That is hilarious! And most probably true. Paul Fishkin was dating her in 1977. But then again she also said she and Don Henley dated for a year, and I believe they met on the road in the summer of 1976. And then there was Mick, who from all accounts began his affair with her in December of 1977 on the Rumours tour.

'August 24, 1977...One more time, on the plane. As usual, Lindsey is his usual asshole self. I am slowly coming to the conclusion that Lindsey and I are at an end. So sad to see good love go bad..."

Cozily enough, Stevie is 'rumoured' to have also had a fling with Walter Egan during the 1977 or '78 period while Lindsey was working on Egan's first two albums.

Walter Egan (from this site): "I'm not sure if you could actually say Stevie and I "dated". We were close for about 3 weeks and I always felt like it was of her just allowing me to be with her than a date. I guess you'd have to say Stevie broke it off and she seemed very pleased when I told her that "M&S" was about her."

michelej1
01-07-2009, 12:19 PM
Walter said:

"I didn't know anything about her but I just felt really drawn to her," Egan recalls. "For two weeks, it was great."

And then Nicks made the comparison that was the kiss of death for the relationship. "She said I reminded her of Lindsey," he says, wincing at the memory. "That was not a good thing. I said, 'Let's back off and finish the record.'"

Come on....no one wants to take a guess at Stevie's romantic timeline.....a rough sketch at least??

I'll start it off:
1. Lindsey- 1969 to 1976?
2. Don Henley- 1976

And she said that Les Dudek playing the guitar at night reminded her of all those nights with Lindsey playing the guitar at night and that's how she became accustomed to going to sleep, with guitar sounds as her lullabye.

Oh, and then on the other side we have: She's a lot like you.

Do you think Stevie & Lindsey hooked up on occasion through 1987?? Even though they were both in relationships??? Is there anything documented?? I wonder......

Moz
01-08-2009, 09:48 PM
Didn't Stevie go out with her high school prom date? I think Stevie and Lindsey started going out in 1970 and "broke up" in '76 or '77, but as far as I know, it was an on-again-off-again relationship. For all we know, they could've been boinking up until Tango.

"I guess you'd have to say Stevie broke it off and she seemed very pleased when I told her that "M&S" was about her."

Aww, I didn't know that.

Uhmmm . . . .

Lindsey -----> |Do they or Don't They???| If yes, Go To 2. If no, Go To 3.

2). Crying out to life eternally for a frozen love, while looking out below them and searching out above.

3.) ------> Mick (whose wife may or may not have been sent home by Mick beforehand, depending on who you ask and when you ask them.)

Then:

Either a.) Don Henley and Joe Walsh more-or-less at the same time or

b.) Don Henley, Joe Walsh, Jimmy Iovine, Paul Fishkin and/or Tom Petty
more-or-less at the same time, with Don Henley and Joe Walsh possibly
more-or-less threatening to kill each other. Also Tom Petty may or may
not have run into Prince coming up to "spend social time" with Stevie
while he was walking out, and it may or may not have been "awkward."
And somewhere in there was possibly Billy Idol and Rod Stewart.

Somewhere in there, back to Lindsey, then back to Mick, then back to Lindsey,
who she may have never really have broken up with in the FIRST place, then
back to Mick and Joe Walsh at the same time, then back to Lindsey and then
back to Mick.

Then, apparently, she went without a boyfriend from 1980 to 1997 - you believe that, right? Until in 1997 she finally dated a waiter but had to break up with him
"because guys just can't understand a woman being on the road all the time."

Oh, and she actually has been "secretly married" to Lindsey all this time with at least two children; and she may or may not have dated John McVie somewhere in there.

