wouldn't be surprised if they use Union Square park as a herding pen to keep out the thousands that show up...

They dont ever televise these things, do they? I know when Howard Stern did a book signing it was all over the news, but I've never seen any since, not that I have paid attention. All I need is for my boss or one of my asshole coworkers to be watching tv and to spot my fat ass on line when I claim to be home sick!

Oh, you will turn to mush when you get there, mumbling something about wanting a Bella Donna remaster.
Mick must have told her about these things and she decided she wanted to do it too. When she said she is proud of this CD/DVD she really means it, to do this.
This means she's got to do it in California too. I'm not going to go, because I just have no patience for lines or militaristic book store personnel. But it is very exciting.

you know if she did like a 10 date signing tour for this dvd/cd she would sell a ton of copies. there are so many people that i know that would love to meet her and would buy anything just to do it. i just wish there was a way to go to ny to get her autograph. my mother in law would absolutely love that. it would be a great birthday gift for her. i am sure if i met her i probably wouldnt be able to speak. i would look like such an ass. my hubby drags me to all kinds of sports signings and i never have anything to say to those people. i always feel stupid, ha!
we were at heinz field the one day for a rocky blier signing and we waited for a few hours to meet him and just as it was our turn the lady that was organizing the signing told us that he had to go and that there would be no more singings. my hubby was so pissed that he told her he didnt care and that he waited for hours to get rocky's signature and he was going to get it. so he pretty much pushed her out of the way and went right up to him. he was more than happy to sign his stuff and after we left i saw others did the same thing. i understand people have schedules but there wasnt that many people left in the line and that lady didnt have to be so rude.

Good question. They had some sort of deal with NBC the last time around, right? They did Dateline and had the song on Friends and something else (Third World?). Maybe that's what got them on Leno for 2 nights.
But why can't they do Letterman anymore? I thought he liked them once upon a time! Michele

If anyone is feeling intimidated by bring up the SOTM subject with her - or if there's no time.... Why not write something, stick it in an envelope and just leave it for her at the table... She'll likely get a kick out of reading some of the pleading within...
Note to Karen: Get yourself some sort of suggestion box for people to drop in their envelopes.

I've never posted before this brought me out! This is so exciting! I live in NYC so this is incredibly exciting. I have to say, though, after having stood in line for several other artists at this partiular store....this is gonna be crazy. Am I right to say that getting in line 12 to 14 hours beforehand would be a good idea??

If anyone is feeling intimidated by bring up the SOTM subject with her - or if there's no time.... Why not write something, stick it in an envelope and just leave it for her at the table...Better yet, why not just sort of quietly hum or sing the opening verse while Stevie is signing your DVD?
And then sigh deeply, look upward at nothing in particular, & mumble, as if to yourself: "Ahhh...to hear Sisters of the Moon again one day."
Then snap back to the moment, as if you were done daydreaming.
She'll get it.

GREAT idea!!!!!! I was going to ask if any one knows how soon the line starts forming for something like this, as I have several friend's going! LUCKY! LOLOL.. Is it the night before, or early in the day???
True Faith, I saw you went for Mick's signing, and sorry for the yucky thing that happened to you.. - but do you know if/ when the line starts forming for something like this?? And I know there's going to be a LOT more people there, then for Mick.. (no offense to any Mick people- as we don't wanna go there again..)
If anyone knows the answer this this, it would be SOOOOO helpful!!

may i suggest that any ledgies going to this signing all wear T-Shirts with big writing "We Want you to Play Sisters of the Moon Stevie!" since i doubt there will be time for actual spoken words, this would be an awseome subliminal or i guess unsubliminal message to Mama that we WANT her to do that song.

Honestly, these things are so well organized that there really isn't any danger of being run over or hurt in any way. The only major inconvenience is the wait...

