My friend Jen and I practicing "without you" in 2003 -
and i can live with the fact that i get squeaky and run out of breath (notice the pack of smokes in my pocket- and yes i quit) but wtf was i thinking with the haircut?:D:wavey: -

this is a spliced version - half of it is the practice and half of it is the performance

thanks Jaz and Vanessa.:xoxo:
and i know we discussed this somewhere else in the past - but did we establish that it was indeed a stevie song and not a Lindsey?
I have always been pretty firmly in the 'stevie wrote it' camp but not for no other reason than that it seems more her style.

This just so rocks. It makes me sad in a way to think that Buckingham & Nicks won't ever sound like this again. You two should rerecord the whole Buckingham Nicks album. I'd rather have that than the original.

And then just Photoshop your faces on the existing cover to save costs.

I have always been pretty firmly in the 'stevie wrote it' camp but not for no other reason than that it seems more her style. The content of the song makes me lean more towards Stevie, but then again the way the song was arranged lyrically, and some words here and there make me see where Lindsey might have had a hand in it. Who knows? It might have been one of their pet projects developed from scratch together.
Kind of like The Chain, skeleton ingredients from various people mashed together to make one great song.

That was beautiful. Thank you for sharing that. If Stevie and Lindsey won't release it, with voices like yours, you should record it and release it on cd. Sure, they'll get the writing royalties, but at least you'd be getting that music and your voices out into the world.

Yeah, I remember this from when you posted before, it was my most favorite ever. You guys sound just spectacular. I couldn't believe it. :woohoo: It's my "practice that harmony" guide...
Wait, I actually don't think it's the same one as before...did you guys record this one a lot? I would, if I were you.

yes - i think this is a likely scenario. It comes from a time when they could still suggest things to each other without it being threatening maybe

I actually considered recording it but it hasn't even been released and i wonder if she (or he :]) even published it. It might be difficult to get the ok to do it because the only copy of it exists from a collection of demos. Does that even make sense? lol and was this from the "stolen demos" that i have heard about?
i don't know if bmi, ascap or sesac would have it in their royalty catalogue.

as to how many times we recorded it, only twice - once during a vocal practice and then there is partial actual performance.
I did trim a little bit of dialogue of the front and back end since the last time i posted it so maybe that is the difference you are noticing.

Okay, you've considered it! That's great! What you might do is write a letter to Stevie Nicks in care of her management and see what happens. (If Lindsey wrote it, they will redirect you, maybe) You've got nothing to lose by asking! Maybe she does have it copywritten somewhere because of her problem with "Sara" so long ago. She might be happy to see someone wants to use it. Stevie seems interested in struggling new artists; she gave a song to Carole King's daughter years ago that she hadn't used. Consider yourself officially encouraged to write a letter! ;)

Thanks much you guys. and thanks tango for the encouragement to write stevie but i found out when i was younger that she doesn't have time to write back - lol. Serious though, i think i would have better luck trying ethan's route - go through karen. (isn't that stevie's assist. name)
I'm gonna take a minute to plug Jen's musical exploits here.
(she hasn't seen this video and i hope she doesn't mind me posting it - maybe i'll wait til it gets a few more views and comments before i tell her - lol)
Check out stolensweets.com - this is her current main band.
The do Jazz vocal tunes in the style of the boswell sisters.
am i breaking any rules by putting that link on here?
