The setlist was amazing. Stevie and the band amazing. All of their greatest hits were sung. I HATED the audience. I know that is a harsh word. Here is why. Everyone and I mean everyone was sitting down for the whole show except the very end. They were even sitting when they played Oh Well. I was standing cause I wanted to dance and enjoy the show and everbody was yelling at me. It kind of ruined my night. I've been dreaming of seeing them since I was fourteen. I'm devestated. Are all Fleetwood Mac concerts like that meaning does their audience just sit down for the whole show?

NYC/MSG is always a well heeled and/or industry crowd, especially for a veteran act like Fleetwood Mac.

Washington DC on the floor at least, the majority of people were standing. Some sat during the lesser known or slower songs, but then got right back up for GDW or Don't Stop or whatever, so it really depends on who is going and what venue.
I am with you though, you can't go to a Fleetwood Mac show and just sit there. Their music is to dance and rock out to. The music just moves you.

We scored 5th row about 3 hours before the show, at the box office. I'm still in overjoyed shock. :blob2:
This was my first show since the Say You Will Tour.
Of course, there were a pair of guys with no interest in the show who were behind me, talking loudly, constantly. Ruining it. I should have spoken up sooner, but I waited until about 8-10 songs into the set before I implored them to hush, and they were good. I was in HELL before then. (Punctuated by moments of sheer FM bliss.)
Everyone in my section was standing up pretty much throughout. So sorry to hear of others who were told to sit down, that SUCKS!
Well, my life will never be the same. I am SO wired by their performance that I can't sleep.
The Mac were fricking brilliant. They rocked MSG.
You've not lived life until you have 20,000 people around you dancing and singing "Go Your Own Way" and "Don't Stop".
The set was pretty radical for them, with four arching video screen trusses moving around overhead, a la Trans-Siberian Orchestra.
Lindsey, of course, was his usual brilliant guitar virtuoso self last night. I don't know where that man gets his energy from. He was on FIRE.
And Stevie has NEVER sounded better. She looks absolutely fabulous. She sang like a bird.
Lindsey and Stevie's harmonies were riveting. You know how certain voices just 'click' together in their harmonies, like Simon & Garfunkel? Linds' and Stevie's voices are like that. Exquisite harmonies together. Buckingham/ Nicks was alive and well!
John McVie was his usual understated monster bass player self, and Mick Fleetwood did an absolutely amazing, energizing, drum solo. The man's a manic drum genius.
They did the band's hits, as well as Stevie's and Lindsey's hits.
Very nice mix of upbeat pop, slow ballads, hard rock, and super-hard head-banger rock.
They did 'Storms', which I was not expecting, which they never played live before. I turned to someone afterwards and said, "I could get hit by a truck now, and it would be OK, because my life is now complete."
Stevie did the most tremendous performance of "Silver Springs" I have EVER seen her give, and I've seen a number of tours.
She put her "Dance" performance to utter shame. It was 3-4 times better than that.
Her eyes got angrier, more hurt and darker with each word she sang, until they were almost black. I was almost in tears for her by the end.
It really brought to mind her line, "The timeless face of a rock and roll woman while her heart breaks." Her heart was breaking, and we were the awed witnesses.
After she sang the last word, my legs sort of gave out and I collapsed into my chair, stunned.
Wonderful, all of it. I'm in heaven.
"And on the 8th day, God created Fleetwood Mac."
Amen.

Great review. Sounds like you exercised remarkable self-restraint and avoided all setlist spoilers before the show. That must be the best way to go. I never have enough discipline to do it myself, but what a surprise that must enhance the whole concert. So many of us wonder what it would have been like to go to the show and not know that Storms were coming. No wonder you were too wound up to go to sleep afterwards. But when you do drop off, there are bound to be sweet dreams.
Thanks for your descriptions.

Great review!! I can't imangine SS being any better than The Dance so I'm psyched to hear that. It's a shame about those two guys behind you. I will never for the life of me understand why people go to a live show and talk the whole way through it. It irritates me to no end. If you don't care about the music or the performance, don't go. Sit home and chat 'til your hearts content but don't sit there and ruin another person's experience who actually came to LISTEN to the band that's playing.
Anyway, glad the show was so awesome!

I must admit though that I did have a full circle moment at this concert. When I was 16 I sang Rhiannon at school. I practiced it constantly and went everywhere looking for Stevieesque clothing. We rocked. I was exiled to the gate entrance because no one was letting me dance in my seat, I was standing there with this young guy who was also exiled. Rhiannon came on I whipped out my shawl and started twirling right there in front of everyone with this guy and he yelled " I fricken love you. Who the hell DOES NOT do this at a FM concert"

I was at the Garden last night and I can't believe the contrast of this show compared to Mohegan's show. Tonight was AWESOME!!!! At the Mohegan show I said that Lindsey stole the limelight, but I think Stevie was the star tonight. Don't get me wrong Lindsey was brilliant but I thought Stevie was flawless on all her vocals tonight. First of all the sound system at the Garden is 100 times better than Mohegan's echo chamber. Her vocals on Silver Springs were breathtaking...she sung it with so much feeling and conviction. She had great chemistry with the crowd and boy do they really love her. Stand Back really had everybody dancing. I have seen her perform Gold Dust Woman twice now in 5 days and both times she sang it flawlessly. Go Your Own Way was magnificent. I am so glad I went tonight after being somewhat disappointed at Mohegan Sun. The crowd was really into it from beginning to end. I had seats in Section 60 which were located on Stevie's side. A lot of Stevie fans in that section. They were up and standing on most of her songs. To reiterate what Gypsy posted earlier Silver Springs was unbelievable. Its hard to put in words but I'm glad someone else noticed her awesome vocal on that song. It was a perfect way to end the night. If anyone thinks Stevie is done they need to listen to her performance tonight. I can not find a negative thing to say tonight. AWESOME, AWESOME show tonight.!!!

Yes, I DID exercise restraint in not learning what the set list was beforehand.
Which made it SO much more enjoyable. In not knowing what to expect, everything was a fresh surprise.
Especially (spoiler here, like everyone doesn't know already ;)) when they closed with SS, of all things, as opposed to GYOW or something comparable.
The boys hit the ball outta the park on "Oh Well", btw...they rawked the place out!
Thanks for the kind words, Michele. :)

Yeah, these guys were driving me UP THE WALL! They were busy on their iPhones and talking to each other loudly. At one point, I leaned in to listen to what they were so anxiously discussing.....it was baseball scores! During "Sara"! Can you imagine? #@!&^%$@#!
Sacrilege!
Thanks for the kind words, btw!

I'm sorry people yelled at you! I went to an Elton John and Billy Joel concert a few weeks ago and everyone was sitting. But there were a few young adults standing and dancing. Of course lots of old people were pissed and yelling and grabbing security because others were standing and enjoying the show.
In my opinion....you have to be prepared when you go to a concert. People are going to be standing and sitting. That's why I was dancing on the stairs! Haha!

I got seats for Fleetwood Mac on row 21 in the floor section. So hopefully people will be standing up in that section. FINGERS CROSSED!