I saw Tori Amos at this store a few years ago following the release of an album and book. I got there at 6am for the 6pm signing and I wasn't first in line....probably
20th or so. They let people into the store once it was opened. They hold events on the top floor. There are chairs set up (although they won't let you sit in them til its almost time for the event-and most people end up standing) infront of a small stage with a table and chair where the person signing sits. You walk up on the stage, get a signature and you're escorted off. You're literally sitting in the store, on the floor in the book aisles. The wait is agonizing, but worth it. My fear is that 12 hours won't be early enough. I don't think B&N understands what they've gotten themselves into. And I believe there were wristbands involved, etc. That's a possiblity.
SandyMac

Yeah, I hope they know how much of a crowd Stevie can still draw. Especially at something like this. They might be thinking, oh ok Stevie Nicks CD signing... ok, she was popular, but not like today's young artists... well.. they have a rude awaking because if Stevie is in da house, there is going to be a lot of excitement there.
Wow, I wonder what she will wear... Basic black or maybe she will surprise us.. doubt it, but you never know. Hope she does the waves in her hair.
I know there is not much time involved for each person at the table, but hope she gets enough hints verbally or written that we all want SOTM. I mean is the song really that difficult now for her to sing? I guess Stevie does as Stevie wants, but she would make so many fans so very happy.
Or as a pointed question that requires a yes or no answer really quick... like Is the Rhiannon Movie going to get released in the next 5 years? yes or no? LOL. Like she would answer, but a fun question to try to ask.
You know, the moment would be fleeting, but I still would be so nervous standing there right in front of Stevie, so if anyone does get in a question or comment, I give a lot of credit to those people. I really want to say... you still got it, go in the studio and record another kick ass Fleetwood Mac or solo record. You still kick ass on stage. or something like.. looking forward to hearing more music from you in the years to come.
Wow, to wait 12 or 13 hours for this.... but wow, it is a "Stevie event" and I imagine there will be a lot of cool fans there.
Now see if she is signing stuff like this, why did we only get offered a "handful" of signed lithographs with our online order for this CD/DVD? She should sign an extra 500 or so CD covers and make those available to fans via her web site, through B&N or something. Like a code to put in for ordering or something. ahhhh, just thinking out loud I guess....

Thanks for the info. I was wondering what would be a good time to plant myself in B&N. If you leave the store, do you lose your place in line? What did you do for food? I want to be as prepared for this as I can! LOL. And I agree, I don't think B&N have any idea the kind of hell they've brought on themselves. NYC is the home to NOTS, after all.

Actually I'd like to hear "Crystal" more. It's got Stevie/ Lindsey duet written all over it. Stevie could pull that song off without a hitch. I HIGHLY doubt that if she did SOTM, it would resemble anything close to what we see on the Mirage video. At least not from a Stevie vocal or peformance standpoint. The boys could still rock the shit out of that song though.

I like the idea that she's doing this, because you actually get to meet her and her signature would be more personal to you. Quite a "noble" thing she's doing... GET IT? NOBLE????
LOL, yes noble. I know, but it does seem like this whole litho signature thing was just not handled right. Believe me if for some reason she came to Washington DC, I would be on the metro so fast from Virginia to get a sig.
With a limited amount of time and so many people though, I can see why they would want to keep the line moving as fast as possible so everyone hopefully has a chance to get a sig. Hope Stevie is prepared to get writers cramp, she may need a hand/wrist massage when this is all said and done.

Thanks so much for the information.. That's what I posted in wanting to find out as well.. I have a feeling my friend's will be "camping out" the night before.. from what they said.

Thanks again for the info!
I am still trying to figure out what a good arrival time is! I'm just scared to get there too late. I left the store....its in Union Square and if you're not familiar with that, well there are a million food places, stores, etc in the area. Once you've been in line with the same people for a few hours you will feel comfortable to get up and take a break. People will hold your spot. And for that reason its best to go with friends if you can, but if that's not possible I'm sure people from this site will help you! It's gonna be nuts....

Honestly, these things are so well organized that there really isn't any danger of being run over or hurt in any way. The only major inconvenience is the wait...
:o
I'm going to have to miss this one out anyway. I can't stand for more then 5 mins anyway and if I sit in the floor there's no way I will be able to get back up lol
It's okay. I'll be happy when my preorder's of her new releases are in my hands

I think this BN is going to be a bit of a disaster.....I don't know. I hope I'm wrong. I can see the crowds of people being rushed to hurry up not even being able to say more then 5 words to Stevie. Most likely she will only sign the DVD or CD not any other item. I would be more happier if she had an official myspace talking to fans or a great official site where she speaks to fans bi weekly. Sorta like what Jane Fonda does (janefonda.com) :P

I think it's rather odd that she would still be on the East Coast on this date- the tour doesn't resume in Philly until April 15, so you would think she would be back home in LA for those three weeks after Canada. Plus it's not like she's scheduled to appear on any of the talk shows (yet?). I would imagine that she has to hit at least one or two of the morning shows and/or Letterman or Jimmy Fallon, etc. I mean, isn't that the purpose of this little tour break- that Stevie can go and promote the mess out of the CD/DVD?

one would think. I originally thought the timing of the Soundstage release and the FM tour was a good marketing strategy and I still do but I almost wish she wasn't on tour so she could do a full on promotional schedule. It is a big deal since her last solo show was Red Rocks, 23 years ago and being that she's so proud of it, I imagine she would want to promote it as much as possible. I do hope she will squeeze in a few appearances during the break.

