The Broadcasting Live DVD is out and it IS indeed the US Fest. show from '83. The overall picture quality is decent as is the sound. There is a big note on the back of the case stating that this is not authorized by Stevie and/or her management. So, it's a professionally done bootleg. The one major flaw with it is they tried to make it look like it's in widescreen so the full screen picture has been reduced to the center of the TV screen with the words "Stevie Nicks" and "Broadcasting Live" running along the sides of the screen. Maybe on a big screen TV it won't look so bad, but on a regular TV it's like watching a 12" image on a 36" screen. However, this print is one of the better copies I've seen over the years, I have several copies on VHS and this DVD print is really good.
This is one of Stevie's best live performances, she's clearly stoned out of her mind, but not as bad as the "Red Rocks" show. Her band intros "Over here on my....whatever side this is" to her talking about the "Wild Heart" album, "The girls and I will deliver it to your door, like girl scout cookies" to her running across the stage and hopping over the monitors, it's a great show!
I don't believe this is available in the States, but you can order it from Amazon Canada for $22 US.

I would pay good money for the Fleetwood Mac US festival performance.

No kidding. There has to be some footage of that somewhere.

Thanks for the review. I would have probably been disappointed if I had gotten it with the borders on it. What year did FM play the US Festival?

Fleetwood Mac played there in 1982

I used to have a video that had the entire performances of Tusk and Songbird from the US Fest in '82 (like perfect picture quality); but alas, I had sent to it another trader to copy it onto DVD for me and never got it back from them

Is this Broadcasting Live DVD available on Amazon or other US retailers. This has always been one of my favorite Live Stevie performances....
I believe it's because it's at the pinnacle of her success, BD was already a massive success continuing with "Gypsy" and "Mirage".

She was undefiant and brimming w/ confidence as a performer and singer and had charisma for days. This is the point in her career where she could do no wrong, before the drugs became too massive and her personal baggage started to take it's toll, which soon became appearant in the overdelayed, overblown and overegoed behemoth that became the Rock a Little era.......(which I still loved!!!) It's a Stevie we would never see again, and almost never did.

Spot on...Couldn't agree with you more. Although I love this US show, I think the all time best is the '81 concert. Regardless, overall back then she had such a sparkle and light in her eyes that has been gone since. Her whole being was intriguing. Or, maybe it's the doe-eyed beauty of her youth that I'm confusing it with? It could also be my own naive perception being a young teenager back then...I actually thought during RAL that she was just trying to be funky like Prince and that the "wild heart has just gotten even wilder" and that she's jazzing up her concerts by simply being more energetic and that her bloating is nothing more than the results of age. Nonetheless, I also long for those innocent days that we didn't know anything "behind the music." You put the record on and imagined what you wanted. You didn't go to the concert and worry beforehand whether she was going to look and sound good or wonder whether she herself wanted to be there.

I picked up this bootleg yesterday in a little shop on Hollywood Blvd. The DVD is called "Us Festival Live 1983" and dated May 30, 1983. Sounds like it is the same thing as the "Broadcasting Live" only in different packaging. It says it was made in 2005 by Internal Gerbil Entertainment, 56 C St. Andrew Parkway Footscray, Victoria 3011.

Setlist is:

Gold Dust Woman
Outside the Rain
Dreams
Gold and Braid
I Need to Know
Gypsy
Angel
Leather and Lace
Stand Back
Band Intros
How Still My Love
Stop Draggin' My Heart Around
Edge of Seventeen
Rhiannon

I also ordered one by Fleetwood Mac called "Evolution" which is supposed to be a compilation of tv shows from the seventies and eighties. I already have lots of compilation videos, but maybe this one will be good quality. In the past, they have been copies of copies.

Starworld at 6665 Hollywood Blvd. I didn't know they sold boots either. I usually go there for pictures, but then he said he had this video and it was $19.99. People had just been talking about it on the board and I scooped it up. He said he would be getting another one called Fleetwood Mac "Evolution" and I ordered that too.

That shop has been there for 25 years. Even when I still lived in Michigan, when I would come to California to visit, I used to go there. Michele

excellent post and it echoes some of my posts of the past..the end of The Wild Heart era was the end of Stevie in her true prime..there have been some great songs and performances since of course..but never again would she be cooking on all four burners like she still was then ..I 'm just glad I was there to witness it.

I am very pleased with this DVD, in spite of those those ridiculous borders framed around the picture and looking like a classic bootleg recording. But if you have the worst VHS copy imaginable of this performance, like I do, it's nice finally to get clean picture and audio of Stevie rocking away in her solo prime.

I ordered mine through Amazon Canada. It shipped fast, arriving in just 5 days.

Anyone know of software (cheaper than the likes of Adobe Premere) that would allow us to re-encode the video & place a box inside the screen and drag it from side to side if necessary?

I've been looking for something like this for a while so I can convert widescreen movie DVD's I have to full screen (which would definately need the 4:3 box inside and dragged back and forth, this might not need the dragging due to it not being true widescreen but as long as I'd be software hunting, it'd kill 2 birds...so any advice on this would be great, as like said above it looks like the actual footage is a good quality print but it'd be nice to blow it up etc. thanks in advance. :)

I purchased this DVD too. It's video and sound quality aren't any better than the boot I already have. I was really hoping that the sound quality would be improved, surely somebody has this concert in better audio. This is my favorite era from Stevie's great career, too bad we don't have an authorized concert from this period (Wild Heart). And the pro-shot Largo show just sits in the vaults.....

I didn't see anything in the Canadian Amazon.com but seeing by your post, I have this same dvd. Bought it on ebay last month for $14.99. Brought me to tears seeing how she thanked the fans towards the end.

That's about the only 80's concert of her's I like (and the HBO special). Her music was pretty bad after The Wild Heart because of all the synthesizer's she used and ect.

So, now the same little shop sent me a Fleetwood Mac "Evolution" boot. Says it was made by "Bad Wizard Video" in 2005. It's a compilation of things floating around on Youtube. Good enough quality, but I ordered it before I saw the track list or I probably would have passed.

It has:

Playboy after Dark 1969: Rattlesnake Shake

Monster Music Mash 1969: Oh Well, Bad Woman Blues

Swedish TV 1969: Rattlesnake Shake

Top of the Pops (solo) 1971: Heavy Heart

Don Kirshner's Rock Concert 1974: Green Manalashi, Spare Me a Little, Black Magic Woman

Midnight Special 1976: Rhiannon, Miles Away, Over My HeadRosebud Film
1977: Rhiannon, Say You Love Me, Go Your Own Way, I'm So Afraid

So how does the picture quality of this DVD compare with the upgraded picture quality of the same performance a few years ago? Or is one just taken from the other?

hi david...well i have to say since my other copy got scanned and scratched in the post office sorting machine that i love this dvd...yes it's smaller bc of the borders around it but the pic quality is phenominal...there is a little distortion on the dvd when u play it loud but i believe the boots have that too...its my belief that this was taken from the exact same tape so for those that don't have the u.s. fest it's a fantastic show and one of my all time favs...i totally agree that this was without a doubt stevie at the peak of her career...if anyone wants one i can pick it up for u here in hmv canada and mail it to u...i do paypal so just pm me and we'll get u one...price is 12.95 plus tax and shipping...take care...pat
