That band has nil personality on this song. But the singing is pretty interesting!

I agree. And, they play with little care to where she is on the vocal. But, she more than compensates for it in the vocal. In fact, she kind og has that breathless quality in the vocal that the Tusk doc song has, though it is just glimpses of that.

I don't think Stevie's BAND has EVER played to follow Stevie. Stevie's band obviously has been trained to play their own individual parts, and if anything follow Waddy. Whereas, say, Patti LaBelle's band follows Patti, and works as a whole to keep up with whatever she's doing.

They just seemed to jell. In my opinion..this band sounded better backing her than the "Timespace" one I've seen in vids lately. I don't know what it is exactly, but there's a certain vibe..a chemistry. I also think she's got a great rhythm section going too.

I seem to have the sole diverging opinion on this one LOL. I love the way Stevie's band kinda kept in the background for this one, and just let her vocals make the statement. And Stevie's vocals were truly devine on this one... not something you can always say of Ms Nicks this day and age. The first half dozen times I saw this performance, it totally brought tears to my eyes... she's finally enjoying performing this song, and she just totally nailed it to boot. I honestly think this is the best live rendition of Sara I've heard, new or old  .

I agree. Its not a "loud" band song really. The music in the back should be a bit more subdued. Mick always said it was a "drummers nightmare"

yes! I always felt it was one of Stevie's better "story" songs. Its like the band is in the background and she's telling a story. Many of her songs are like that, but that one just gels...it's more coherent....oh what's the word. Hell, it just works.
