Just returned from the Dallas show. Fortunately the rain held out until 12:30AM & now it's pouring.
As always, I will not be organizing my thoughts. Writing as (if) they come to me.
- Stevie looked really good.
- Chris I.'s drummer's mom was here so the drummer performed (with vocals) an extra song about Nyquil. You read right. They said it was a one-time thing. I am not making this up.
- I was front-row center. Orginally I had 3rd row center w/a friend, so that ticket went to another friend (who it turns out had seen Stevie for BD and Mirage) once I got front row. Plus eight of my friends got lawn seats.
- I'd been warned about Smirnoff. Security sucked. Couldn't go up to the stage until Edge. But the one sec guard on the side let the side front rush up and over before those of us in the center were allowed up. So I was not right up at the stage & did not get to shake a little Stevie this time. And it was a mess. I have never felt so much shoving/squashing up there by the stage. Livia was near me & screaming my name & telling people to back off, that I'm not a twerpy guy (LOL). Thank goodness I work out or I'd be a pancake - as it was, I couldn't lift my arms to clap. I did get up to the stage after the Edgewalk & was about the only one not taking cell phone pics.
Of course, Dallas security said nothing to the fools in the 2nd row who kept climbing OVER me during songs to get out for food instead of going down the aisle. And the one woman next to me talked on her cell phone all through the end of Enchanted and all of Landslide, right in front of security. I totally missed the dedication.
- Chris sweated buckets.
- The long Rhiannon keyboard intro with Stevie offstage really killed momentum so early in the set. Maybe a slideshow of her career/highlights of her videos might help?
- Stevie didn't begin Edge until after 11.
- Stevie dropped Planets from the set but put FFG back in.
- This was the best Enchanted I've ever heard. Normally I don't care for it live because the piano is drowned out. Tonight the whole thing worked.
- Stevie's voice was very strong at the end of Rhiannon.
- Jana & I made eye contact/ smiled a few times, and she looked hot, but with all due respect, I was waiting for Lori to come over.
- Waddy seemed especially intense, clearly directing Lenny in parts & interacting with the audience during R&R.
- I know people are loving the extended endings for HSML and GDW, but I can do without them. Chop off a minute from each of these songs, cut down the lengthy band intros (and the interlude before Rhiannon!), & you've got time for another song.
- Livia is trying to talk me into Houston Saturday night. If I can get front row again, possibly. Right now only seat 52 is coming up, which is not worth it to me.
- Oh - for those of you claiming that Stevie is stuck in the same rut this tour - Shame on you! I'll have you know that she made a VERY BIG DEAL that she would be introducing Jana third, after Sharon, rather than second. Clearly her creative muse has returned & variety abounds. :distress:
