View Full Version : Just An Appology In Advance: My Demo Computer Crashed Awhile Back~

Alright, my lovely computer that had many many many lovely demos/outtakes and such crashed a few months ago. I was kind of out of a "Stevie/Mac" mode so it wasn't quite as devestating, but now that I am getting back in the mood, I am very much missing the things that I had (as well as the pictures that I lost). You all, this computer had EVERYTHING, City of Angels, a million Smile At Yous, songs that I had never heard before and whatnot, so to those of you who have experienced this, you know it is devestating. So if you all don't mind, I'll think I'll be starting some picture/outtake demo threads in the coming weeks, of course divided by era, to hopefully reclaim some of these, as well as sharing the few that I have, and plus, for any fan lacking any of the takes that come up, they would be able to treasure them too.

I hope you all understand.:)

Much Love,
Ethan

Why don't you just look through this thread?

http://ledge.fleetwoodmac.net/showthread.php?t=33649&page=2

All of the links Nixxxed posted are still working.

Man, I have tried those, but my computer won't play those kind of files. I don't know what kind they are (they have the icon of the folder with the zipper) but this older computer won't play it. I'm sorry to have started a thread about this, but I wouldn't have if those would have worked. Know what I mean.

hey ethan:wavey:...i feel ur pain as i just recently upgraded my hard drive from 60 gig to 160 gig...however i was very smart as i backed up all my demos onto cd and also an external hard drive...in order to open those files u just need winzip...its a free trial and it will allow u to open all of nix's demos...i'm not sure how long the demo lasts for but i think it may be 15 days as that's what they usually run...good luck with the downloading and i'll look forward to helping u any way i can with this...pat

Thanks Pat, I had totally planned on putting some of those demos and such on CD as I've done that many times in the past, but I'm kind of OCD when it comes to which songs go on what CD and their order and all of that, and with my business, I didn't have the time to do it~

That's a zip file. In them are regular MP3s. You just to unzip them, there's loads of free software to do that on the web and truthfully it would be easier for you to download that software than for everyone to re-up these files (because it actually takes time to do that, believe it or not). There's loads there, it's a real treasure trove if you do that.

Alternatively, Vivfox has started quite a few threads in which he's posted individual files, which, from what I can see, many are also still active. He was posting demos and outtakes in alphabetical order. If you go to his profile and click on all the threads he's started you should be able to find them.

I'm not having a go at you Ethan! I'm just letting you know that all the stuff you want and need is already here on the board.

This is great advice. Please try these suggestions before you begin new threads. Thanks.

I know you're not going at me. :nod:I've just been away from the board for awhile and haven't been as regular on here, so I have missed things and I appologize. Which program do you think is best, Winzip?

As far as I know none of my old links are still active. If they are active it's news to me. Which ones are still active Sharon?

I don't know Vivfox, you'd be better saying wouldn't you? If you say they are not active then they aren't, I've never downloaded any of your stuff. I assumed they were because I thought it wasn't that long ago that you posted them and then I remember you bumped it saying they were still active.
But it was just a suggestion, I'm sorry if it offends you that I was trying to help someone out. I'm sure Ethan will forgive me my terrible mistake.

But I know for sure Nixxxed stuff is working and I can't imagine you posted anything he didn't, since he pretty much posted all his collection.

And yes Ethan, winzip is def worth downloading. You'll be able to download and unzip some of the great shows saintbernard posted in the CD a day thread too if you have that!
Edit: I say this, but I haven't checked those in a while either, so I'm sorry if they aren't. They were posted on mediafire, so again I assume they are still working. I'm sure people will be more than happy to help out with anything no longer working, but it's worth having a look for the working links first. :)

I didn't mean to sound accusatory Sharon. I was just suprised because I thought you were telling Ethan I had working links. No harm there. You were just trying to help Ethan and that's cool with me.
Since Stevie made that statement about her hardcore fans hitting the SEND button and then giving away her music to 5 million other people I decided I would no longer share the demos. I am grateful that I have the songs that I have and tho I've freely shared them in the past I will no longer be posting any more unreleased music. Just old interviews from now on. As far as I am aware I have deleted all the links I had posted, including the mediafire links. But kindly Sharon if you know of any links I have that are still active please let me know so I can delete them. I'm only speaking for myself here about file sharing. Everyone else is free to post if they so desire.
I would guess that since Bob Welch and Jeremy Spencer and Tom Montcrief read the Ledge boards then more than likely Stevie, Lindsey, Mick and John have been here too. Knowing how Stevie feels about her demos in circulation I have decided to respect her wishes from this day onward.

Do you still listen to the demos Viv? Just curious.

You all seriously, let's please not start something. Thank you to those who made suggestions, as I readily appreciate them. But seriously can we please not get into a poking argument or whatever. Please~:)

Nobody is fighting, Ethan- no worries. Just spend some time looking for the songs you want and try not to post new threads until you have exhausted those avenues.
