Wow. I think that one's gonna have to grow on me. I think she just likes to say "crash into me" and "sweet you rock", "sweet you roll". It's kinda slow. I actually kinda fell asleep until that whistle 3/4 of the way in  Thanks by the way!

Thank you, Daniel and Brett.
On 1st listen I thought she was singing too deep (for a change), but I got used to it by the middle. I thought Lori, Sharon, & Jana sounded great in the last part.
Good to hear something new, anyway. I would love to see a camera pointed at the crowd to capture the shocked facial expressions when she started a Dave Matthews song, making even this one change to her setlist.

Wow. I'm not sure what I think? I mean, it's cool that she took the risk and did it. The tempo could've been a bit faster and I wasn't crazy about the arrangement. I like how she did the ending, repeating the "sweet you rock and sweet you roll" part. What did she say at the very end? I can't tell.
I would've preferred "Storms."

Thank you Brett and Daniel....
I am just so bummed out that she chooses to do covers when she has so many songs she could do. I didn't like that at all.
Did anyone get Sara?

i agree - but so much of it is just the piss poor sound.
(and you guys who posted these- i am not jumpin on you - just in general the vids of live concerts on youtube are very sonically challenged and you can't hear all the high ends etc . . .)
I wanna hear a clear version but i guess i'll need to wait for the soundstage - assuming that "crash" makes the cut.
Thanks for posting this!

:) - yep to all that Livia ^^^
I would have prefered one of her songs that's been in storage, but something new IS something new.
oh and thanks for posting Brett and Daniel

She just seems obsessed with the phrase "rock and roll."
One More Big Time Rock and Roll Star
In interviews, "I'm a rock and roll star," or "I'm just a rock and roll singer."
Covering Led Zep's "Rock and Roll"
And now "Crash Into Me"
What's next? Covers of "I Love Rock and Roll," "Rock and Roll Music, "Old Time Rock and Roll," etc., etc.?

I just watched the video. And as Bill said, the video just does not capture how great that song was live. She did start out a tad slow, but after she got the feel for it, she rocked it. And her movements/dancing were different than her normal moves. They were more sexy and you just can't really get that from the video.
Hopefully it makes the Soundstage video so you can see it then.

Yeah, you're right. I didn't mean that she didn't have any of the same moves, but that she added some new ones that were sexy. Sorry, should have clarified.

That's what I was thinking when I was watching it. I need a really clear version of it that I can crank up and kinda get lost in. That's the best way to listen to How Still My Love also.
This video sounds okay. I like how she really got into it near the end. There were some sexay moves.
What did she say right after the 'thank you'? I can't turn up the volume too loud, my sisters are watching a movie.

yes - i think she looks darling, and i am all for a NEW song in the list of any sort but, to me, it is really only about her singing when it comes right down to it. How did sister sound? :blob2::blob1: (BTW - I trust your opinion enough to know that Stevie was on this night, which makes me wanna hear a clean copy even more.:xoxo:)
cell phone microphones just don't reveal enough in the playback.

she could put that lasso move in the box marked "NEVER TO BE SEEN AGAIN" along with Liddy's Afro and sadly, Christine, and i would be rid of the one thing Stevie does that literally makes me CRINGE. {Is there a Cringy Smiley?}
Should I be ducking with this opinion? Do people like that move?

She says: "That is the first time we've done that song." V, she was hot, I tell you. At one point she has her hands on her stomach, kind of how it would look it someone was standing behind you with their hands around your waist, and she is swaying. She had some sexy hip movements. And the hiking up of her skirt. SEXXXXXYY.

I too would prefer that she do her own songs, no doubt. But she went out on a limb (for Stevie) and did something different. I think the lyrics are rather risque for her and she really got into it. I really liked it. Like I said earlier, I thought she started a little slow but she got into it quickly. She sounded beautiful. I hope it makes the Soundstage video as well because I did have a little trouble hearing from where I was, so I want the full-on effect of the 5.1 Dolby Digital. You guys, I was so excited I almost peed myself.

