May 29th??? We are in June now. I didn't see these when I was on iTunes the other day. Are they available for purchase now or is the date supposed to be June 29th; then again, that is not a Tuesday.

And where are the Hani and Dave Aude mixes? Hmmmmm

I don't think I've seen the tour poster - is the one of her standing? I'll be able to see it once I get home, can't pull up that stuff at work.

Thanks JF!

Thanks JF! Eh, not crazy about it. I wonder if this is going to be released in stores? If we're going to use old pics, I'd rather see something Stand Backish. I wouldn't even mind them using the original SB 45 cover, they could make a nice digi-pack CD maxi out of it. I also would not mind seeing this as the new cover ...

This is more Stand Backish than If Anyone Falls ...

I'm annoyed they just didn't put the whole shebang on the one EP. Instead they put the edits. So to be a completist, you need the Ep and individual mixes to complete the set.

Also, Live at Red Rocks is an album on her album page, but when I click it, it says not available in the US.

I wanted to buy UnkleJam on iTunes and its UK only...Not fair. They need an "import" section.

To any of you that downloaded the EP with the 4 tracks - I just did and while listening to the "Tracy Takes You Home Radio", I noticed a pop on my copy. I played it back just to make sure and sure enough, it's at the 51 second mark - it is slight but still, if I pay for something I don't want a freaking pop noise on it. I guess it's possible it just got a little messed up in the download, but if anyone else has the same pop noise (kinda like if you were playing a record) let me know and I will call iTunes.

I'm not getting the "official" aspect of this, nor the concept of a cover. isn't iTunes a downloading online store? I want this as a cd (w/ official cover as shown) available at Tower....sniff-sniff...nm....a record store near me. So is it an official release for iTunes only, or something that will be available on a release date via what remains of cd stores and/or Amazon?

Welcome to the future … it is my understanding that one day we won’t even have CDs to buy, everything will be online. At first this depressed me – but the more I think about it, I like the idea of downsizing. I can’t even recall the last time I pulled out any of my old albums or CDs for that matter and looked at the booklet. My favorite place to listen to music is in my car and it’s not like I’m in my car looking at the artwork, I’m listening to the music. Take Crystal Visions for example; if you buy it from iTunes, you also get a digital download of all of the artwork. It really is nice being able to look at this stuff on a big screen computer in high quality – you don’t get that with the CD booklet. I don’t have an ipod yet, but I have been importing a lot of my music into my iTunes library to prepare for when I do get an ipod. It doesn’t mean we still can’t make a CD or mix CDs, etc. I like to make mix CDs for my friends and for now, I can still do that. But the idea of having an ipod and having most of my music library at the touch of my fingers appeals to me.

With all that said, it’s not as though I’m 100 % happy with buying music via the net. I’m not happy with some of iTunes features. I brought this up before in other posts - take for example the quality input level of the Mirage CD compared to the Say You Will CD. The Mirage CD was pressed so poorly that the input level on that CD sucks big time. But if you were to make a Fleetwood Mac mix let us say and wanted to record a few songs from Mirage, well the difference in the input level of those songs compared to the newer stuff is extremely noticeable. But when you record a CD, there is an option on iTunes that supposedly adjusts the input level of the songs you are recording to make them all “equal”. Well I’ve tried this with iTunes and it sucks. It’s almost as if it takes the lowest pressed song and makes the rest sound like that. However I have found that when I use this feature with Rhapsody, they do a much better job at adjusting the level. Everything sounds loud and clear when I use Rhapsody. So I often go back and forth between using the two companies. And just like my post about the pop noise I got when I downloaded one of the Stand Back mixes, it’s not as if downloading music doesn’t have it flaws.

I like the convenience of online downloading. But I'm not comfortable with eliminating the CD format altogether. I like having a "hard copy" of the music that I intend to own forever. It feels more official to me. So I will continue to buy Stevie and Fleetwood Mac CDs, as long as they're available. I also prefer artwork that has been machine printed, as opposed to destop printed from digital formats. Digital printing has come a long way, but I still prefer the quality of printer/press houses.

I obtain music via iTunes downloads and by purchasing real CD's. I usually get CD's (and vinyl!) of the artists I really love and/or collect. It's a shame the downloads are not near the quality of factory pressed CD's. If I'm not mistaken, an audio file needs to be at least 320kpbs before its close to CD quality. There are some lossless formats that are nice .wav, .shn, flac. But I'm afraid the filesizes would be too large for iTunes and computers of general consumers.

I think itunes just came out with the option of downloading in a high bitrate... it's costs $1.25/song instead of 99¢. I haven't looked into it, but it's what I read...

In anycase, I appreciate the fastness of downloading something, but I'm like Daniel, I like something tangible to hold onto. Plus all this stuff you download, if you don't keep a hard copy or back up copy somewhere, other then your computer, if you ever have a complete melt down on your hard drive, you could lose everything...

Yes, you can download at a higher bitrate, but you have to make sure to allow iTunes to always show you the higher bit rate options (if available).

Downloading rules and I do understand the need for tactile satisfaction, but if you're an avid fan of music, collecting CD's becomes ridiculous to store. It drives me batty as I am not a pack rat and just don;t like the clutter of CD's, so they end up in a box, in storage. Digital is the future. You're right, it's smart to back up your digital files (any files actually). You never know. Also it doesn't take a hard drive failure only. Fire, flood, earthquake and thieves can destroy/take everything, including CD's. Best to archive electronically and store the most precious information offsite on a server or a safety deposit box. External drives are pretty cheap.
