Does she wear one? I never really thought so until I saw those HS reunion pics. I do not see scalp just hair.

I think she has extensions. Not the kind that makes one's hair longer, but thicker. When she would bend over to bow etc., you could kind of see where the top part of her hair didn't flow the way it should, had it been natural.

She absolutely has worn extensions in the past decade. Just look back to the time Trouble In Shangri La was released... she did an interview with VH1 with black extensions mixed in with her blonde hair (she also had on this CHUNKY crystal necklace... I wish I could find a pic of her looking like this again). Hell, even look at the past 2-3 years how much the length/thickness of her hair has varied, and I don't think you could chop it up to cutting/regrowing. I give Stevie one thing... for the past 10 years, her hair has ALWAYS looked good though!

I love her hair here...this is when she and linds are figuring out where to put the spirit catcher in the DR doc.

This stood out most for me during the interim after the SYW tour ended when she ended up in Australia for the horse race wearing that tux jacket and top hat. Her hair had grown (or at least increased) amazingly.
It has definitely been one of her best features during the last few years. I love when she stands in front of the drum kit and just shakes her head wildly, sometimes bending her entirely upside down. And at the Tom Petty concert, her moment in the strobe lights, with her hair flying was a high point of the show.

As they got into the SYW tour they began doing this thing during Don't Stop where Stevie would turn her back to Lindsey and he would just lay his head in her hair. By that point, at the end of the song, he was sweating and out of breath and it was as if she was offering her mane as his pillow. I just ate that up.

I think she has extensions. .
I'm ignorant about that extensions stuff. Is it a permanent thing? I mean, for example a ledgie posted pictures of her at an airport, remember it? Was she wearing extensions?

I don't know about that picture, but basically, extensions are woven into the natural hair. Depending upon how much one pays for it, it can be very real looking or very fake looking.
Bad extensions:

Good extensions:

My husband's salon does hair extensions, and I've considered trying it. But the damn things are expensive. Just the hair alone costs a fortune.

Strobe lights were awesome!!!
She or the Mac should use the strobe lights in a song on their own shows. It worked well. Also, I wish there was a song where they did the call and answer that Tom Petty had on "Learning to Fly." As it is people sing along with Landslide, but I like the way Tom sang part of one line and the audience finished his sentence. I wish there was a Mac song that lent itself to that treatment. It makes the audience part of the band.

I'm going to go off on a hair semi-tangent here...
I really love the way Stevie uses her hair as an ethereal instrument while performing...it is like cornsilk floating around with every twirl and crane of her neck. Her long mane is like a beacon to draw you into her magical presence.
I have long wavy hair and I feel it is a part of who I am as a woman. My point is that hair is a very important extension of who a person is. I am not saying short hair is not becoming on women by any means. I just feel IMHO that there is something about having lengthy hair. But to each her own...I am just one woman.

Hair Stories, Gold and Braid:
I liked how Stevie explained her Whole Lotta Trouble hair on CV, all the time she spent braiding it every night.
I liked how we got to see the Today show rehearsal with FM, before her hair was done.
And I liked Cory's telling us about how everyone joked with Stevie, even John, showing up with one of her big rollers in his hair.

I don't know where the hell I read it (was a few years ago), but Lindsey said Stevie's hair always smells "intoxicating".
Also that she loves Fracas parfum and that Linds loved the smell of it. I have to say I have the perfume and it is the most gorgeous scent I have ever smelled.

I think there is no doubt that she does extensions, albeit, very good extensions. Case in point: The "Sorcerer" video, where it looks to be down-below-the-butt long.

I suspect that after all of the years of bleaching, teasing and spritzing, her real locks are probably pretty banged up.

Right, and also- age. Getting older does nasty things to one's hair.

And she talks about how the Klonopin turned all her hair gray and made it fall out. I think that's why she says she mostly wears it straight now, because it had been damaged so much in the past and can't take constant heat anymore.

Remember when Stevie got audited, one of the things the IRS said she took improper "business" deductions for was hair styling.
Now that we have been through the Say You Will tour where Stevie and Lindsey wore the exact same clothes for 2 years, one of the things Stevie's lawyer said during that tax audit seems very amusing in retrospect:
"Much of this clothing is discarded immediately after use because it simply cannot be reused, given the energy levels of [Nicks's] performances and the heat generated on stage from lights and physical exertion".
