she really seems to lost confidence in her writing or something>?
does tom need to take her out to dinner and remind her she is a premier songwriter again? does she just like the free meals or what>?
i guess it's still to early to tell cos the show isn't over but i am not holding out much hope .

Indeed. I just could never see that. That HAS to be a mistake. Otherwise, that is entirely strange. Stevie singing:

When Im holding you so girl
Close to me
Oh and you come crash
Into me, baby
And I come into you
Hike up your skirt a little more
And show the world to me
Hike up your skirt a little more
And show your world to me
In a boys dream.. in a boys dream

Seems VERY strange. Why on earth would she play this instead of one of her many own songs that desperately need to be played? I really don't get this woman.

Good song, but I agree, a strange song for her to cover. Maybe she reworded it so that she's the one hiking up her skirt?

Indeed. Seriously. Remember when you thought that might actually be true?

Or maybe I'm aging myself. There have been many times throughout my life when I did or did not have good TV. It's totally traumatic at first, you think you might die -
But then without it for a bit, you realize you had other interests, and other things that you could do before. It's really weird. It takes a month or so.
But then, you still love it when you see it again. Like at your friend who has cable's house, and you can't stop watching. Like you shush them because you are watching a VERY IMPORTANT E! True Hollywood Story. About Demi Moore and Shit. That's not important!

It's a sickness. But not as bad of a sickness as like, Crack, or Meth, or something.
So, embrace it. Or at least embrace it instead of Crack. Cause it is my most favorite sickness, I can't stay away. I love it. I LOVE IT! It makes me feel like an old dance hall girl...

i saw that one. it wasn't that good.

:D

no, but seriously. it's actually not celeb gossip that i love, cuz if it were, i'd be reading perez hilton every day or TMZ and shit. it's all about presentation and attitude and point of view. and the soup is 30 minutes of clever snark, making fun of retarded celebs and dumb shit on tv.

sfjiaosjjasdjf.....just got home from the show. it was great! i must say, we were a pretty awesome crowd!

stevie looked great and seemed to be having a great time! she was quite chatty as well. she said a few times how they were coming off the tour and this would be the last show for a while, but not the last show ever. she said because they're winding down, she'd like to take the opportunity tonight to talk about why some of the songs were written, "because thats what it's all about."

she gave basically the same storyteller schpeel, with maybe a few words more. nothing new really, but she was really cute and energetic about each one

to all the 'crash' haters - it was fantastic. she sang all of the words except for:
dropping the "girl" in "hold you close girl", and she messed up the "bare boned and crazy for you" line and threw in something about "tired and crazy.:

it was so cool to hear stevie say "hike up your skirts a little more, and show your world to me." so awesome. she was smiling the whole time and tugging at her skirt. that is an image that i am very okay with ;)

she seemed to be very fond of the line "sweet you rock and sweet you roll." it seemed to be very fitting for her...she repeated it several times and closed the song w/ it.

i have it recorded on my cell phone...but it sucks, basically just good enough to hold up to my hear and kind of understand it.

wheew. good show. very good show.

SARA. wooooooooooooooooooooooo.

it was excellent and the crowd went nuts for it. i thought she was going to do silver springs b/c in her lead-in talk, she said how she got a page long guilt letter from joe, the program director of soundstage begging her to do this song. she replied that she doesn't normally do this song w/o fleetwood mac, it just isn't a part of her solo set, but that she was going to do it for joe.

so, i guess this means it will make it to soundstage

sadly, no red cape for sara. i'm not an expert on the costumes...for the first few songs it was pretty nondescript stevie-black top, shiny pants/leggings over the black boots. then she switched to a different black top and tan boots...which were sweet. i don't remember seeing those before?? there was the gold cape for gdw of course. the edge number was the same black and white outfit....with rockin cleavage i must say ;)

i don't remember the pants on the rock n' roll outfit, but she was wearing the 'honorary heartbreaker' badge on her top hat w/ the giant feather. finally, b&b was the same.

sorry for the lack of detail...i tend to forget the costumes....i was just happy to see boots the whole time

i didn't notice any bootlegging, but i was pretty focused up on stage. i'm sure someone was rolling. i haven't met lori, but cam was there!

