Picture, if you will, A Gypsy-era Stevie Nicks starring as a ’20s bohemian in a Bollywood film. If you can imagine all that, you’ve got a pretty clear idea of what Anna Sui’s fall line looks like. In her own inimitable way, Sui punched up swirling Art Nouveau patterns with iridescent shades and electrified drop-waist dresses with vivid prints. Rich surfaces from Mangolian lamb to washed velvet and Tibetan goat fur provided a luxurious layer, while Sui amped up the collection’s ’70s rock’n’roll undertones with fringe bags, bead-accented boots and glittering stage-ready capes.

Didn't that designer already do Stevie Nicks (as it were) about ten years ago?

She did. And around the same time, whashisname Mirzari/Mirazi was also doing some Stevie-inspired stuff too. And also, remember Madonna's 'Frozen' video and people were also saying it was homage? 1997-1998 was a hot period for Stevie! That was her 'rebirth' (she must have payed her PR folks tons of $$ to get that much press)

then mama needs to open up her fringed purse and pull out that phat wallet of hers cause her PR these days is non-existent basically.

It seems that every year in recent memory included some sorta "Stevie-inspired" collection. Indeed, Stevie (and arguably Carly Simon) were the It girls of 1970's. I can't think of anyone since then that can be singled out as the icon of an entire fashion era. Okay... maybe Jennifer Lopez... oh, and the "Rachel" hairstyle sported by Jennifer Aniston.

It's just a shame that it has all come down to the same tired old black frocks on and off the stage nowadays. :distress:

And do you know, that my mother and oldest sister totally rocked the 'Joyce' look in the '79/'83 period?

If I only had a scanner...

I think this designer often does Stevie inspired looks, and that there is a small group of fashionistas who dress this way year to year. I have some (faux) black jet jewelry that Anna S. did that looks great with shawls and such. Hope to see lot of Stevie looks around Manhattan this winter. Thank you Ms. Sui;)
