LEGENDARY ROCK QUEEN STEVIE NICKS’ NEW “LIVE IN CHICAGO” DVD AND “THE SOUNDSTAGE SESSIONS” CD SCHEDULED FOR MARCH 31st RELEASE
New York, NY - Stevie Nicks, rock’s superstar chanteuse, the “Gold Dust Woman” herself, will be releasing the “Live In Chicago” DVD as well as “The Soundstage Sessions” CD - both in stores on March 31st, it was announced today by Reprise Records.
The “Live in Chicago” DVD includes all the timeless Nicks songs from her solo projects as well as songs written as a member of the legendary rockers Fleetwood Mac. Along with Stevie classics such as “Stand Back,” “Rhiannon,” “Dreams,” “Gold Dust Woman,” “Landslide” and “Edge of Seventeen,” the DVD also features stunning cover songs, including Dave Matthews’ “Crash Into Me” and a tear-down-the-house finale of Led Zeppelin’s “Rock and Roll.”
“This is the first time since 1985 that I have had one of my live shows filmed and recorded,” said Nicks. “We spent three years perfecting this show, which we began in Vegas in October of 2007. I could not move on until we filmed this show. Luckily “Soundstage” producer Joe Thomas, who saw the show many times, felt the same way. I am as proud of this as anything I’ve ever done in my entire career.”
Stevie Nicks “The Soundstage Sessions” CD includes 10 songs from the “Live in Chicago” DVD. Nicks brought the songs from the show to Nashville and worked once again with Joe Thomas in the studio where they added “Nashville strings” and additional vocals. The CD features a lush orchestral version of “Landslide” and other Nicks gems including “Stand Back,” “Crash Into Me,” “Sara,” “Fall From Grace” and “If Anyone Falls in Love.”
Digital downloads of “Crash Into Me” (”I’ve wanted to record this song for the last 10 years,” said Nicks) and “Landslide” (orchestral version) will be available on Amazonmp3.com on March 17th. “Enchanted,” an exclusive album track, is scheduled to be available on March 31st on Amazonmp3.com. “Gold Dust Woman” and “Edge of Seventeen” will be available exclusively on iTunes on March 31st.
“We wanted everything on the DVD and CD to look and sound perfect and I think we succeeded,” concluded Nicks.
Nicks is currently on the Fleetwood Mac “Unleashed” Tour, which began March 1st in Pittsburgh.

Okay, so let me get this straight... so the played-out uninspired setlist that we have had to endure for the past three years was all done in order to "perfect" the show for Soundstage? Hmmm... okay... so now that she has "moved on," does this mean she has really moved on, as in doing a completely solo show from now on? Action, not words, Mama!

Wow so it seems that the CD really is going to be different versions than the DVD. Maybe the same to a point but I'm glad it's just not the DVD's audio ripped onto a CD. :)

Thanks so much for posting this...i've been waiting for this press release! Now we know why the CD and DVD have taken so long to come out, because Stevie wanted everything to look and sound perfect, and it has been definitely worth the wait!
It's very interesting that they mentioned going to Nashville to work on the tracks...now we know that these tracks (especially the one's on the CD) were polished in the studio, which i think is great.

I think so too. Thanks for putting that show on tape. I, for one, am going to enjoy it for the rest of my life. Soundstage is GREAT! Now can we get a full studio album of new material? Of course after the FM tour and album are done, that is. Please?? :)

Yeah thats waht I'm reading from what you quoted. After the Say You Will tour, Stevie basicly spent three years "rehearsing" in front of a live audience for her live album/DVD. I am slightly comforted knowing there was a method to the admitedly extreme madness.

...and yet it still comes out boring and uninspired.

I didn't say I hated it.
If you want to spend money on the 15th released version of Rhiannon, have at it. I tend to spend my money on artists that actually enjoying releasing new music and performing it on stage and not treat touring as a chore.
Stevie is still my first love, but she have lost me due to her lack of caring towards her fans. All she wants to do is live in her little comfort box.

If that's how you think of her, then that's fine, but try not to spoil other people's fun along the way. Some of us have been looking forward to this release for well over a year.
*Edit: I think i may have sounded a little harsh there, but i guess i'm just a little worn down from people ragging on Stevie so much lately.

Press at the time said that it was going to being filmed for a DVD release, but that was never officially announced by the Nicks camp. People who attended the show said that there were a few cameras for the in-house screens, but nothing compared to what would be required to film the concert for a full-blown production.
Additionally, when Stevie returned at the end of the concert to re-do a couple of songs because of a "screw-up," she remained dressed in her "Beauty And The Beast" attire -- implying that they were really only concerned about the audio that night and not video.

why should people who are looking forward to this release be treated like invalids who can't handle hearing a difference of opinion? does it really change how you look at a release if someone else disagrees with the way you see it?

no, i didn't say you were invalids. but that is how it seems a lot of fans want to be treated - they don't want to hear negative talk about stevie or any of her new releases because they're looking forward to it. it doesn't make any sense to me.

There are certain members on this board who only post something negative about Stevie, regardless of the situation, and they actually want to call themselves "fans".
Differences of opinion are great, but if it's only done to stir the pot, then what's the point in starting an uproar over nothing.

I totally agree.. Its getting very tiresome seeing people do nothing but complain (not so much here, but definitely in the Rumours forum) about how little shes doing or whats she "should" be doing etc etc.
I'm so excited for Soundstage. I rang my local HMV to see when they'd have it in and we wont have it over here till mid April apparently, so it could be worse for all of you on the right side of the Atlantic. Quit moaning.

Anyone knows if there will be extra's on the DVD?
I am definetly getting it. The DVD+ CD+ free litho+ free mp3 is a great deal. I know what I want for my birthday
Edit: I have been out of loop for some time....I didn't know Stevie had a Webshop! I will be getting a few Tee's too lol

I think the only bonus on the DVD is the orchestrated version of Landslide.
