According to this (http://www.rollingstone.com/blogs/smokingsection/2008/12/stevie-nicks-talks-fleetwood-m.php) article there is supposed to be Stevie interview in the "next" issue of "Rolling Stone", but I can't find any mention of a Stevie interview in the online version of the table of content for the new issue. Does anyone know which issue the interview will be in?

Her interview is supposed to be in the "George Bush" issue that just came out yesterday. I'm going to pick it up today, and i'll report back if i find the article.

Awww, okay. Thanks though.

I always have to go on a 45 minute train ride to Hamburg to get foreign magazines, so I thought I would ask if the interview is actually in the magazine before I embark on an unnecessary trip. ... the table of contents for the new issue on the RS website doesn't list anything relating to Stevie.

I went to the store today, and they still had last month's issue (Brad Pitt on the cover) out. So maybe it'll be out later this week/early next week.

I went to the store today to get a copy of the issue with the "alledged" Stevie interview in it, but for some reason they won't get it for another few weeks, I guess I'm going to have to get it from eBay. So is that interview actually there or isn't it?

Was just at the mall and went to the bookstore....the new RS w/ W. on the cover is out.....but Stevie was nowhere to be found....:(
Perhaps they are saving the interview till closer to the release of Soundstage and or beginning of the FM tour.

Too bad. :S Hope they will publish the interview at all, the little bit on the RS website was a nice read. ... Thanks for the info though ... I'm kinda hoping for a Fleetwood Mac cover story when the tour is getting closer.

I haven't seen the article either, but they were talking about it today on Mark and Brian's radio show. They said that Stevie wanted to set the record straight about Sheryl Crow joining Fleetwood Mac. She said that they had absolutely invited Sheryl to join the Mac because Stevie wanted another woman on the road. She also said that it was Sheryl who backed out after Stevie explained that it was like joining the army and Sheyrl thought against it since she had just adopted Wyatt. And then Brian was like, hey wait a minute, didn't Lindsey say, when he was here in the studio, that they had never talked to her? Then they made some jokes about what a shocker it was that Stevie and Lindsey did not see eye-to-eye on this matter. Then they remarked what a perfect little drama to launch the tour.

Anyway, that's not verbatim, just what I remembered them discussing on the radio. We should have a transcript soon, you guys are so good about that stuff.

Exactly.... wow, now their friends aren't playing along?? Come on, they've got to have something for publicity - God knows it isn't going to be any new music! ;)

I hate the press release where they say that Stevie said she's looking forward to the new tour and the band still has chemistry. Why don't they quote what she actually said rather than summarize. It makes me think that she never even spoke, but just nodded her head when they asked her questions like, "Are you gelling?"

This is the one I mean:

"It has been five years since their last tour, but Stevie Nicks says that the chemistry is still strong among the members of Fleetwood Mac. She says that they are gelling as they prepare for their Unleashed tour and that the magic is still there. The group -- which these days consists of Nicks, Mick Fleetwood, Lindsey Buckingham and John McVie -- said last month that they were going on tour for the first time since 2003. Now they have announced new dates that include Philadelphia, Atlanta, Dallas and Los Angeles. The tour will begin March 1 in Pittsburgh."

Okay, the new issue with Bruce Springsteen on the cover has another small article with Stevie in the 'Smoking Section' on page 25. It's not available on RS's website at this time, but it may turn up later. It's just a brief paragraph, but the highlights are Stevie confirming Gold Dust Woman, Rhiannon, Monday Morning:blob2:, and Dreams for the upcoming setlist. She says they have not made final decisions about any other songs yet. She also says she is excited about her Soundstage release, and her cover of 'Crash Into Me' is mentioned. "I think I did the song justice," she says. "I'd like to do a record where I take boys' songs and twist them into women's songs."

So that's newsworthy if it comes true............

Ok for Monday Morning. Yes, indeed!

As for Rhiannon, GDW and Dreams, why would she even bother opening her mouth to say that those songs are confirmed? There are unborn babies who know those songs are confirmed.

Thanks for telling us.

If she would do something as simple as swapping out GDW for SOTM I might still be interested in attending a show even though I saw her perform SOTM on the Tusk and Mirage tours..at least it has not been done since then.I agree with Michele even bothering to mention that she will do GDW .Dreams and Rhiannon is preposterous.

