wasnt there this big discussion here ages ago about that wall of sound version being from TISL?
so lindsey is there recording for TISL right
on TD and IMY...
is it known if he was working/worked on any other songs
that did or didn't make the album?

ita!
it's way better than SYW
even if it's not that commercial
the jazzed up version could have worked pretty well tho
maybe we would have seen it on tour :distress:
or now we'll have to wait another 30 years for Stevie to decide to bring it out :D

i so agree, the first time i heard thrown down i thought it would have been perfect for the first single. the song is just so catchy! i was so irritated when peacekeeper became the first single, its not that i dont like the song its just that i would have never picked it as a single. my hubby used to run around the house singing beekeeper instead of peacekeeper so after that I couldnt think of that song the same way again.

Hey on that note does anybody have the Candlebright Demo? I used to have it on my computer and then when I reformatted it I forgot to transfer the songs to my other comptuer, oopsie!
You know listening to this wall of sound thrown down again makes me wish this version would have been on the cd. I really like the 'so overhwhelming baby, theres nothing left to say' part in there.

Beekeeper take your time, that is too funny. I recently had bees try to make a home under the flashing in my roof. That swarm was one of the grossest things I've seen. Just thousands of bees clumped together. We got them before they made a hive though. They were gassed. Beekeepers should have their own song! And don't give me the alternate version either. I like, " Take no prisoners, only kill."

ha ha you crack me up about the beekeepers. that is crazy that the bees were trying to make a home under the flashing in your roof. good thing you got to them before they did. its funny i have this major fear of bees. when i was younger my friend and i used to catch them in glass bottles and then let them slowly die so i am convinced they are out to get me since they always seem to be following me! I know I was a strange kid back in the day.

i hate bees too! but here there are more wasps. hate them hate themm!! specially the ones with long legs IIIIICCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKK!
when I was a child I was so afraid that one day one landed on my arm and I got a histeria attack! I began to cry and scream, and my whole skin turned red and couldn't stop talking, I mumbled God knows what and finally mum put me in a cold shower.
Don't like peacekeeper very much. Thrown down is not a great song the way it was recorded in SYW, but has a great great great potencial, because is a very beautiful tune and the lyrics are daggers!!! I love it.

oh yeah i hate wasps too. they freak me out. your story kinda sounds like mine except I didnt turn red like that but I did freak out and my dad jumped down almost an entire flight of steps to find out what was going out cuz he thought somebody was hurting me. i think he wanted to smack me upside the head when he saw a wasp there staring at me, LOL! you know what i hate the most is those big bees that i call yellow jackets. damm bees!
yeah i hear ya bout peacekeeper. it doesnt really do much for me. the more i listen to this wall of sound version of thrown down the more i wish it was on syw than the one they used. i love the lyrics in this song as well. so damm good.

I got u.
that's one of the reasons I love the local radio station I work in. Sometimes, in the middle of the stress of writing news and cutting mini-discs, some FM song appears in the background, usually Little Lies or Hold Me or Everywhere, which really has a soothing effect on me.
so good to know i'm not the one who hates bees and wasps. YELLOW JACKETS was hillarious!!! :D
i don't know what happened with the production of SYW, but somebody forgot it is FM. please, where's the detail, the softness, the dreamy atmosphere?
I personally hate the guitar arpeggios all the time that lay in the whole song of TD. lindsey, that wasn't barroque, that was rococo. I don't like it at all, I think it is unnecesary and forced. Thats my opinion, and I hate to recognize it, because I usually say "amen" to whatever lindsey does. :sorry:

oh ita
i meant THEY thought SYW and PK were commercial
and Stevie deliberately tried to make SYW 'commercial'
with all the repetivity etc
not really like one of her songs at all
the WOS version of Thrown Down would have totally worked
however, i think their first single SHOULD have been Everybody Finds Out
that's the kinda music people would pay attention to and be like WOAH this is really good and people could relate :p
second single should have been Come
I think SYW is a killer album and there's only maybe 2 songs i flick over...okay 4
but them having a new album out was a pretty big deal
so they should have been a bit controversial
can u imagine :D