**** Stevie was very chatty tonight, more than any concert I have ever seen her at and I have been to many over 30 years. She talked about the genesis of nearly every song. I think (and she alluded to this) that this was pretty much the set-list for Soundstage next week which is being produced by Joe Thomas . It was like a rehearsal for Soundstage. **

She looked fab. Definitely the thinnest I've seen in years. I was in the first section right behind the pit, maybe 15 feet away and she looked radiant.**

Note to myself: This was one of the best Stevie concerts I have ever been to. I loved the big boy stance she did, showing the crowd how she was a waitress. Real cute and really funny.

yeah, it was definitely a shocker. it would be interesting to know what brought her to it. i wonder if she gets bored with her songs? *insert comment on our boredom* i'm no musical artist, but i think it would a lot more fun to learn other artist's songs that i really liked every now and then versus relearning one of my old songs?

She could add in a huge hit instead of Rock and Roll, Enchanted or Sorcerer (keep Fall From Grace - it doesn't put us to sleep) like Talk to Me, I Can't Wait, or Rooms on Fire. Hell, they even had Whole Lotta Trouble rehearsed for this summer!

Its one of those slow pulling teeth songs. Stevie liked it, BUT the crowd pretty much sat through it.

Sounds like the reaction to Circle Dance. Still, even though I don't like the song, I'm kind of pleasantly surprised that Stevie chose the content. It's rather explicit and daring. Leave it to her to wait until the age of 59 to start reshaping my preconceptions of what she will and won't do in public.

First How Still My Love gets sultrier every time I see it, then she takes that picture with her legs all akimbo, now this. Things are getting hot. Michele

I agree with you. Crash is not one of my favorites but I do like the song. The lyrics are explicit for Stevie, I'm shocked and can't believe she she did it:

"You've got your ball you've got your chain
tied to me tight tie me up again....Oh I watch you there through the window And I stare at you You wear nothing but you wear it so well tied up and twisted the way I'd like to be For you, for me, come crash into me"....

and Mamma Nicks wouldn't lend her voice to "Come" becuase she was uncomfortable with the content. You go girl, I love it.

Agreed. I’ve always liked that song, and will like it more now. I am in no way complaining about having her perform "rock and roll" on a DVD. Or even crash for that matter, as it is different, and completely unexpected, just like doing Sara. They are both unexpected, just like everyone is always clamoring for, but never satisfied, and never will be i suppose. So those two surprises are enough for me, as long as there’s a sultry & hot version of how still my love as well. id B nice to have that song on a DVD too. (Official and recorded and released officially I mean)

. So those two surprizes are enough for me, as long as theres a sultry & hot version of how still my love as well. id B nice to have that song on a dvd too. (official and recorded and released officially i mean)

I totally agree with you but i bet it will be one of the first cut if they need to cut for time. roughly ten songs will make it right?

Sounds like the reaction to Circle Dance. Still, even though I don't like the song, I'm kind of pleasantly surprised that Stevie chose the content. It's rather explicit and daring. Leave it to her to wait until the age of 59 to start reshaping my preconceptions of what she will and won't do in public.

First How Still My Love gets sultrier every time I see it, then she takes that picture with her legs all akimbo, now this. Things are getting hot. Michele

She's been chatty at concerts (Rosemont), chatty with the British press (3 long interviews the past months). Can you say mid-life crisis??? Menopause?? Who knows? She did look great Friday night. For a "broad" of 59, she has held up well!!

Yes, things are getting very hot in Stevieland.

Wow for the first time maybe not just recently but EVER, Stevie has added songs WITHOUT dropping any, kind of a win-win for us. I might be the only one who is actually most excited that she put FFG back in the set for soundstage.

