What is your favorite new live track from Crystal Visions and why? I love Edge of Seventeen w/ the MSO because she has excellent range and emotion and that is the absolute best version i have heard yet! The MSO also makes it so much more unique...it adds a different perspective to the song.

I like all of them really, but bored of them already. Ma needs to release some real new material...

Rock and Roll.
Am I the only one that doesn't hear the MSO at all on Edge? Something sounds a little different here and there, but if I didn't know this was recorded with a big orchestra they could have easily fooled me into thinking it was any live version from the past two years.

Ditto on Vanessa and Jaz's accounts - R&R kicks ass.

and I'm not knocked out by the Edge wail like I was hoping to be. it seems kinda lackluster. that's the orgasm of that song and since I don't exactly squeal, I just use a vibrator instead. same result, a lot less work.

less enjoyable too.
but i disagree - i think the wail is great and i really enjoy the "somewhere deep in the middle of the night" shit at the end.
and i can hear the orchestra - it just doesn't come in until the very end. which is kind of disappointing.

I kid, I kid, I really like Edge also, but I'm with Jazz on the wail, it was not her best. And...I can't believe I am about to say this, but the intro should have been a liiiiitle longer. I feel Stevie and the girls come in too soon, I needed the guitar part to go on a bit longer.

really? i hate the long intros. this is the first live version of edge i've heard in quite a while that i didn't think was too long.

But as long as they usually are, that's how short it is this time. Feels off somehow.

maybe the deep shame you feel for being a stevie fan is impeding your ability to accurately judge the new intro.

Truthfully, I'm not madly in love with any of the live tracks, but I do like Edge. And yes, I only notice the MSO atthe very end- but it's cool in that it seems to make the song more *urgent* in some way.

I like the Rhiannon live track...BEAUTIFUL!!! :) :)
It's Edge, but Rock & Roll is a close second. I love that EO17 is so long, too. And the orchestra sounds really cool.

I'll dare to be different! Landslide is my favorite. It's one of my all-time favorites anyway, and I Love this twist on it. I'd actually heard A (maybe not The) version of Edge and Landslide a while back, but having professional quality recordings of them was a bonus! Still, the orchestra isn't as noticable on Edge, so like many others, it just sounded like a live version to me.

Stand Back. This particular rendering of "Why don't you taaaaaaaaaaake me home" sells it for me. :woohoo:

I really like this rhiannon, I only whish that I could do a "Mash-up" version of the dances piano intro into the rest of CV rhiannon.

I went with Rock N Roll since it the most fun sounding of the bunch to my ears - and definitely the most rocking!
I also agree with y'all who think the MSO is buried a tad in the mix - Definitely the opposite of Dream Theater's "Score" live album where the accompanying full scale orchestra compliment the band's performance and are high in the mix.

For me it's Rock N Roll... Stand Back... Then Edge.
Anyone figure out where Stand Back was recorded? I tried to compare it to the Phoenix dvd, and it's close, but I'm not sure if it's from that show.

1. Edge of 17 w/ MSO for sure....My favorite live version of this song eva!....it sounds like the world is coming to an end....(somewhere DEEP in the middle of the night BABAAY...I THINK ABOUT YOU).
2. Landslide- just beautiful & fresh w/ the 3 part harmony and strings
3. Rhiannon- again this version rocks harder than any FM version and her controlled vocals are superb....My favorite Live version ever.
4. Rock and Roll- Great production and vocal, cant complain about it really, just dont love the song that much...would have preferred her put the MSO Gold Dust Woman instead!
Overall, I was impressed with the live cuts, they exceeded my expectations. and they make this collection top notch!! Stevie cut her teeth on the road and her high reputation of a live performer is now forever captured on this disc. I also think the running flow of the CD is perfect.....Stevie must have had her hand in that!

I really like them all. I thought that the version of Landslide was very unique and beautiful. But they are all amazing.
