someone mentioned violet and blue in another thread and I froze in my tracks. I'd forgotten all about this AMAZING song, which I loved so much when it first came out. Why oh why did I forget it?

I just tried to purchase it on I-tunes but it's not available! Ugh! Does someone have an Mp3 of it?

That happens every so often...As a matter of fact, I haven't thought of that song in a while either. Such a great song...sorry, I don't have an mp3 of it.

Unusually, it's on the UK iTunes.

I think the rule on this board has always been we're not allowed to post commercially available songs, but I guess it's up to Michele.

But you know, I always find it baffling why any Stevie fan wouldn't own the Enchanted box set. It's pretty much a must-have imo.

I agree the Enchanted box set is a must have, just its so hard to come by, and when you do [say in FYE, etc.] the price is outrageous!
Then on eBay you can find it, but either shipping is horrible, some stuff is missing out of the boxt [-.-]. or you get outbid at the last second.

Plus in my opinion the only disc that is a must have is the Third with the rare stuff, the other two are basically just her CDs on another CD...

But anyways, Violet and Blue, I have never heard this song. ever.
:(

oh and aleuzzi...what you could do to get it on iTunes, is send in a request to apple.com. I did that with the Enchanted box set. I would like to just get a few songs off of it, and you can write that in the 'comment' section of the form.

Here's the link to Apple's site if you want to send in a request to the US store.

It's not that expensive or that hard to get, it's $27 on Amazon (although there's a few weeks wait for it) and as little as $18 on Amazon marketplace for a new copy, which you would get right away.

http://www.amazon.com/Enchanted-Works-Stevie-Nicks/dp/B0000062S2/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1214919249&sr=8-1

The other two CDs do have some rare stuff too, different versions of the Street Angel tracks, Edge Of Seventeen live, I Can't Wait extended, Garbo and What Has Rock N Roll Ever Done For You.

Honestly, try Amazon marketplace. I use it all the time and have never had any trouble. I sympathise that you just want a few tracks, but given Stevie's recent comments about fans sharing her stuff, I don't really want to prove her right.

Actually, I was in Sam's the other day and they had the Enchanted boxset for $25 new and I about $h!T myself. And I've seen it in several places like Hasting's used for around $30.

Btw, Violet And Blue ROCKS!

I sent a PM to trackaghost about amazon, havent gotten to look yet. There aren't any Sam's around me...well a BJs, and I have no idea what Hasting's is...I live in the middle of nowhere :( lol., but Those prices aren't bad. Just at FYE its like 50 bucks for a new 3 disk set. I find that outrageous. [sp?]

I guess its all about where you look.

Maybe there's a loophole. If you post an alternate/demo to the one that was made commercially available... then it isn't actually the same song, right?

I'm pretty sure I bought my Enchated box set on Amazon. And it may have even been the marketplace. I think it was under $25. Always check Amazon. They have the best prices, generally, if you don't want to mess with an auction on Ebay. Plus, if you spend over $25, shipping is free. That doesn't apply to the marketplace, but shipping there is usually only $2.98. Shipping on Ebay is usually higher cause that's where sellers make part of their profit.

Enchanted box set is a must have. Buy it.

Thanks, I will check UK I-tunes! I wholeheartedly agree with the policy and just wanted access to the song. Can't wait!

I have a question about UK iTunes...
If you have an account on iTunes USA, but you sign into the UK one, could I use my account money to buy songs?
I would just get the few I want for a few dollars...

I can't beleive that UK iTunes has Enchanted, and the USA doesn't...wtf?

I tried setting up an account there (you can't use your USA account) but it wouldn't take my "American" credit card. Strange, coz I've purchased many things with it in the past from European sellers.

I gave up because a couple of ledgies were extremely kind to give me demos/alternate takes of the track. When I get money together, I'm purchasing "Enchanted"--something I've wanted for years anyway.

All I want to say about this thread is that I love Violet and Blue. Such a cool track.
I like the alternate version better, just wish it was better audio quality. I have sucked down alternate versions so many times, always hoping one of them would be clean, like a master reel. But alas, no. One version I have is tolerable (barely). I like the alternate better cause I like the ending, where "violet and blue" is repeated and heard better, as opposed to "take it with you" being sung through the end.

Officially rambling.

So true.

Nicks needs to pull this one out and go live. Yank Fall From Grace or Sorcerer and replace with Violet and Blue.

Here is the demo that someone mentioned. What I like about it is the percussion at the beginning. I would have extended that just a little bit. And it has a more prominent guitar instead of an organ, which I also prefer.

Were there any other songs that Chris Lord-Alge remixed back then?

Violet & Blue - unreleased Timespace remix by Chris Lord-Alge:

http://www.mediafire.com/?5z9dunylzhb

No, it's not a thumpa-thumpa dance remix, but still very nice. The background vocals are more prominent and layered, the harmony is restored to the bridge, and more Roy Bittan!

(Thanks again, Daniel.)

I love this mix even better than the original but did you guys notice it's in mono? Does anyone know if there's a stereo mix of this available anywhere?

It is in stereo. Although, this mix is not very good. I honestly hate all the Chris Lord-Algae mixes. He makes everything sound hollow and tiny, even other artists.

Personally, I think the the Enchanted version of Violet and Blue sounds the best, although not my favorite take of the song.

Unfortunately, that's the only version circulating.

I like the remix too. Chris Lord-Alge can occasionally go overboard with the drum track. But his work on "Sleeping Angel" is great, one of the few remixes that is an upgrade over the original.

Were there any other songs that Chris Lord-Alge remixed back then?

I think Violet and Blue (and Battle of the Dragon, alleged to be his work) is the least known of all of his remixes. The rest seemed to have been released on various singles and EPs.
