I have heard Stevie and others mention this movie several times and I was just wondering if anyone could lend any insight on why or how she thought that she was going to do a movie. I even heard this interview on the radio tonight with a record producer that said that she tried to get him involved in it and wrote several songs for it but the whole thing never went through. If anyone has these demos and you could share that would be awesome.
Thanks
Jess

Stevie has mentioned many ideas and projects that never get off the ground. The "Rhiannon" movie is one of them; she hasn't talked about that one for a while, but mentioned it in interviews for several years in the eighties. She also talked about making a cartoon based on her demo song "Goldfish and Ladybug."
My feeling is that many of her ideas are just vague sketches searching for someone to flesh them out. While Lindsey Buckingham is there to deal with her to flesh out her songs, she's never found anyone capable and willing enough to realize her mystic muses outside of the music realm.

And even Lindsey doesn't want to help her with those musical aspects at times....
She mentioned the movie in some interviews from the recent tour I think. Maybe the interviewer asked what she was planning on after the tour was over and she said something about going to Europe and maybe working on the movie idea. I realize that it's Stevie though and she is somewhat prone to being a little space cadet at times.

So true!:wavey:
There is a song "The Three Birds Of Rhiannon" that is really nice. I used to be obessed with those demos -- the first unreleased stuff from her that I ever heard -- back in the mid-eighties. First got them on low-fi cassette tapes. Then I obtained a three album set of demos that feature her artwork on the cover. I haven't played them in a while, so I can't recall what was on them. I do remember loving a very rare performance of Silver Springs from the Rumours tour, at a time when the song was still very obscure. It was a very rocking verison -- and very unlike the polished version of recent years.

She had actually brought up the Rhiannon movie in interviews in the last year or so. Supposedly she was going to go rent a house in Mexico, and go down there and do some writing to get the project off the ground after her talking about it for 30 years. This was when she was fighting with Fleetwood Mac (mainly Lindsey) in the press, saying she would't do anything with them again, and she wouldn't record another solo album either. I don't think we'll ever see the light of day on this, and that's just fine with me... :sorry:

There was actually quite a bit of effort, and many paths pursued to get the movie made.

They should have sold options on the property to Tarkovsky.
