View Full Version : Uncut Mag is looking for questions for Stevie

British music mag Uncut has a regular feature where readers can ask a rock star questions. Mick has taken part in the past, but the next one features none other than Miss Nicks. Let's hope we get better answers than the Ask Stevie section on the Nicks Fix, although it would be amusing to see answers like "If I had one wish, it would be for world peace…." or "And there changed my life~ " in print. Anyway, get cracking with some DECENT questions, please It would be great if we could get some information from her that we haven't heard before instead of the same old Rumours stories. I think I'm going to ask her if she's heard Law & Order :D

ASK STEVIE NICKS
Uncut are speaking to the Fleetwood Mac singer, and we’re after your questions

Stevie Nicks is in the hot seat soon for our An Audience With... feature. As usual, we’d like to know what questions you’ve got for her.

So, is there anything you’ve always wanted to ask Stevie..?

What’s like being back on the road with Fleetwood Mac?
What did she think of Courtney Love’s version of “Gold Dust Woman”?
And just where does she keep all her hats from the '80s?

Send your questions by Thursday, March 19 to: uncutaudiencewith@ipcmedia.com

http://www.uncut.co.uk/news/uncut/news/12904

Why do you perform the same songs/setlist for every tour?

Why aren't you recording any more original music?

What works better- Restylane, Botox or the Lifestyle Lift?

What makes you think you're the one?

question for you sharon: approx how many questions were asked of Mick that made it to print?

we've heard the responses to these, haven't we? I hope these aren't questions already in the print loop.

What makes you think you're the one? I will try to come up with a couple...
but, I wonder if the interviewer will take license to modify "decent" questions? Such was the case for me with the last mag Q&A with Lindsey (I asked about Lindsey's ISA "self scream" in a "decent" way ;)) and mostimes when fan questions are modified-to-butch all that elicits is a dullass response. I love how The Ledge conducted Q&A...those were unmodified questions!

Niki, I don't have a copy of the mag near me at the moment but I think it's around 10-15 questions. And they always give examples of three general questions but I've never seen them go to print.
Hope that helps!

Good question Louie... Maybe that question should be asked multiple times from multiple people basically letting the editors or the people picking the questions know that this is a hot questions that needs to be asked and answered. She's likely forwarded the questions ahead of time and picks from the pool.

I'll think of something to ask.

2.) Who and when was your first kiss?

Jazz, that's the kind of question they actually might go for! (nice to see you on btw)

As much as many of you might like to know about set lists etc, that's not usually the type of question they pick. Looking at this month's issue with Graham Nash, they go for quirky questions ("who out of Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young would win in a fight?), personal stuff ("is your reputation as the calming influence in the band justified?") and specific trivia ("In Dylan's book Chronicles he writes of performing Lay Lady Lay at Johnny Cash's house before handing you the guitar. What did you play and what are your memories of that night?"), etc.
If you want to know why SOTM isn't in the set list anymore you might want to ask if the song was about Lindsey's new girlfriend or something, and if that's why they don't play it anymore, something like that. They tend to go for the angle, and to be fair to them, it makes better reading that way.

Here are some of the questions I submitted.

"Gold Dust Woman" is one of my favorite Fleetwood Mac songs and I like how the lyrics have slightly changed over the years. I love the version you performed on Soundstage and was wondering what inspired the new lyrics at the end ("Baby, you should see me now ...")?

Fleetwood Mac are currently touring the US and Canada. Are there any plans for concerts in Europe and if yes which countries are you going to play in?

We know that music will always be your first love and you devote a lot of time to it. Is there currently a "special someone" in your life though?

You haven't released a solo album in almost a decade. Are there any plans for releasing new solo material in the near future?

What does a typical day in your life look like when you're not on tour or working on new material?

How do you feel about plastic surgery?

Sooooooooo Stevie.... What is it like being secretly married to Lindsey Buckingham?;) LOL, no seriously, I need to think about this for a little while. Damn, what do you ask the Ultimate Rock and Roll Woman? Do you want fries with that? OMG, sorry, my mind is going off in weird directions... I need to get some sleep.

Hey has Stevie ever really discussed why she wears her moon crescent necklace?
Or maybe we should sneak in a well worded question on if the Rhiannon movie project will ever see the light of day.

Besides Tom Petty, Don Henley, and Lindsey Buckingham, Kenny Loggins, who was your favorite person to sing with? or want to sing with in the future?

Have you ever thought of doing a duet with Pat Benatar? :D

Why don't you own a damn computer or cell phone? LOL... there I go off again..... need sleep.....

Why is your official web site so damn out of date. LOL, .... zinger question

Have you ever killed anyone with your famous "Stevie stare" and if so, what did the person do to deserve such a painful and intense death?..... (must get some sleep, oh my ... my mind is getting too sarcastic and twisted right now). Are you aware of the "Stevie of Death" thread on The Ledge?

Why don't Fleetwood Mac and yourself hire better t-shirt designers?

Would Fleetwood Mac or yourself ever consider doing a backstage only access kind of thing for fans via YouTube?

Why did you stop posting your journal entries on your web site?

What is the significance of the Black with Dots Stand Back shawl?

What do you do on your days off when touring with Fleetwood Mac?

Why is the Stevie Nicks Soldiers Foundation charity information not posted on your web site for fans to contribute? Do you fly into Washington DC via Dulles airport or Reagan International airport? Do you ever travel on I-66 or Washington Beltway during rush hour and freak out at all the speeding cars going by at 75-80 mpg only to screech to a stop because there is a cop on the other side of the road and people are rubbernecking? (sorry, had to get a local angle in the question) since she visits DC.
*** How about, if you had the opportunity to visit any monument in DC, which one would it be?

