Anyone else on here like the movie "Into The Wild"?
I bought the DVD, it's a great movie based on a true
story. You have to admire that young man's spirit.

The soundtrack CD is great too. Eddie Vedder did a
great job on this. In my opinion it's better than his
work with Pearl Jam. I wish all CD's came packaged
like this. It's like a small hardback book. Full of pictures
and lyrics. Great to play guitar to.

Rent the DVD and post what you think of the movie.

I saw it... it's actually one of my favorite movies of all time. It's such a profoundly epic adventure and such a sad story, but one that everyone can relate to. It really made me think about how trivial and silly a lot of our pursuits in life can be. And yes, you have to admire the guy's bravery and independent spirit. But you also have to admit that so much of what he did was pretty stupid. I don't want to provide any spoilers... but let's just say that there was a canoe/ferry about 300 yards up the river from the LoveBus. If he'd only known...

I was pretty cynical about Eddie Vedder doing the soundtrack; I loathe Pearl Jam vehemently. I mean, hearing Pearl Jam makes me want to perform a violent act! But I have to admit that the soundtrack was surprisingly moving and perfect for this movie.

Canoe/ferry 300 yards up river? I didn't know that. Did you read
that in the book or see it on the making of the movie? If it was in the
movie I totally missed it.

Oh HeyiraNYC, let's make sure that we will never meet in this life. We so intensely disagree on any topic so it seems.

I read it in the most definitive source of information: wiki. Also, it was a "hand operated tram," whatever that is, not a canoe/ferry.

Here is the wiki entry, but it contains SPOILERS. Y'all have been forewarned...

Oh yes, what a book and what a movie!

Diane did the movie change anything from the book?
I need to find a hardback first edition of that book!

What, and ruin it for you? I would nevah! :D

Let's just say that Hollywood embellishment played a part.

I guess I'll just have to read the book!
Hope the movie wasn't too embellished,
you would think his story was good enough
on it's own.