I had a great time and loved Crash. I would have had an even better time if the chick next to me would have left me alone. She kept trying to take my camera to take a pic of me watching Stevie and saying ALL NIGHT....you look like you're miserable, all the boring people are sitting down why don't you, you must give really boring speeches, you don't even know these songs do you....she just wouldn't stop. I finally complained to security about her as she was touching me and getting in my face and then she was pissed and kept saying I was trying to get her kicked out. I have several pictures and little video snippets that I'll be posting later if anyone's interested.

I got caught videoing Sara. They escorted me out after the song and confiscated my camera. Here's the deal on that...................As the security guards (2) walked in back of me, I took out the SD card and slipped it in my pocket. When the three of them (they started making a federal case of it and another arrived) tried to get the video off the camera, it wouldnt come up since I had the SD card in my pocket. The main guy started yelling at me to give it up and I refused. He finally let me go back to my seat. I havent had a chance to see how much I got. Lots of people had cell cameras so someone must have it.

Actually you are right..... The correct title of the song is Crash Into Me, but many people including DMB fans simply call is as crash, and its the song that got me hooked on the Dave Matthews Band. So Stevie singing it is going to be interesting. Maybe Dave Matthews was in attendance last night?

I think it will sound quite nice, as it should be good for her range. as he sings in the sort of higher male register, and she sings in the lower female register.

What I find amazingly ballsy about Stevie doing "Crash into Me" is that it's just sooo not Stevie on sooo many levels:

-Its relatively racy lyrics (from a male perspective).
-Crazy time signatures.
-Unusual chords.
-It's actually not an easy song to sing.

I'm also not a fan of Stevie doing lots of covers of other artists' material, but it's probably healthy for her to experiment with some other styles of music every once in a while. After playing the same songs for the past few years, she probably needs a little shock to the system.

Okay, I just watched this video and am having a hard time seeing Stevie sing this song, but will just have to wait until the boots come out or see it on Sound Stage. I can sort of see Stevie steaming up the lyrics and having fun with it though I guess, just a total surprise here... but glad she is trying out new stuff.

Now is it me or does this video look like it was directed by the same person that directed Every Day or even REM's "Losing My Religion"?

I was at the show last night and it was a great show. Stevie was really talkative. And Crash was pretty hot. I was sitting in the pit and my seat was about a foot from the stage with nobody in front of me. So, I stood at the stage all night, with Lori, Jana and Sharon right in front of me.

It was nice because security had everyone under control. There was a 3 1/2 foot wall separating the pit from the rest of the seats with only 2 or 3 entrances. And you had to have your ticket to get in. They didn't let anybody in during Edge and it was really nice to stand there and watch the show without a bunch of idiots pushing me up against the stage and pushing their way in front of me. It was a nice, relaxed show. I honestly wish she would just quit doing the Edge walk for that reason. Because at most of the venues, if you have a close seat, you inevitably have a bunch of a-holes thinking they are entitled to get to the stage. If she did away with the walk, the show would be more enjoyable, IMO.

Anyway, I liked Crash. And Sara was fabulous. I was prepared to hear the same old set so I was very surprised to hear a few different selections. And I really like FFG being in the set. It is very kick ass live. She puts a lot of feeling into it. Like she gets pissed while she's singing it. I love it.

The only drawback to being so close is that there weren't any speakers right there. The speakers were kind of behind me, so while I could hear her singing, I had a hard time hearing her talking in between songs.

I took a lot of pictures. I'll post some of them in the pic thread.

I have to agree with Glenn that this was one of the best Stevie shows ever. Love the chattiness and the humor she puts into the stories. It's great to hear new things and to even to have her experiment with other people's songs, but Crash Into Me seemed rather awkward. It was fun to see her do the "hike up your skirt" line, though.

I actually was going to start another thread about the Edge Walk, and I hope you don't mind if I quote you to get the discussion started. I had a terrible experience at the stage on Friday, and it's making me question the whole idea of the walk.

Otherwise, I agree with most of the rest of your post. I too was in the pit, in front of the speakers. I also had an especially hard time catching some parts of Stevie's pre-song speeches--which I'm sad about, because she was so chatty and funny. I enjoyed her comment about going into rest mode now that the tour is over, because she said "I have to molt and stuff." (I hope I heard that right).

