The Nightmare can't go this early. It is a very cool song.

I agree... I love The Nightmare! I especially love the verse that goes

"somewhere in her ancient ways, she walks through the night..."

The song is just very visual... you can really hear her inner struggle. It seems to me the song is about her grappling with fame, relationships, and likely drug addiction, ie: that fame hasn't exactly been all she thought it would be. But that's just MY personal take :woohoo: .

I'm sorry but this album is the whole reason why people say Stevie sings like a goat...

Voted for Imperial Hotel again, but now I'm thinking maybe I made a mistake there (too late to go back sadly). I'm having a listen to the album as I type and thinking there are probably worse songs.

Sorry I love you Stevie but...

“I sing for the things” voted off first? Hmmm mmm mmm, shame on the lot of you. ISFTT is beautiful and heartfelt. “Have you ever been in love, have you touched the soul of someone? Did the fear inside you make you turn and run?”

Imperial Hotel is my favorite song on this record--and one of my all-time favorite Stevie songs in general. But one of my friends, a die-hard Stevie fan, thinks it's the worst song on the album. I can't understand why!

I cast my vote for The Nightmare, I always bypass this song on the cd, and there are others that make the "nightmare status" but those are for future rounds:nod:

I can't believe how many people hate this song......... I think it is one of the best on the CD!! But then again I tend to like the Stevie songs that others hate......

Again, if you were in your late teens in the late 80's, this was a great CD. I agree that in retrospect (i.e. you're in your late teens NOW and are reviewing her music over the years), it may not be one of her best, vocally.

I also think that this album truly represents such a turning point in Stevie's career and really, in her life. While it may not have been a turn in a good direction, for me it was at this time when her live performances (with some exceptions) became much less impassioned. When she sang HAEWAFY live during this era, she MEANT it, tears and all.

Nooo! I can't believe the Nightmare is getting voted off so soon! I love the piano demo and the final versions!

I love the way Stevie sings "This is not the world, not the world, not the real world!"

I agree, I really like the Nightmare. It's one of my favorite songs of her's lyrically. And musically it ain't half bad. Though I do prefer the alternate version too.

She wants you to knoooowwwww... she wants you to heaaarrr thaaaaat.... MELODYYYY...

Sing it Stevie!

Anyway, I'm just going to vote for Talk to Me until it finally says goodbye, like it should've done when the album was in the works. I know it ain't going anywhere anytime soon, but it's the only one I can easily pick.

I wish Stevie had really lived up to the title and made it a crazy, Def Leppard style hard rock album.