Do you really watch General Hospital and do you think Genie Francis could play your part in a movie?

When will you write your autobiography? Any plans for a coffee table book for your drawings?

Paper or Plastic ?:laugh::laugh::sorry: Just had to ask that.

When you take your journal entries and make them into a poem to take to the piano, do you already have a melody in your head? Take us through the process.

What is your favorite song from your album "Trouble in Shangri-La?"

Crash into Me is your new single, how did that song inspire or move you enough to want to sing/record it? Was there a muse for wanting to do that song?

If you drove, what kind of car would you drive and what is the destination?

What is the status of the "New Orleans - Katrina" song?

Do you ever get overwhelmed onstage by the audience yelling "Stevie!!!!" or singing along to Landslide?

Do you ever get dizzy doing those Stand Back twirls? @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

What are the top 3 songs played right now on your iPod?

Do you prefer singing the ballads or the rock and roll songs on stage?

Is your staff or Karen (assistant) aware of your online fan base?

Any plans in the works for a live Unleashed Tour recording? Tell us how you came up with Unleashed as a name for the tour (pandering to Stevie's ego a bit, but could get her talking), who knows. Why doesn't Fleetwood Mac offer souvenir live recordings of the concert the fan attends?

I might think of more, but that is all I have right now. A lot are questions that will never be asked, but had to get them off my chest. (tongue in cheek style). ;)

If you like any, please feel free to use them or inspire you own questions. Hopefully the questions they pick are not the same... all the same.. all the same. well, you know where I am coming from.

Why have you never renewed your drivers licence?

If you could record an album with one band or solo artist - with whom you have not previously worked - who would it be?

If you hadn't joined Fleetwood Mac do you think you and Lindsey would have gotten married, and do you think you'd still be successful musicians?

"On top or bottom?"

"How has it felt for you having to revamp some of your songs over time to fit your changing voice?" (I actually want to ask this one) or "Was there an exact moment where you realized your voice had changed?"

or "Can you still secretly hit some high notes? I bet you sing the high part in Dreams every morning in the shower. Dare ya to do it onstage one night."

What is the status of the "New Orleans - Katrina" song?

I love all of your questions, but these 3 are fantastic...i really hope she answers them!

Ok, here is my official question for Stevie.

Stevie,

Rhiannon is one of your most famous and well known songs and has a great story behind it. What if any plans are there in the future for a Rhiannon movie project?

Well here are my questions...I had a hard time thinking of them but this is what I sent in.

How often do your solo and Fleetwood Mac shows get recorded these days? I have heard you record each show and the crew watches it on the road. If so, has Fleetwood Mac ever considered selling downloadable copies of these shows on their website? Many fans would love to pay for a copy of the show they attended.

Do you think there is a better chance for a new Fleetwood Mac studio album, or a new Stevie Nicks studio album?

Your live in Chicago soundstage sessions are being released this month. Is this CD/DVD set the last with your current contract agreement?

Which song on the Unleashed tour has been the most fun for you to preform? The hardest?

What are your plans after the Unleashed tour ends this May? Will there be more dates, some studio time, or just some time on the beach?

I love your boots - the new red ones from the Unleashed tour rock. How comfortable are they for you to wear on stage?

Want to go out for dinner in April? I'll meet you after the Philly show and we can go see the town in your limo. If you need a place to stay overnight, I can put the bed on the floor and take you back to the Gypsy that you were. That would be pretty fantastic, right?

( I didn't ask that last one) :p

Stevie:

1. How come you never fell in love with John McVie? He's totally more bitchin than Rupert Hine for chrissake.

2. A long time ago, you told your employees that you hated the Internet. How do you feel about the Internet these days?

3. What is your favorite cut of beef?

4. Why didn't you put "Crystal" & "If You Ever Did Believe" produced by Sheryl Crow on your last package? That was your best work in years, & now those tracks are long forgotten.

5. There is heart disease in your family. Is there chronic intestinal disruptivity, too?

6. You know & love Cocteau's "Beauty & the Beast." Do you like Cocteau's other masterpieces -- "Orpheus," "Blood of a Poet," etc.? Is Cocteau the only great European filmmaker you know or like?

7. What is your view on authorship of the Pentateuch? An unknown scribe or scribes in the post-Solomonic court? Do you agree with Harold Bloom that the author of the "J" strands was in fact Bathsheeba?

8. The word "ledgies" -- what does it mean to you?

9. Why do you wear outdoorsy riding gloves onstage? Why not wear indoorsy ball gown gloves of the 6-button or 12-button variety? White silk?

10. "Sara" used to be your favorite song to perform, & then it was "How Still My Love." What is it these days?

11. Do you believe that you & Lindsey can have a good tour, even if you argue a lot?

12. Do you think there's something ... sinister about Christine McVie?

You have an amazing solo concert career; as evidenced by the 2005/07/08 concerts I have attended. Stevie, I am curious, when given the opportunity, do the band members of Fleetwood Mac attend one another's solo concerts?

I wanted to ask her thoughts about Lindsey's UTS album, but John hadn't yet given listen when I asked him about it and I don't think the question would make the cut for a Stevie Q&A...not that the above question would, but these are the only two things I am curious about...maybe the attendance one has a chance.

Hi there. I'm afraid the interview was cancelled due to unforseen circumstances and won't be happening anytime soon. Sorry.

I think you should send every one of those questions in! She's bound to answer at least one of them!

Ah, that sucks. I thought maybe they were keeping it to run around the time of the UK shows. How is it she has time to do all these Aussie/NZ interviews but couldn't do this?
Anyway, thanks Niki for the info.