Speaking of which, wouldn't it have been awesome if FM did something, anything spontaneous on this tour, like performing "Empire State" at MSG? I'm sure Lindsey could have just done it acoustically- instead of "Big Love." Heck, I'd even be thrilled with "Illume."

I think Stevie is trying a new way to promote. Maybe someone is reading
the post and hey meeting the fans and signing the cd's isn't this what the fans
have been wanting. But I think after a couple of hundred people, Stevie
will be signing fast. So for the first 100 they will get Stevie's attention...
And good luck to all. If I was going I wouldn't get there until 6 pm and that
is way to late....
Good luck to all

You could say things like, "Wasn't Lindsey making you so mad in that one scene? When he called Tony and said 'people are pointing fingers at us,' didn't you just want to smack him? He knows you are dead honest, but he was still being all crazy . . ."
Then, she'd get all into the conversation and forget about Stevie. You could just pick her up and carry her off while Karen's back is turned.

When I saw Tori Amos personal pictures weren't allowed, but I took tons while waiting in line, etc. Not to defend them, but if tons and tons of people show up and everyone wanted a picture with her they run the risk of not getting autographs for everybody. I like the idea of the person behind you in line taking pictures of you while you're getting your autograph.

As far as "NO PICTURES" I think they mean no POSED pics with Stevie... we went to an Ina Garten book signing and they said no pictures, but we could take them while we were in line (on of the people working there actually offered to take our camera and took pics of us while we were at the table, but they didnt turn out too well...)

Little post for anyone who might be going to "the big city" for the first time and might be feeling nervous about it -
I'd like to suggest picking an easy-to-find place to meet in case someone gets separated. Maybe I'm stating the obvious there - but it really is "the big city" and it might be "a smart thing to do," as the saying goes. And it really is easy to get separated, especially when you're sightseeing - it literally happens every day there.
But really, it's nice these days - it's a lot "cleaner" than it used to be. Just remember that it's the big city. And watch for traffic, too - especially crossing the street - there can be a "Walk" sign and you can still have taxicabs speeding through a right turn. That actually (i.m.o.) is the most dangerous part of the traffic in Manhattan - people see the "Walk" sign and start crossing, not realizing there's still traffic making a right turn.
But anyway, here's wishing you guys a FUN DAY!!! :p :]
P.S. - It's REALLY easy to get re-located if you get lost, in Manhattan. ALL the North-South streets are easy to get to using the East-West ones. Just know whether you're south of Central Park or not - the Southern boundary of Central Park is at about 60th Street. The numbers increase going from South to North.
So if you're below the number 60, just head in the direction that the numbers start increasing as you're walking. That'll get you to Central Park, and you can get re-situated from there. The best landmark to use might be the Empire State Building; that's about 25 blocks south of Central Park (on or near the corner of 34th Street and Fifth Avenue, I believe.)
Be careful with the subways, they usually or always have the same numbers going south and north, but they're separate trains on separate tracks or even separate platforms. Crime-wise they're pretty safe these days though; just crowded.

I hope she comes back to Chicago to do a signing! I would think maybe she would since it was filmed in Chicago... SO jealous of the East Coast right now!
As far as cameras, almost everyone has a camera on their cell phones these days, so I wouldn't think they would be able to stop anyone from taking pictures while in line. I could be wrong, because I've never been to a signing like this before, but someone mentioned it probably meant no posed pictures which seems like it might be more likely.

On my way to the airport, the cab was playing a video advertising she would be at B&N doing the signing and the cab driver was being a total chatterbox and I was like "You're going to need to pause... Stevie's on right now and I since I can't go to the signing, watching an advertisement for the signing while I'm actually in NY is about as close as I'm going to get."

There's a strict no pictures policy in place! We're told that stevie is kinda freaked out by this type of situation.

so you cant take any pictures while she is up there signing? well that sucks, i figured it just meant you cant take any pictures with her when you are up there. i wonder why she is so freaked out. you think she would be so excited to talk with the fans and stuff.