She did that cover because she loves that song. You can tell by the way she gets so into it that that song means something to her. She's def thinking about someone while she's singing that. I would have loved to have seen this live because I agree, the video doesn't seem to do it justice. Kudos to you lucky devils who were there and captured this for the rest of us...and keep on Rockin sexy mama!

haha, some of the comments left on YouTube by Dave Matthews fans are pretty harshYou know, though they could have used nicer words, I can't even blame them. I am not saying Stevie did a bad job, not at all, but to most this particular performance is an acquired taste. And I can imagine being a fan of this band (when I was, you know, 11)and knowing the song inside and out, that you wouldn't enjoy this live cover. After all, we're all just a little biased.
Just sayin'.

exactly. I mean, if someone did a cover of edge, we would rip them up and tear them down.
oh. wait.
well, that really doesn't count. whorehan is without talent. But seriously. I'm not a fan of covers, mostly because I'm a creature of habit. I like it the original way it was done and I don't want anyone messing with it. But i'm glad she took a risk and I hope the response she got (which from the crowd seemed pretty good) it will encourage her to shake things up a bit.

No argument here! I loved the way Stevie shot her down in the press about the so called Fleetwood Mac movie. Thank God we don't have to her about Lojack these daze.

Well......
I was at the show, AND I am a huge Dave Matthews Band fan. I nearly dropped to the ground when I heard my favorite girl sing a song from my 2nd all time favorite band. Second to Fleetwood Mac of course.
Anyway, I liked her interpretation. It definitely had a more sexy feel to the performance than DMB puts out. Sheis 100% singing to someone in particular. I have my ideas of who and why but I wont get into it.
I don't think it holds a candle to the original because of the missing instruments used on the real track (i.e. violin, saxaphone) but I dug the version. I am going to be at the Soundstage taping and cant wait for the song. The band plans on fine tuning it more before Thursday she says.

exactly right...it was sexy as hell. hsml was hot too....stevie was basically on fire all night. she's so got it...i don't know why she doesn't bring that side of her out more often. my mind was not the only one being blown - i heard a ton of "oh my freaking gods" from the people around me.
i thought it was a very interesting, and coincidental (for me at least) choice. i'm not a dmb fan, but 'crash' is the one song of theirs that i like. the 'everyday' video feels like a nighttime version of dmb's 'crash' video, imo.
i think it's interesting to know what stevie is like in real life, like what she listens to <del>driving in the car</del> being driven.

To be honest, I had more respect for her when I didn't know what she really listens to- other than Tom Petty and Bob Dylan, of course. I think she has mentioned liking Craig David, Janet Jackson, Maroon 5, Michelle Branch, Justin Timberlake, etc. In a nutshell, Mama is a bubblegum chewing, hair-twirling teenybopper!

I'm a Dave Matthews fan too (even if his last album I really loved was Before these crowded streets) I liked how Stevie did the song. The different tempo is a good choice, it made the song more in her chords.

OMFG. i literally spent months and months listening to this song on repeat back in high school. now if she'll just cover bush's Glycerine and smashing pumpkins' Disarm, the ninth grader deep within me will be fulfilled.
it's kinda dirty hearing mama nicks sing "i come into you" and "hike up your skirt"... it's also kinda hott. i'd love to see the look on her face, so i do hope this makes it into the show.
honestly, i though you were all lying about this. :]

I didnt like it (I was there). In fairness, Iam not at all a fan of Dave mathews Band so maybe thats why. It seemed to me that Stevie was struggling through it. Its abysmally slow and almost has to be sung as a folk song or staccato. Almost every word or verse has to be pronounced in that song. It doesnt flow well. Her voice does not lend itself to this song. Silver Spring would have been a better choice and she had two guitarists and the band to back her on it as well.
