View Full Version : Trailer for Crystal Visions

Hey all, there's a new trailer up on Nicksfix for Crystal Visions. It's a pretty good trailer. I'm going to stick a little info in a spoiler section just in case someone doesn't want to know this, but,
The video from the Bella Donna sessions appears to be the home video of After the Glitter Fades, not the sort of homemade version of Edge of 17!
I hope I did that right. If not, I'll edit it out right away.
The only thing is the trailer said she is a winner of multiple grammies. I thought she only won one grammy from Rumours for it being the album of the year. PLUS, there is a strange picture that I've never seen of her around the 28-30 second mark. It's a couple pictures after a shot of her in the Sometimes It's A Bitch outfit.

So after reading this post I found my way over the the nicksfix and watched that trailer about 3 or 4 times back to back. I'm so psyched for this album to come out!!! I can't wait for the DVD because I haven't seen most of her videos. *shame on me* But I was born in the mid-eighties, so I kinda missed all of her cool videos and now that MTV and VH1 are stupid and don't actually play music videos anymore, I haven't really had the opportunity to watch them. So now that I'm done ranting, I can't wait for March 27th!!!!!

OMG, OMG, I've only watched a little bit and I am dying. Thanks for the heads up.
She really is simply extroadinary. *tears well up at her massive awesomeness* :p
Edit: I'm watching more. I can't take it, it's too much beauty. So much. Okay, I'll try to stop, but I can't make any promises. I want everyone in the world to see that trailer.
Edit, deux: Will this be a commercial advertisement? On TV? What is this for? I'm going to flip out. lol. OMG, there is audio commentary? Dead, I'm dead. I've died. I'm in heaven.
Okay, I'll try to stop again, but I dunno.
I'm so thrilled they called her UNIQUE, HAUNTING, and BEAUTIFUL. Especially the UNIQUE part.
What a gorgeous trailer. I want everyone in the world to see all those Stevies. Yes, I'm overemotional about it.
I'M GONNA DIE! IT'S SO AWESOME!!!

I wonder if they will show this at movie theaters with the other trailers before the movie? What a great way to introduce or reintroduce Stevie to a diverse crowd.

Well, considering it's over 2 minutes long I can't see them showing it on TV but it needs to be seen somewhere. Maybe on the marquee at Caesars?

I can't get this dang thing to play right, to save my soul. I have the latest version of Flash Player, but when I click the Flash link, all I get is strange text in my browser. I have the latest Windows Media Player (the VERY latest, because I just updated it this evening), but it tells me it can't play the file.
I also have the latest Quicktime, and that's the only one that will actually play any of the video, but I lose sound after the first 20 seconds, and then about a minute into it, the video stalls and won't play the rest.
Figures the one time I really want to see something....

there may be a shorter version for marketing purposes (and probably not to be played on television for the sole purpose of selling the cd). i have a feeling clips of what we just saw will probably be used in an advertisement for the tour. chances are it will be less than 60 seconds though and will have to fit chris as well.

That was really good. I am impressed with how nicely that was put together. I LOVE how she used the top hat photo from the Oz article...I guess she owns the rights to that photo. ;) It is nice to see it in such great quality.
I also think the Landslide part is really chilling and the photos used during that segment are beautiful. The Scarlet SB footage is freaking amazing! The quality is so much better....(someone mentioned the photo of her in the "hood" ...that is from the unreleased SB Civil War video) Go Stevie!

It got me thinking about possible promo stuff that may come out with this release for the record stores (that I could maybe get my hands on). But then I remembered that Tower Records has closed, and they really were the only store that actually displayed cool promo stuff. I don't picture FYE or Best Buy doing that. Oh well.

Well Fleetwood Mac as a band have only won a Grammy once and that was for Album Of The Year for Rumours... Stevie herself hasn't won one... But for the 2002 awards, Rumours was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame. So that's probably where the multiple Grammy statement comes from... Unless they consider being nominated for Grammies awards...

Beautiful... just beautiful. I was already looking forward to this release, but now even moreso.
What else can I say about it, other than "HUMINNA-HUMINNA-HUMINNA"!?!?!
I didn't notice any shots from the "Edge of Seventeen" video that Brian Grant directed (the same fellow who helmed the Scarlett Version of "Stand Back"), so I'm guessing the "Edge" video included on the DVD is taken from the 'In Concert 81' video. Which might also explain why they didn't include "Leather And Lace."
So exciting. :D

When hell freezes over. :laugh:Before it was officially announced that 'Crystal Visions' was being released, Billboard magazine reported that Stevie was working on her "first ever live album, to be released sometime later in the year."
It's possible that there was some kind of miscommunication between Billboard and Stevie's people, but it's also possible that we may be getting a full live album sometime by the end of '07.

Before it was officially announced that 'Crystal Visions' was being released, Billboard magazine reported that Stevie was working on her "first ever live album, to be released sometime later in the year."
It's possible that there was some kind of miscommunication between Billboard and Stevie's people, but it's also possible that we may be getting a full live album sometime by the end of '07.I really doubt it now that most of the tracks you would expect on a Stevie Nicks live album are ending up on this greatest hits release. What live stuff will they have left, except for older material? There's almost enough live material on this cd that it can be considered a live album anyway.

Stevie's too picky with her live vocals to ever release a full live album....that doesn't including a lot of editing.

I think with a little audio-sweetening and some overdubs, Stevie would be comfortable with releasing a live album.
Hell, it's standard practice these days (and, really, for the past 30 years) for artists to "clean up" the performances before releasing a live album.
Not to mention the fact that Stevie's already done it for her concert videos, both solo and with Fleetwood Mac.

