Whenever she says something I can always somehow figure out what she means, maybe cause through the years we've become fluent at Stevie speak, but just sometimes I go....uuuuuh. Like in this interview that I found on my harddrive. She's talking about EO17.

The white-winged dove is the spirit leaving. The nightbird is the one that calls, the good nightbird, the good… like in Rhiannon, the good lord of death and darkness who takes away for pain’s sake, as opposed to just murder and killing. So somewhere in between that was the dove, you know, the peace dove and the blackbird. Whenever I hear those chords I think of everything we can do and everything we can’t do.

I think we had a thread about this looooooooooong ago, I should try to dig it up because it was funny as hell.

I like the old interview someone recently posted about...shit, was it Sable? About going to hell without stopping for a hamburger on the way? I was like, wtf? Love that woman.

I know, I tried looking for it but I couldn't find it. I don't think the Edge quote was in there though, I'd have remembered that.

The hamburger quote is my new fav also. I will so be using that in real life one of these days.

I know this isn't what you're talking about, but the link is still good thru tomorrow, so what the hell.

My absolute favorite is the one where she said she always wanted to be a witch for Halloween and that she didn't want to dress up like a hot dog or a box of kleenex. I was always like, what kind of parties do you go to???

Stevie definately has left a trail of "head-scratchers" over the years but other times she can be brilliantly quick-witted. I remember at the heighth of my Stevie-mania (1983) my older sister would comment on what a ding-dong I was in love with, followed by her impression of Stevie's "I'm-getting-my-picture-taken-so-,since-I'm-a-doe-eyed-chanteuse,-I-have-to-half-open-my-mouth-and-stare-blankly-beyond-the-photographer" look while saying "duhhhhhhhh". And Stevie certainly could be scattered in interviews of that time, but I remember on MTV, Mark Goodman (I think?) asking her if she really was a witch. She laughed and said something like "yeah, but I'm the one banging on your kitchen window". I thought "huh?" and then I realized she was talking about KitchenWitches, those goofy things people used to hang in their kitchen windows. Doesn't rival the quotability of "I never wanted to be a hot-dog or a box of Kleenex..." but clever nonetheless.
[P.S. I wonder if anyone ever pointed out to her that no one else wanted to be those things either and that's why you didn't ever see those costumes?!?: "Yeah Stevie, I never wanted to be a hot-dog or a box of Kleenex OR an ear-wig or a shower curtain ring! So I'm gonna be ...ummm....a Pirate!!!"]

Well, that's the thing that makes her quote even more perverse. That's so Stevie, though!