It's funny, but I think GDW still sounds fresh and I enjoy hearing it solo or with FM (and appreciate the difference between the 2). To me, it is far less worn than Dreams or Rhiannon.

No, Silver Springs is not a given, since it was ultimately dropped from the SYW tour. I don't know if they will put it back. I'm ok if they don't. It wasn't as good for SYW as it was for The Dance, to me.

Honestly, Gold Dust woman is played a lot less than Dreams and Rhiannon. So- there ya go ;) Gold Dust woman has the most subtle changes ever time I see it... It is like a child that still continues to grow. It is the song that they used to describe her fashions and music years ago in VOGUE. It is one of those signature songs. (Agreebly, not as noted as GYOW, Don't Stop, and Dreams, but definitely a favorite of soooo many.)

Why are you yelling? And is someone from FM paying you to stump for their new tour or what? If the band can't get us die hard fans excited about hearing the same tired set list and paying out the ass to do so, I don't think you'll be able to either.

Well, no. Dreams and Rhiannon have been played on every tour since they were released. To my knowledge, Silver Springs was only played on The Dance tour in 97 and for part of the SYW tour. That hardly qualifies it as a concert staple.

OH no... I wasn't yelling. I don't understand that CAP is yelling. Sometimes, I just leave it on lock, lol. However, I would yell if GDW were not on the setlist... I would love to work for FM... ooooh! That would be a dream come true.

Just a side note: "die hard fans" would be happy to hear from their band in any way. Understandbaly, fans who have followed them fro a while would get tired, but there are newbies coming out that ache to hear the hits, regardless. Maybe I am too die hard, or maybe I have always be loyal to the decisions that THE MAC has made. "Everything you do is just all right, and I can't walk away from you , if I tried."

Did you really not like it from Soundstage? I thought that was a goodie  .

I've got a really good feeling about Sisters Of The Moon too. We all thought she'd never pull out Sara, Beautiful Child, or sing Insider with Tom Petty again either, but she's done all three within the past 5 years.

Here is the Tusk Doc's version of Sisters to those who may not have seen it:

I just love how the audience goes totally apeshit every time she starts belting, despite the fact the audience noises were likely spliced in lol.

Agreed. I REALLY REALLY REALLY HOPE sooooooooooooooooooooooo much to hear it. Its time. It needs to be given the full-blown treatment. Like how they and she always go out of their way to make Gold dust woman cool and mystic and all that. THATS what sisters needs. COOL lighting, cool Shawl, Mystic moves, new add libbing, ect. Im kinda done with Gold dust woman for right now. I agree that the DANCE version is Un-toppable. It is an awsome fleetwood mac version. AND the Soundstage version was equally Compelling. So, its already been captured. It is time for sisters of the moon. Rhiannon still has potential, as soundstage proved, Dreams aint goin anywhere, but i like that song, so dont care. but yes, Sisters of the moon PLEASE!

By that statement I could tell you were not present for the show she did in Detroit back in October... It shook the foundation of all things that rock. Seriously, you really should have been there, Matt, you would have been amazed. I have the music from the show... I could send it to ya, it was truly a mix of visual and auditory so it may not be the same. However, it was unrealistic. Total mind blow.

I was at that show in October and I thought it was fabulous - I thought she sounded great and had tons of energy. However, it was the first Stevie concert I've been to. Can others who were at that show and who've seen her at other concerts let me know how that particular show compared to some of her others?

OH!!! Cool, I rarely have someone say they went that night, as I did. Honestly, the difference is that she talked a lot more that night than I have ever seen her talk. She had a blast. She was shakey in the beginning, usually... she starts really solid, but I am sure she just had to find her footing. It was a smaller venue for her so I am sure she felt a little less pressure.

When the fan jumped up and grabbed her I could see in her face that the night had finally gotten interesting. To compare them further? Every concert I have been to she makes the crowd feel like they are two old friends having dinner by a river together, ya know? A sort of Romantic feeling. That night was totally different. She saw we were all getting drinks at the bar and she just let loose. You could tell that night she and the crowd were not just friends, but friends WHO ROCK...

Were you impressed with her performance?

I saw stevie in 2003 FM (Toronto), Don Henley 2005 (Philly), and Tom Petty 2006 (NYC). The two times she did GDW where she sings the line and go hoooooooome she started wailing saying something like ah ah ah asnd it sounded awful. I loved the way she did it on The Dance DVD.

