Hi guys - just came up with a Little Theory about Stevie and her performances on-stage - wanted to bounce it off everyone and ask what they think - - -

Stevie is in love with/ has hella respect for / is greatly influenced by Robert Plant, from Led Zepplin.

I was just watching a peformance by Robert Plant on a channel called "The Tube," and it seemed VERY similar to Stevie's on-stage performances, I swear. And believe it or not at first glance he LOOKS like Stevie for a split-second - the hair is similar for example.

I dunno, what do you all think? Maybe it HASN'T been a long time since Stevie Rock and Rolled!

I've thought the same thing myself in recent years at least of the Stevie from the RAL era. I never knew she was a huge Zep fan until recently. I love that pic of the 2 of them - 2 of my favorites!!!

Oh definately, RAL-era Stevie is very reminiscent of Robert Plant in some of her vocalizations. The freak-out she does before the bridge/guitar solo on 'I Can't Wait' reminds me very much of the one Plant did at the end of 'Whole Lotta Love'.
When I was in college 9 million years ago, I had the most awesome Led Zeppelin poster- it was a collage of on stage photos of the band and in the center of course was Robert Plant. He was wearing skin tight faded patched jeans with a carnation worn in the belt, a vest with no shirt, lots of silver and turquiose (sp?) jewelry and holding a round wooden tambourine (like Mirage-era Stevie) and wailing into a mic on a stand. To me, that was very Stevie and I had fancied maybe one day I would use that as inspiration for a sketch where I'd draw Stevie and Robert's tambourines intertwined with some roses.

There pretty much is no way Plant and all of Led Z. didn't influence La Nicks and pretty much everyone else at that time. To paraphrase La Nicks - Led Z. had almost too much talent on stage.

I caught Robert Plant on his 'Now And Zen' tour in summer '88. It was an extraordinary show, for (what I thought) was an extraordinary album.

I think there is a reference to Going To California in Juliet in the line "So you found a queen without a king."
The line that it always reminded me of in Goin' To California is "To find a queen without a king,
They say she plays guitar and cries and sings... la la la la."
Plus Robert loved to write about mystical things, so yes they are similar in that way.