I am so thrilled that she did Crash. She said people told her "You can't do that song" but she loves it, so she is going to do it anyway. That is exactly the sort of thing I've been wanting to hear from her for ages. That she is trying to challenge herself to do something new and different, because SHE wants to. And that she is able to say NO to her people. It was a gutsy move to add the song, and though it started out a little slow, she finished it fabulously. It WAS hot. I don't have any problem at all with her doing others' material, because it's fresh and new to her AND us. I want to hear what is inspiring her and see her enjoying herself.

I also agree that FFG was a great re-addition. The performance was better than any I saw during the TISL tour. She really did seem amazingly pissed off--like if anyone dared cross her, they'd get a real ass-kicking.
She prefaced the song with the comment that it was the most angry song she'd ever written, though if we listened closely, we'd understand that she did it because she wanted to save someone's life.

Also, she had lots of new costumes. None any more flattering than what she's been wearing lately, but a little different, nonetheless.

All in all, Stevie put on a great show.

I was all the way on the right hand side, if you are facing the stage. Lori was right in front of me. I guess I couldn't really see what was going on toward the other end of the stage. I did notice someone who was a little obnoxious in front of Carlos, though. What happened, if you don't mind sharing. I'm sorry that whatever happened did. In my experience it was one of the best shows because security was tight. The worst two I went to this year were at Red Rocks and Chicago - just speaking from an obnoxious person/out of control/no security type standpoint.

I just think she should not do the walk anymore. It would cut down on a lot of the bs, IMO.

camchristo, I think I was standing right next to you! I was also wondering where Sorceress was and what happened with her, if she cares to share.

I was in front of Waddy. There were two blond girls who had front row tickets who'd been standing the whole show, apparently having a good time. And I'd been having a great time too, so I didn't think there was any problem when I ended up beside them, asking them to move a couple of inches to their left--not for me because I was already there, but for the people who were behind me and I knew were going to be trying to push in between us. That was where I messed up--I shouldn't have assumed that this would be okay with them. I was thinking that when Stevie does the walk, she starts way down on the end, and it was no big deal to be a little bit further down, because they would most certainly get to shake her hand. I would have gladly gone down there, but the pit was so small that there wasn't any room to get to the ends passed the front row people who were already there.

So, they said to me "NO we will NOT move. These are OUR seats. Why don't YOU go back to YOUR seat!" I replied that this is the part of the show where people have permission to come down to the stage and then just stayed put. They discussed between each other how much of a bitch I was and how they were going to get security. They motioned to a third person who was with them and still sitting down said to the group of us who'd come down, " You're blocking HER view." I motioned for the lady to come up and tried to make some room for her, but she shook her head and put up her hands, as if to say, it's okay. I said to the one beside me, "This is the part in the show where Stevie fans share the love with each other."

I guess at that point, one of the girls went to get security, who told her that it was fine for me and the rest of us to be there. So, when she came back, there was more conversation between the three. Then the 3rd lady (older, with a brown ponytail) suddenly got up and shoved me over, yelling sarcastically "Excuse me if I push my way in here." I said, "Please don't push me, I'll move over to let you in, but please don't push." I promise I was still using my friendly tone of voice. :) She stood there for a minute, then put her arm around me and said, "Enjoy the show." I couldn't figure out what she was doing, she was flipping back and forth from perfectly nice to really nasty. She rubbed my back again and then went back and sat down.

That was pretty much the end of it, as far as I knew. I was feeling really icky about the whole thing, so after Stevie passed, I went back to my seat. I'd noticed at some point during the whole thing--while I was just trying to enjoy Stevie's performance--I felt something hit my head. I thought at that point, "Oh God, they've spit in my hair." But I was just struggling at that point not to let the whole thing get to me and so I ignored it and ended up forgetting about it.

Until the next morning. In the shower, I started to wash my hair and discovered a big wad of gum stuck in the back of my head. Looking back, I think it must have happened when the 3rd lady was standing beside me, and maybe when she was touching my back it was camoflage for sticking the gum in my hair. Or it was one of the blond girls when she was coming back from security.