I like Gold Dust Woman subdued & stealthy in the beginning, & then raging like a punker on the outro (only to subside into hushed heartbeats in a long-drawn-out ending) -- in short, the way Fleetwood used to play it in the '70s. I prefer the more personal character FM gave to the Nicks material onstage to the way the guys do it nowadays in Stevie's solo bland. The latter go too heavy on that digital-clone sitar or sarinda or whatever it is. All sound holes are filled in before the ear has a chance to identify them. The effect is overused, & my ears balk.

I'm glad to see young people who are such fervent fans. I was as well when I was very young but it was easy to be a fan then and witness a band at the most heady heights of popularity dare to release an avant -garde masterpiece like Tusk as a follow up to what was then the biggest sellling album by a rock band ever.If they would be this daring again instead of signing on with Azoff to mimic that most venal, mercernary band ,The Eagles.I would be just as fervent now as I was 30 years ago when I was 16.

I sorta-kinda agree, but don't wanna start any kind of argument. I just want them to step out there and rock. Play some tunes, let's have fun, and let me live in it like it's Tusk Tour 2009... That is the way I hope it will be. I don't mind if they don't have new material, I am okay with that. I just want to be there and watch intently as I had over ten years ago. This is the soundtrack of my young life. Watching them from somewhere in the first ten rows (lol) will be a dream come true...

Ya know... I don't really think she said all that much other than Dreams and a couple of, "standard" songs were already confirmed for the show. OH and that MONDAY MORNING WAS CONFIRMED. I guess that's it... Did you all see somewhere that she said they wouldn't start with, The Chain? I didn't find it in the post on the Stevie Nick's Forum... What did they say they would start with?

I haven't seen it yet, that's why i was asking. I went to B&N three times this week, but they still have the Bush issue. I was also wondering about the pic(s) since EveryHour does have the interview and was kind enough to update us.

I was at Barnes and Noble yesterday and picked up the new issue of RS and it has Bruce Springsteen on the cover, anyway, there was a small tiny article on Stevie and Fleetwood Mac going back on the road. It wasn't anything to get excited about. That's the only one i've seen so far.

Here's the article verbatim:

"It still gives me goose bumps and it still makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up," says Stevie Nicks, who is eagerly anticipating the first Fleetwood Mac tour in five years, which kicks off March 1st in Pittsburgh. Nicks tell the Smoking Section that fans can count on renditions of "Gold Dust Woman", "Rhiannon", "Monday Morning" and "Dreams," but the rest of the set has yet to be hammered out. (For what it's worth, we request "World Turning.") "It's pretty easy to choose when there's such a great vault to pick from," she says. Nicks is also thrilled with her two solo releases, out in March. One is The Soundstage Sessions, a CD featuring live versions of some lesser-known jams, and an orchestral version of "Landslide." The other is a DVD called Live In Chicago, where she mixes Mac classics, solo hits and a few covers, including Dave Matthews Band's "Crash Into Me." "I think I did the song justice," she says. "I'd like to do a record where I take boys' songs and twist them into women's songs." Look out." -Article by Austin Scaggs

Ohh, and At Last isn't a guy song, it's by Etta James.

Yes, it was. It was on some website and thought "Wow, that's good", though now I realise she has released songs that are much better.

Oh, I must've overread the "guy songs", sorry.

Thanks for posting that.

Ha. I resent them requesting World Turning. FM might just listen to Rolling Stone and to waste a song request that might actually be granted on World Turning is unforgivable.

Since last summer, actually, so yeah. I wish I would've discovered her and the Mac earlier. Well, my parents used to listen to the Mac when I was younger, but I never was actively interested since last year.

GypsyGirl it's always cool to read about a new fan. Just means you've got alot of CD's to buy.

I remember back in '83 that I thought I'd got in on being a Stevie & FM fan a little too late. I bought Wild Heart and after that Bella Donna. Then I had all the FM records to look forward to.

Oh maggie, I didn't realize how new you were to this. I am (in comparison to others) new... I have only been in the game for 13 out of 25 years so... I still think they are the greatest. I am happy I feel lin love with the '97 Dance Fleetwood Mac, cause I kinda knew, going into it, that they were an older band and not to expect too much, but they are constantly suprizing me. OOOh... and at parties I throw we love nothing more than playing vinyl Rumours and TUSK- we all drift away and just try to imagine the greatness... You gotta get some vinyls!!!!

