Plus, she looks higher than a kite. OMG, is that really nose hair? I feel guilty looking at that pic (in the same way as when you drive slow to see a car wreck!). Ricoh

I really doubt those are nose hairs. Looks like shadows or creases.

When Life magazine released all those pictures from their vault, I saw this picture for the first time. It is truly the worst Stevie picture of all time. For a tiny sliver of time, I thought of posting it here under that title, but it was too cruel for me. I'm glad you just linked to it. This beats that sad sad picture of her circa 1993 wearing a white veil, holding a doll, and stepping on an escalator. Maybe someone knows which one I'm talking about.

this picture was JUST posted here on the ledge in the stevie forum, two weeks ago in another thread. Hated it then, hate it now.

Maybe it's not nose hair. Maybe it's burst blood capillaries.

I vote blood capillaries or similar. If Mama has nose hair like THAT, you know she's gotta be vigilant about keeping it under control. Yeesh.

"YES, Stevie, your fans still adore you! :D
As a matter of fact, there's a hundred fan letters waiting on that
table over there to be read, any time you want! :D
Hmm? Yes, I definitely took care of that business we discussed.
And then I polished your AWARDS in your DISPLAY case and
shined all of your PLATINUM RECORDS and neatened all the
great REVIEWS you've received over the years. Hey by the way
did I ever mention how much I LOVE working for you? Anyway
I think the tour is going great! :D And I think you're going to get
even more awards than ever - and the FANS were positively
ENCHANTED! :D We all LOVED that beautiful sequened shawl
that you designed, too - and you were so FUNNY later!
. . . . Oh . . . BY the WAY! . . . . . . . . . ."
 ;)
Yeesh.

It's bad, but still- most of us look like that on a good day.

nose hair........what a subject!
But since it was brought up, do you think that's why Stevie didn't like the picture used on the "NIGHTBIRD" single? And maybe that's why the picture sleeve was pulled?

The Nightbird sleeve wasn't pulled, it just wasn't mass produced. "Nightbird" was the last single from "The Wild Heart" and so only a handful of sleeves were produced for it. The song wasn't a huge hit so only the first run got the sleeve. This was very common back in the day for the last single to either have no sleeve at all or to be in limited production.

Now I'm intrigued. What was on the Nightbird sleeve?

I can't find a picture of the actual single, but here's the artwork actually used:

Well.... This isn't exactly the most beautiful picture of Stevie I've ever seen..... Anyone know when this was? But I don't think those are nose hairs... I'm thinking creases or something along those lines..... So glad she's moved on from this time. My GODDDD!!!

If it's from 1993, not surprise at all. Stevie was in a bad moment, as lot of artists were sometime (Elton, Bowie, Anthony Hopkins,) but fortunately she did recover.
Cruel? Yes it is. Surprised? I'm not. Media is cruel, really cruel with anyone. And unfortunately those are the kind of pictures or gossip that sell magazines, tabloids, etc. At the end general people are the real guilty. Yes ricohv, we all should feel relatively guilty

You might be right. The single didn't do very well, which is unfortunate because it's my favorite Stevie song. But I do remember reading that she didn't like the photo used on the single. So everytime I see that picture I wonder why?
I have the original Worthington picture framed and hanging on my wall. To me the nose hairs are a little more clear to see in the original than the scan on this thread. I have the picture sleeve also, but it's too much trouble to get it out to compare.
The Ledge, your news source for nose hairs!

Well, I look like I done got runned over by a truck on a good day, so Stevie is doing VERY well. The "Yeesh" was meant to be a "yikes" type noise, though.

Naw. Say it with more long E sounds, like "yeeeeeeeeesh." I should stick to phonetically-spelled noises that are less ambiguous, methinks.

Hey Donna..
I agree.. it almost looks like shadows, somehow.. or something else. I'm really getting horribly sick and tired of seeing all the "Stevie bashing/ Herbie bashing threads" going on over here, as you would think that this is some other type of board, IMO.. It's enough to make a "Supporting Member" like myself just leave.. or stick with chit chat forums.. as I don't even want to comment, as you get your head "blown" off - and nasty PM's from people! Pretty disgusting if you ask me!
Hugs,
Arlene

Maybe I have a really thick skin or something, but I didn't see this as "bashing," per se. It IS a bad photo, after all.
Then again, I don't get nasty PMs, either. I feel left out! :distress:

LOLOLOLOL.. Please I don't want you feeling left out! LOL.. I wouldn't want any of my friend's subjected to what I went thru! LOLOLOL.. I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemies! But the Herbie bashing, and yes, I have thick skin too, as I've had to grow that over the years.. LOL.. But I don't think it's too flattering, do you? Not that everything about Stevie "is indeed" flattering.. She does her own self in with her interviews, being contradictory.. but when I see this sorta stuff, one by one, it's very "depressing" at best..

I'm pretty sure this pic is from '91 when she was promoting Timespace. I actually have a video somewhere of her being interviewed on "Rockline" and she's wearing the same thing as she is in this pic. I believe she was plugging Timespace but I could be mistaken. It's a short interview but she does seem very "happy" in it.

Ahhh, I'm sorry, cookie. The Interwebs, it can be a mean place.
I can't think of anything to bash Mr. Worthington over - he's been kind to me, and I think his photography of Stevie is absolutely iconic. I might whine internally that the calendars and prints are a bit expensive, but that's only because I am broke right now.
The fact that Stevie can go from hot mess to completely gorgeous and back again is part of the attraction for me. I love her when she's floating around the stage looking perfect, and I love her when she's trundling around wrapped in blankets (yes, they are shawls, but they sometimes look like blankies) with her hair everywhere - it's all the same to me, all Stevie.
It just lets us see she's as human as the rest of us, bad photos and all - except that in the GOOD photos of me, I don't look even as remotely good as she does in her most mediocre one.

You might be right. The single didn't do very well, which is unfortunate because it's my favorite Stevie song. They didn't release the single until after her tour was over, & by that time the album itself was already on the market six months. The album was no RUMOURS, so it wasn't going to have that kind of longevity. It was just a timing problem with NIGHTBIRD.

Oh honey, I'm 26 and I don't look half as good as she does right now.
And even with all that money - the fact that she still sometimes looks a hot mess when we know she's got makeup people, and hair people, and personal trainers, and a huge closet I would give my left arm to see inside in person...yeppers, human. :blob1:
