thanks for posting this one! I"m considering being Stevie yet again for Halloween. I've done RAL/Tango Stevie in the past, but this year I'm doing WH Stevie. This pic is a wonderful reference point for me. Can't decide if I want to do long shawl (as pictured) or short shawl and lacy/chiffon top underneath. I"m thinking the long shawl will make a greater impact. I also want to be as recogonizable as Stevie as possible, but I think a fringed shawl, no matter what the length, will guarantee that.

I got it instantly. When this photo was taken Sarah Jessica Parker was already in the movie "Footloose" with Kevin Bacon. She was in her early 20's then. No offence to SJP, but Tom Petty doesn't have a horse face. So how he looks like her, sounds silly. No there were several music videos in the early 90's where Petty wasn't bad looking. He's not an ugly man, but he's not a pretty man...he's ok in my book. So you're not the only one. I thought he got a little more attractive in the late 80's and early 90's.
Especially for the videos "Into the Great Wide Open", "You Don't Know How It Feels", and "Mary Janes Last Dance".

In Too Deep is the most moving pop song of the 1980s, about monogamy and commitment. The song is extremely uplifting. Their lyrics are as positive and affirmative as anything I've heard in rock.

PS - This is Sussudio. A great, great song. A personal favorite.

I used to marvel at the way Stevie could get around the stage so fast in boots. It wasn't her spinning or her kicks so much as her lateral movement and its speed that I admired. Of course, she had artificial energy, but still that she did it all in such high heels is impressive.

Thinking of the heels reminds me of Ginger Rogers' line about doing everything that Fred Astaire did, but backwards and in heels. Point taken, but . . . Although Ginger was very talented, she wasn't really doing everything that Astaire was doing.

I was in the East Hartford Public Library today when I stumbled across this photo in a book called "Classic Rock Stars." It was a gorgeous crystal-clear full page reproduction, and they had the book for sale on the used book table...and I didn't buy it...for some reason.
So if there's anyone in Hartford Country who wants to buy a copy of Classic Rock Stars and scan this photograph at high resolution (without the hideous vertical lines screwing it up), please do so. Do it for the children. Do it for the world.