Anyway - you - BELIEVE all those "Rumours" - - - right? :D ;)

but what really stunned me was THIS PHOTO.

it says: Lindsey Buckingham and wife...IN 1994!!!! he wasn't with Kristen until 96 or 97 I think, am I right? Plus, he wasn't married, no way, and for me she doesn't look like K. I thought it may be Cheri Caspari, but didn't they split up in 1992?? at least, in that year he began to go out with Anne Heche.
I know this is off of topic, but I'm really surprised. I hope you can add some information to this!

yes, I think it's rupert too. For me, the mysterious "wife" must be Cheri. Look at this video, minute 8.08. The blonde girl, "Angel", is her, who made a tiny appearance in Pretty Woman. It could be her, they have the same long face.

I wouldn't think so. Andrew McManus is the music promoter who did Stevie's Gold Dust Tour of Australia/New Zealand in 2006 (as well as SYW in 2004). The photos on WireImage are from the 2005 Spring racing carnival - I think Stevie was here at the time to promote the upcoming tour. The Melbourne Cup especially is a pretty big deal, and I guess that Andrew McManus was just being a good host.

And of course, it never hurts to remind people that someone named Stevie Nicks is coming to do a couple of shows ;)

That's what I love about my favorite Tusk photo. It's the one where she's leaning on Lindsey's shoulder and a strand of hair is across her face. The look on her face seems to be saying . . . well it's wicked and triumphant.

I also like the hand through the strand of pearls and the way the pearls aren't hanging in front but are dropping down her back. There's just something artistic and sensual about that placement.

What I love about it is that from the photo footage that we have, Lindsey and Stevie were not even really acknowledging each other's presence. When they were on the sidelines, they got into a little argument about something on the radio, but when they are actually posing for pictures, they are ignoring each other. So, what happened in between what we saw being filmed and the final pictures, to get her in that position? Oh, yum.

It pleases me no end. It's been years, decades now, but I can still look at the picture, the knowing expression on her face and smile. Michele

Do you think Stevie & Lindsey hooked up on occasion through 1987?? Even though they were both in relationships??? Is there anything documented?? I wonder......
Well in Carol Ann's book she says how maybe a couple of times when Stevie was really upset.. Lindsey went to her hotel room to calm her down, yet was up there for quite awhile.. maybe during Mirage era...if I were Carol.. I would have been freaking!

yep, she said lindsey left their room so furious and when he went back from stevie's room, a lot of time later, he looked very calm. then, she adds:
"i didn't ask any questions. i didn't want to know what happened between them".

COME ONN! AND YOU DON'T ASK??? AAAHHHH

I was just re reading Storms again and I swear it feels like Stevie and Lindsey were having an affair right under her nose the entire time.

I think I need to reread Storms. I missed that the first time. I'll have to get it again from my Mom. Anyways- anyone have access to the book-and feel like sharing Carol Ann's quotes about Lindsey & Stevie's little redevous? Thx :)

Well, maybe Lindsey thought he and Carol had an "open" relationship and Carol wasn't aware of it...;)

Well, I moved and who knows where that book is now, but basically, the way it was written, Stevie supposedly grabbed Carol back stage and called her evil and said she'd never let Lindsey marry Carol.

No one saw this happen. There was an arena full of people around, but Stevie's body was blocking everyone's view. So, CAH was the only witness to this.

Believing Lindsey to be an incredibly violent man, naturally the first thing Carol thought to do was run to Lindsey and tattle on Stevie, apparently hoping that Lindsey would kill Stevie.

Lindsey did insist upon talking to a very nervous Stevie privately and he went to her hotel room with her. I guess Carol assumes that he showed Stevie what for avenged Carol. Readers, however, think that something else might have happened between Lindsey and Stevie that night. At any rate, Lindsey returned a calm man and Stevie was as sweet as pie to Carol the next day.

The reason it's so hard to get timelines is that Stevie isn't very specific when she talks about her relationships. We know she was with Dave Young in high school, then of course Lindsey starting around 1970, give or take a year (depending on who you ask). Apparently the Henley affair was during the tempestuous Rumours era, with Henley sending a Lear jet for her occasionally so they could hook up while the Eagles were touring. Not sure how long it lasted precisely, but it was over by Tusk. Mick was in between Rumours and Tusk. Hernan Rojas, Paul Fishkin and JD Souther were also around this time, I believe. And Walter Egan was a brief fling around the time he was doing Not Shy in 1978. Jimmy Iovine was during the making of Bella Donna and a bit after, 1981-1982 or thereabouts. The Kim Anderson debacle was in 1982 and bled over into 1983. Stevie hooked up with Joe Walsh when he was opening for her on the Wild Heart tour in 1983; by then, Henley was old news. They were together about three years. Rupert Hine was her man during the making of The Other Side of the Mirror.