oh yeah i can totally relate to that regarding fm having that soothing effect. i can be having the worst day ever and i will be at the store and hear fm or stevie and it just makes my day. when i was younger i would listen to the fm greatest hits before every track meet that I had. for some reason it just got me pumped up!
i really like syw but i could have done without some of lindsey's strange songs on there. i like the guitar solos but some of them go on for way too long and should have been on one of his solo cd's. also what was up with illume and what sounds like a meshing of stevie's and lindsey's voices together in the one part of the song? it just sound so odd to me. my mother in law didnt like syw at all because she was used to their more popish stuff and she is a deacon so i can imagine the look on her face when she heard Come, HA! i freaking love that song though, its hot and lindsey singing that in concert is even hotter!
lol, i swear it must be a pa thing where people call those bees yellow jackets. we have our own slang here which probably makes us sound like idiots to others, HA!!
marinnette
03-18-2009, 07:21 PM
from now on I'll call them yellow jackets! well, in my own two languages, catalan: "jaquetes grogues", and in spanish: "chaquetas amarillas".
when I first heard "Come" I was like...yeaaah Lindsey, yeahh! now I understand the "rodeo" thing.
by the way, today I re-watch "working girl" and...Melanie had a very Stevie-like hair back them, very very very similar, at least in the first part of the movie.

ha there you go! we also call shopping carts buggy's, slippy for slippery and gumbands for rubberbands, LOL! the one word i wont use is yinz though, i freaking hate that. i love how yellow jackets sounds in spanish, so fancy!
oh yeah when i heard come i was like daamm this song is hot. if i remember correctly wasnt stevie irritated when this song came out cuz she thought people would think that song was about her, HA HA! you know i dont think i have ever seen working girl the entire way through. i gotta check that out again. i loved how stevie had her hair back then, i try to get my hair to do that and it never looks right.

me neither...too straight and thin...
don't worry about language! here in barcelona we have a terrible spanish. we mix it with catalan and we say words that don't exist in spanish because they are catalan, and we use some forms that in Spain sound despective...
what is a coffee with milk we say it as they say a little bit of milk in the coffee and stuff...this is another world!
this little stevie...what is the problem with her? she is against "tusk" against "come"...but then she says things like: come around tonight INDECENT, you fill the ROOM with the wind and the rain and the water... christine can't be left behind...SLIP YOUR HAND INSIDE MY GLOVE...come on.
and what about thrown down? the imaginery is very very cleaaarrr! (sorry, it may be my little shipper perverted heart, but everytime i hear this song I picture Lindsey throwing her on a hotel bed...). I do not intend to hurt any sensibility, so I beg your pardon if anyone feels that my sincerity goes a little bit too far... :sorry:

well, the thing is that we have our own language, a completely different one, which isn't a variation from spanish. it is in fact, closer to french than to spanish, at least in origin. it's a language brother of the almost disappeared occitane, or provenzal, what the bards used in their compositions in the XII century. quite a history! we have our own identity and we are,no doubt, a nation different than spain. this is europe!!! nationalities don't have to do very much with states! :p
I recommend u to listen to Thrown down with an open mind. i can't believe stevie did this song and wrote those lyrics without realizing they could be taken in a complete sexual sense! was that her intention? i think it was but, as all stevie's songs, you have a plenty room of interpretations!

i think this is a perfect example of HER way of writing

On Youtbe about a mth back it ThrownDown was in a pic montage of stevie and the version was awesome but they took the video down for some reason. The song opens up with a solo guitar and then comes in with a tamborine and then the song but its a version I only heard that one time and now its gone!!!!

Okay, let's add this up. Lindsey has to shelf the original Gift of Screws so he decides to get back together with Fleetwood Mac, with the idea of making a double album. And why not since he already had one of those two albums done, why not throw Stevie a bone? And when that didn't pan out and he had to drop even more of his songs, do you think he'd let Stevie put out one of her best songs on the album as the first (or any) single?
But I'm not bitter.

lindsey wanted SYW to be successful
and did he not invest a @$*# load of time and $$ into the project
i think he would be really proud of her to have that song out there
i think it was more something Stevie would say no to...like with doing it live and stuff.
coz all the best stuff never sees the light of day

Yikes! Okay okay. I'm sorry. I don't know these people, I never met Lindsey. It just seemed to me that after the way he acted in the Destiny Rules video it would not surprise me if he had his own best interest in mind. He's a bit of a control freak. He wouldn't allow Stevie to wear many of her brilliant costumes as she has said in the Jim Ladd interview. In the documentary he was constantly pushing for a double album even when everyone else, even the rest of his band, didn't want one and warned him about the potential failure the album might go through if he kept up with his insistence. I just always had the feeling the double album idea was because he wanted to be able to release Gift of Screws and have it sell by attaching it to the Fleetwood Mac name.
Again, I don't know him, it's only speculation. I'm sorry if I hurt anyone's feelings.