Very, very new apparently. :p I'm glad that total newbies like me are welcome though.

I absolutely love vinyls. Actually I collect vinyls of my favorite bands/singers - got a few by Siouxsie & the Banshees, Dire Straits and Lene Lovich - and I just love going to record stores and browsing. Unfortunately I only have one record by Stevie so far and none by the Mac, but my uncle has "Tusk" and maybe "Rumours" and said I can have them. Yay. My neighbour just lent me his Mac records, but I have to give them all back by the end of the week. Too bad.

This is from the Smoking Section of Rolling Stone:

Last night we had the extreme pleasure of chatting with Stevie Nicks, who in January
will release a DVD titled Live In Chicago, featuring takes of many of her greatest
hits with Fleetwood Mac and her stellar solo career. It's truly awesome.

In conjunction, Nicks is releasing a companion CD titled The Soundstage Sessions,
offering live renditions of her lesser-performed cuts like "Beauty and the Beast,"
"Fall from Grace," and her covers of Dave Matthews Band's "Crash" and Bonnie Raitt's
"Circle Dance."

As one of our greatest singers ever -- and a rock star of the highest order --
Stevie couldn't have been sweeter, funnier or more down to earth.

We talked about her recent 60th birthday (she took her mom and her friends to see a
production of the play Wicked, of course), the upcoming Fleetwood Mac tour (she
can't wait), as well as the drama surrounding Sheryl Crow's involvement in the Mac.

As you may remember, last March Crow announced that she would be joining Mac,
saying, "We definitely have plans for collaborating in the future, and we'll see
what happens. I think that's going to be next year."

Although it appears to fly in the face of what Lindsey Buckingham told us, Stevie
told us that Crow was, in fact, invited to go on the Mac's first trek in nearly five
years. (Look for the rest of the interview in the next issue of Rolling Stone.)

Heres what Stevie had to say:

"What happened is that it was absolutely discussed and [Sheryl] absolutely was
invited to join the band. The reason was I wanted another woman in the band, because I missed Christine so bad that it was just really hard for me to be in the boys
club. What happened was, really... everybody thinks it was just because Sheryl got
really excited and told the world about it a little bit too early. That wasn't what
it was. I started explaining to Sheryl what it was going to be like to be in this
band. It's all-encompassing, and for somebody with a new baby...for a woman in her
forties with a new baby, and as loving and as nurturing as Sheryl Crow is... if you
know her, you know that she just is a caretaker. We had a conversation at the
beginning of this year. I said, 'I rented a studio,' and it was around Mother's Day.
'You need to come in and we need to play music for two days, because we should. It's
not an audition for us, it's not an audition for you, it's just us to play music.
We'll set it all up and we'll be on a stage and have great monitors, and all your
pianos and everything will be set up. We're just going to rock for two days, go out
to dinner and hang out. We need to do that.'

She had all these really important plans, because it was her first Mother’s Day, and
she was also on the road, so she had to escape out of that for three days. I said,
'You have to do it, you have to come.' That was on a Thursday. She said to me, 'Are
you trying to talk me out of this by telling me how difficult this is going to be
for me?' I said, 'I'm not. I'm just being truthful with you. Imagine this, when we
went on the Say You Will tour, we thought it was forty shows. It was 135 shows.
Nobody knew that, but that’s what it was. And that was for an unhappy tour.'

'So it is kind of like joining the army. Personally, it's going to be very hard for
you. I'm not trying to talk you out of it, I'm just trying to let you know what it
is.' So she said, 'Okay, I'm going to think about it,' and she called us back two
days later. We were in the car, on speaker, and she said, 'I think I'm going to have
to pass.'

I said, 'Honey, as Stevie, your friend,' who spent three solid years with her
working on Trouble in Shangri-La in ’98, ’99, and 2000, I said, 'I think you're
making the right decision. As Stevie Nicks, I'm disappointed. But as your friend, I
think this is the right decision.'

Sheryl Crow passed on Fleetwood Mac, and I want that out there, because people seem to be getting different stories about this. That’s what happened."

There you have it!!!

It's just a little 2" recent, solo live pic from the waist up (black jacket and Stand Back Shawl draped over arms) . Bangs, eyes closed, singing into mic. Just a fairly generic, but decent, live shot. If it was anything fabooooolous, obviously I would have posted it. If everyone is still dying to see it, I can try to put it up.