I don't know. But obviously, I didn't enjoy the experience at all. My entire point during the walk was to tell Stevie that Crash was amazing. I wanted her to know that even if the audience didn't react like they always do to her big hits, people appreciated the risk she took. Of course, all I had time to say was "I loved Crash." But I hope she heard me and wasn't thrown off by all the crazy negative bullsh*t going on with these girls.

I am sorry Sorceress that this happened to you. People can be so rude and mean. I honestly believe it is mostly the result of people drinking way too much alcohol. I myself had an unsettling experience during the Edge walk this year in March in Vegas, but am so glad I had the opportunity to see Stevie up close.

One thing that floors me is that sometimes security has no idea what the Edge rush/walk is. You would think that her touring manager would make it crystal clear it is okay to let people up at the stage.

I think Stevie really enjoys connecting with her fans and this is one way to do it.
People going nuts at the edge of a stage as the performer comes close is nothing new and I am sure performers just learn to deal with it. (think Elvis or Beatles and all the swooning and yelling fans)

You know, from where I was....1st row, behind the BARRACADE keeping me away from the precious pit, the whole "Edge Walk" experience looked fine. Half of the pit audience did not go to the stage. I know Sorceress and have previously heard about her experience with those girls. I saw them and they looked like they would be typical Stevie fans. If they are, then they really made themselves look bad. Putting gum in someones hair crosses the line.

I called it the precious pit because my seat was right on the aisle next to the entrance to the pit and the security guy I was talking with said he was aware of the stage thing and said that he may be able to let me in. But right when this older lady security guard came up that was out of the question. Her reason was that the pit can only hold so much weight. It was very unfortunate. I know that because there were so few people at the stage, Stevie spent a few extra seconds holding hands with people. So I am envious of those who lucked out.

I am amazed and bothered. The song Crash just disgusts me.

One thing that floors me is that sometimes security has no idea what the Edge rush/walk is. You would think that her touring manager would make it crystal clear it is okay to let people up at the stage.

What's amazing to me is that people spend tons of $$ on gifts for her (fFlowers, stuffed animals, etc.) and she has readily stated many times that she does NOT keep the stuff and donates it to charity. Only rarely has she kept a gift and acknowledged it. They were taking flowers like candy there and all she did was hand them to security and he took them to the back.

[QUOTE=Wldhrt315;727724]You know, from where I was....1st row, behind the BARRACADE keeping me away from the precious pit, the whole "Edge Walk" experience looked fine. Half of the pit audience did not go to the stage. I know Sorceress and have previously heard about her experience with those girls. I saw them and they looked like they would be typical Stevie fans. If they are, then they really made themselves look bad. Putting gum in someones hair crosses the line.

I was in the same row, first row behind the pit and saw the same thing. Those in it were lucky because the PIT became available Friday morning all through the day and was still available up to one hour before the concert ( I called Ticketmaster) through Will-Call. i didn't want to shell out another $250.00 plus costs to move 5 feet closer. Oh, by the way, the pit wall is about 30 inches high, so you didn't need to be an Olympic Sprinter to get over it, but no one tried. There was lots of security around the "pit."

I've seen Dennis DeYoung at the Theatre and he does almost his whole show from the Pit, don't know why but he does. Feels closer to the audience perhaps???

Ugh, she should aleft this one out. She is wayyyy of tune, I don't hate much that she does on stage but I have to say that the last FM version and now this one are a bit of an embarassment.

She admited years ago that the reason she stopped doing it live is because she could no longer do the song justice and that it was just too hard to do live.

It only sounded good live when she did it on the Tusk tour.

That last line was pure perfection. At about 1:30 on the second clip. That was anything but out of tune.

Agreed, that line is the best part but the rest is lacking for me anyway.

You're very right! I was one of the lucky ones down there. I just found the Edge Walk video on youtube and I could see myself. I counted that I got a lucky handshake of 9 seconds! So yes, it was very special since Stevie took more time than she usually does.