Hookups include, but are not limited to, Dennis Wilson when he was dating Christine (according to Dennis, at least), and Dave Stewart of the Eurythmics.

This is not an exhaustive list, though. I have no idea who she's been with recently.

And when they ask her about the men in her life, she says... they were poets, priests of nothing, legends.... and dozens of other guys not really worth mentioning.

I always found very "curious" that CAH didn't stop mentioning stevie in her book, stevie this, and stevie and lindsey, and lindsey was always upset and angry because of stevie and their past relationship (or not so "past"), while mick, who maybe had more reasons of talking about her (one of them is that they were lovers) doesn't mention her so much, at least not in that obsessive way she uses (she aso copies stevie's style a bit). the part when stevie tells CAH that they were born the same day, both were blonde and liked to dress in black is so funny.

moreover, I heard that when the book arrived to the bookshops CAH made an interview in which stated that lindsey had always been in love with stevie. I've been looking for that interview for ages, so if anyone has a clue about where I could find it, I would be very thankful.

Stevie still sells more than Lindsey...

Here's a quote from an article that was titled "Sex, Lines and Audio Tape" from 2007. It was posted on Stevie-Nicks.info...

Carol Ann Harris, then a studio manager at the Producers Workshop in Los Angeles, where Rumours was mixed, and who began her relationship with Buckingham at that time, described the animosity between Buckingham and Nicks thus: The mood in the room would change from light to dark whenever they were together. The sheer tension between them was overwhelming; it literally stopped people in their tracks. They could say the most mean and hurtful things to each other. Not because they meant it, because I dont think they really did, but just because they wanted to cut the other one down. The big thing, though, was that Lindsey still loved Stevie. I know he did. Though all the time he was with me, he never stopped loving her. No matter how insane she made him, I dont think he was over the fact that they werent a couple any more. He blamed himself for their break-up, and I think she blamed herself as well. They had that in common, although it was an unspoken bond between them.

Here's one from Ken Caillat (same article) that's interesting:

And the sad thing was, these were two people who were madly in love for years and still were, I think. As I do now, in fact.

Hernan Rojas, Paul Fishkin and JD Souther were also around this time, I believe. Fishkin must have been late winter & spring 1978. Nicks & he attended a few industry events together, & my hunch is that he's the one who arranged for her to get on stage with Todd Rundgren in March at the Roxy for the "Back to the Bars" gigs. The Fishkin Era coincided with solo career planning in 1978. Plus, solo career briefs in the news started showing up in Rolling Stone & elsewhere at that time. Fishkin was probably getting that stuff in the papers.

And Walter Egan was a brief fling around the time he was doing Not Shy in 1978. Very brief, is my hunch, if at all. . . .

That's my favorite line in the whole book, because she says she told Stevie that John Wayne was born on that day too, which kind of shot holes in Stevie's cosmic point. I just thought that was superb, because I could visualize the look on Stevie's face.

As for Dennis Wilson, I don't ever think that was the rumor.

I just read that part in the book!!! Like, last night! How great is her writing? I mean, I felt as though I was standing in the wings of their first concert with her... UGH! She really paints a picture of stevie. PHEW! Here is the thing with Stevie and her relationships: I can feel how she easily falls in love with these guys. I would be crazy over Lindsey and would find it hard to be over him. The one guy I can't understand her diggin??? Jimmy Iovine... I mean- who saw that coming?

I read about the Dennis Wilson thing in one of those "unauthorized" biography books. They were talking about how awful he was to Christine, and that was one example. I hope it's not true, but I didn't make it up out of the air!
