Unique Jimi Hendrix guitar up for auction

Prefix readers with a lot of money in their pockets might be interested in the following item. Yesterday it was announced that a slew of James Brown memorabilia was going under auction. Not to be outdone, Jimi Hendrix’s estate has announced that a guitar belonging to the rock legend is also up for grabs.

But this is no ordinary guitar. If you want to lay down some smokin’ riffs, you’ve definitely found the right instrument. The guitar was set on fire during a show at the Astoria in London in 1967, and has been carefully stored in the family home of Hendrix's former press officer, Tony Garland, ever since.

An auction house named the Fame Bureau is putting the item under the hammer on September 4. A pair of jeans belonging to Stevie Nicks and a Havana cigar used by Madonna in a photo shoot are also up for grabs.

Torched Hendrix guitar expected to sell for $1 million...

The guitar torched by late rock legend Jimi Hendrix during a live performance in London is expected to fetch £500,000 at auction in September.

The 1965 Fender Stratocaster was doused with lighter fuel and set on fire by Hendrix at the London Astoria in 1967.

It was the first time Hendrix had set his guitar on fire. He later repeated the stunt at the Monterey Pop Festival.

Hendrix was taken to hospital following the Astoria stunt, where he was treated for minor burns.

Worn by Stevie where? If they're the Rosebud jeans, now that might be worth something!

Otherwise, if she just wore the jeans at home while cleaning out the storm drain, I'm not sure if the're really authentic.
