I thought I would open a thread dedicated to discussing the many dedications of Landslide. As we all know, Stevie has dedicated nearly every performance of this song to various different individuals for various different reasons over the years.

Tonight I came across this 1990 version,
dedicated to "Buckingham Nicks, because I hope that maybe someday he will find it in his heart to spend some time with me again and maybe do some more music":

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/9y5yWJ3K4OM&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/9y5yWJ3K4OM&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Stevie even changes the lyrics to "'til the landslide brought us down" and "yes we're getting older too..."

Does anyone have other Landslide dedications to share? :)

At Stevie's Chicago concert this year, she dedicated Landslide to 'Melissa'. She said something about how it "Usually goes out to my dad, but tonight it's going to Melissa. You've been to every single show I've done, and I'm the only person I know other than you that's done that! So tonight Melissa, it's going to you!"
*fan screams*

Speaking of which, does anyone have any Landslide demos/outtakes? I have never seen any, and would love to hear some. Perhaps there is a Buckingham Nicks version yet to be discovered. Anyways, it seems very hard to find any White Album/Rumours demos... anyone like to share?

Landslide is dedicated to "You"... I love this because it must be one of the earliest versions we have.

There was a website that had a ton of dates that Landslide was done, and it stated who Stevie dedicated it too. I forget the link - does anyone have it?

I really love that video you posted. Great to see LB join them for that one.

"Because this is a really special night, as you can see we are filming you...I want to make a special dedciation tonight that I really haven't made before. I want to dedicate this song to Lindsey because he taught me how to play the guitar that I used to write this song, he inspired this song and I wrote this song about him. It's called Landslide..."

For LIB didn't she say she hadn't ever dedicated it to Lindsey?

She says it like "really haven't made before" or "haven't really made before," something like that, so I suppose that kind of leaves some leeway - total semantics thing, though, lol.

I imagine she's done that song so many times that perhaps it's difficult to remember every time she's dedicated it to so and so and when?

I think my favorite dedications are the ones she does now with the video of her & her dad, with the story about how he always thought it was about him so she let him think that, even though it wasn't, and then she dedicates it to him again. I think it's funny and really touching at the same time.

When I saw her this yr in Boston she dedicated it to her Dad and explained he had recently passed and then in the backround was all kinds of photos on the screen while she sang it. Whoever she does dedicate to I think the song means alot to her and always will:thumbsup:

I think what she meant on the LIB version was she was finally admitting the song was about Lindsey - she seemed to be very deliberate in her delivery when she said she wrote the song for him and about him. I think that's why she pointed out she was doing it because it was being filmed and she was just setting all the speculation aside on that one. That's what I think she's referring to when she said she was making a dedication that she had never really done before.

But, on this one:

"I need to dedicate this tonight to Lindsey, & he knows why -- He's my one true love for now & for always. It's called LANDSLIDE."

Somebody had a happy birthday! LOL...

I thought I had heard of another dedication to Lindsey, in addition to the one David mentioned... Rhode Island 1977? I might be wrong on this, I have never heard the show before.

I have never seen any demos/outtakes, but I hope someone out there has them!
In the meantime, I have a lot of live versions . This one has a sweet dedication and outstanding vocals:

Actually, she's probably dedicated it to Lindsey plenty of different times.

But I know what you mean, CADreaming.

Also, while her dad was still alive, she said it was about Lindsey and the decision whether to continue on with their relationship several times too. Jess must have been hard-headed and didn't listen.
