Hi everybody,
YEARS ago I have seen a copy of Stevie's birth certificate and had this copy in my collection but got lost. I'm looking for this one for weeks now but can't find it anywhere. Is anyone willing to sell me a nice copy??

I agree. That is creepy. That is a severe invasion of privacy. Let it go. You may have "lost it" for a reason. Wanna buy mine? Starting bid is $10.

This just seems kind of different.... I read it and was wondering if it was a joke or not, as sometimes it's kind of hard to tell.
Not trying to mean or anything, but it is kind of creepy.

Mmmh, I don't understand that this is creepy. Actually I got the birth certificate years ago from another Stevie fan and I'm sure that others do have it in their personal collection. What's wrong with having a copy of Stevie's birth certificate?? There are just the notes of her name, when she was born, where, her parents. I can't see anything creepy in there....sorry.

It feels creepy to me too. I'm not sure I could even express why; it just feels uncomfortable. I'm not a collector, but I don't understand the desire to have a copy of someone's birth certificate. I imagine it would make Stevie uncomfortable as well.

I see your info says you are from Germany, so maybe it's different there, but in the States, those are a form of ID, and we need them to get a passport, get a driver's license, and all manner of things like that. To even get a copy of your OWN birth certificate, if you lose it or something, you have to present a bunch of other stuff in order to prove you are who you say you are - if you pay for it with a credit card, for example, the address on file with the CC company has to match the address they are mailing it to, you have to be able to list off the info that should already be on it, etc.
They can be used for identity theft, and they are personal and important documents for us - a lot of people keep them in firesafe boxes in case their houses burn down, lol.
I'm a big Stevie and FM collector, and I have many photos and things all over my house, but it would never occur to me to want a copy of her birth certificate. There's no reason for me to have that, and unlike a photo or an album cover, it's not something she's released into the world for us all to admire. It's a private thing.
I'm not judging you, and I can't speak for the others that found it creepy, but that's why the idea makes ME uncomfortable. :)

Well, I don't know what else to say...I just was looking for this certificate that came from the hospital Stevie was born. (I don't know if this is the birth certificate or something else). I'm currently working on Stevie's bio for my website and just thought I could place it there. But since all thinks it's creepy, forget it. I don't know HOW many times I should apologies...

Hey, I don't think it's so creepy. Is it worse than waiting or hanging out for hours just to get a glimpse of her coming in or out of her hotel, or some type of venue? All of us here seem to be a little obsessed with her or someone else in the Mac.
If you want creepy, check out Wynnco. There you can buy a pair of her panty hose! Now that's creepy!

To contribute something positive, I think your website is awesome. I love all the pictures you have/had on it, even though they are really tiny.

What's the big deal with someone having the birth certificate or not? It's not like we don't know the information that is on it anyway- her parents name, the date, the hospital she was born. That's basically it. Big whoop. Usually in the States these are for public record and anyone can get a copy - not so private when you look at it that way. Now, if her certificate is sealed and not out there for public record, then yeah, her privacy should be respected. I would venture to say her certificate is sealed...

This isn't any weirder than people having Stevie and Lindsey's early 70's passports.

I find it a bit weird too. No offense..but I agree too that it's a private thing, and how Stevie's birth certificate even got out there in the first place just boggles my mind. How do people get a hold of these things they have no business having in their possession in the first place? It's just scary as I agree that these things can be used for idendity theft. I wonder if Stevie's even aware that a copy of her birth certificate is on the loose somewhere? I think she would be more than a little creeped out by it. I know I would be...if it were me.

Mine's not sealed, as far as I know, nor are my kids', and I had to jump through hoops to get new copies when mine were lost. I think it's easier to get them when the person in question is dead, such as for genealogy projects or something, but even then, I am not sure you can just walk in somewhere and get a random birth certificate.
Unless it's just Pennsylvania and Alabama that are strict about it. I had to jump through hoops to get a death certificate in Michigan, too.

It likely wouldn't surprise her, though. She's been in the biz for so long, I am sure she's well-acquainted with creepy, and probably on a much larger scale than this mild form of it, lol.

I think Mick's birth certificate is out there too. A copy has been on sale. Of course, Mick might have auctioned it off himself;). Michele

Haha - I can totally see him sitting there with a pile of them in his office, hovering over eBay in case anyone should bid. "Big money! C'mon, big money!"

Don't know, different states may be stricter. I think as long as you've got the money you can obtain any public record document. I had to help my nephew get his birth certifiate in Georgia and it wasn't a big deal. Ordered it online and it came in the mail a couple of weeks later.

You don't have to apologize; we're just trying to explain why we think it's inappropriate for someone to try to acquire someone else's birth certificate.