Does that live Rhiannon sound like the SYW FM Boston version possibly? Does to me.It's definitely a more recent recording, based on her voice, but I don't think it's from 'Live In Boston.'
For one thing, the guitar playing sounds more like Waddy than Lindsey. At least to my ears.

I agree. and there are ONLY 4 live songs. I repeet. 4 songs. harldy a live album.
There could still be sorcerer,IAF,Stand back,BATB,OTR/Dreams,enchanted, stop draggin my heart around, beautiful child, fall from grace, circle dance, I need to know, ECT. THAT would be enough to consist of a live ALBUM.

First, let me say that this is probably the best advertisement I have EVER seen for her. LOVED it!
A note about the grammys. Don't they give away like 100 Grammys every year but only show like 10-15 on TV??? Maybe she won a few that way. I thought the Red Hot Chilli Peppers only won one grammy this year, but it turns out they really won like 4.

But Stevie, as a solo artist, hasn't won on or off the air.

I'm confused - when people reference time markers, how are we to know what they're actually talking about? Sometimes YouTube counts forward, sometimes backward, and if I play the trailer on WM it only counts forward. I know I spent 15 minutes trying to figure out what Niki was asking about a few pages back, wondering if she was counting forward or backwards and trying to calculate and match up the time and question. (Math is hard! :o )

Right - it counts forward (and shows you the total time) if you're actually on YouTube - but if you embed it, it only counts backwards and shows the total at the beginning. See?

That reminds me of a Barbara Mandrell commercial where she is sitting there on a stool lip-synching to her old songs while the song titles scrolled up. She looked really embarassed, but I could tell she gave it her all. Could you imagine Stevie doing that? It would be the "mature" Stevie lip synching to the original recording of "Silver Springs" in that chirpy 70's voice. That would be too much...
I liked the trailer too... but I must admit I didn't care for that "whoosh" sound effect used to seque between songs. And I also didn't like the way they displayed the names of her "collaborators." It's funny that they include Chris Isaak, with whom she has never released any recordings, but they totally omit Kenny G, Bruce Hornsby, Prince, Natalie Maines, Macy Gray, Walter Egan, Ringo Starr, Robin Zander, Warren Zevon, etc. But interestingly they mention Kenny Loggins, but "Whenever I Call You Friend" isn't in the set. Considering it's one of her best vocals ever, I think it qualifies as being among the "Best of Stevie Nicks."

I thought the same thing at first, but then I remembered her doing "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" with Eye Sack on his Chistmas album. And I agree about "WICYF" being one of her best vocals ever, but it's technically a Kenny song, so I guess that's why it didn't make it. Same with "Insider" perhaps. Enchanted box set was a bit different, this is more of a "hits" collection.

Like what? She can't make any of those moves anymore. :shrug:She told Rolling Stone in 1994 that, even though she'd gained weight, she still had a ballet bar in her house and that she could still do all the moves she used to.
Of course, that was nearly 13 years ago, so who knows now.

All I am asking for is the I Can't Wait steps dance.....just one more time! Please Stevie? Shake that ass and tambo! Go ape shit on your bad self.
Oh hell....never going to happen. I am excited to hear what her commentary on that video is going to be like.

Stand Back
"This is the video for Stand Back that we used."
If Anyone Falls
"This is the video for If Anyone Falls in Love. I don't like making video, but I liked making this video"

How do you say "~" in English?

I'm not sure about English, but in Stevie, I think it translates roughly to "you know".

Those are hilarious. But I can't believe she even remembers making any videos before Rooms on Fire, and even that recollection might be a stretch.

LOL, that is too funny. I also like the "you know"
~ can also mean "well" or "baby"

I was really tired when I first saw that promo...I have no idea WHY I would have said the home video was of After the Glitter Fades.
I still don't know where the one shot of her comes from. There's a shot of her from Sometimes It's a Bitch, then a shot of Every Day (if 'DAY' is being used as a noun, there is a SPACE between 'EVERY' and 'DAY," ugh!), and then a shot of her sitting in a yellowish room sitting on something and surrounded by veils. It looks like it might be a shot from Rooms on Fire, and I might have missed it. It's at time marker 2:09 (counting backwards).
You know, this may sound nerdy, even more nerdy than my grammatical correction above, lol, but I am really happy to have been the one to bring the news about this to you all (y'all). I never really feel much of a connection with most members of The Ledge, so I was excited that everyone saw it and liked it.
By the way, '~' is 'tilda.'

The scene comes towards the end of the video, before the ghost of her lover returns to take her with him to the "other side."

I want her to do the side to side "jail hands". So bad. So very, very, bad.
Also, what does * translate to? I have a theory that ~* translates to "well well". As in "well, well, she loved that backpack..."

to be fair, stevie only knows three chords, so ... it's justifiable. :wavey:I knew someone was going to say this. I'm not surprised it was you. :p

Of course, that was nearly 13 years ago, so who knows now. Please, I don't want to think about that.
And yes, I believe she could still do it then, but age and bad hips are really a factor now. The high kick is getting less high every time.
In my excitement, I forgot to thank you. :oIn my distress, I wanted someone to blame me.
I don't know why I said that.

I do Bikram yoga with people in their 50's & 60's. One guy has a prosthetic leg. In a way, it's a lot like ballet. You'd be amazed what your body is still capable of at that age with regular practice. I'm amazed at some of the things I can still do.

I just hope for F@%'s sake that they advertise it over here in Australia. But knowing them it wont, same as the fmac and her concerts weren't. Such a piss poor marketing team.

-- though we're all still unsure if whether "Edge of Seventeen" is the original unreleased video directed by Brian Grant, or if it's the live version from 'In Concert 81.'
Considering the clips in the trailer, it's a good bet that the 'In Concert 81' video is for the Edge of 17 video.
