I like the SA Stand Backs. The band really had that coda part down, she did a massive kick, and her voice was strong. I prefer LIB to most of the old ones, actually. It's one of the very few songs that I like better now live than I did 20 years ago.

shit. I knew I was leaving something out. and I meant to add LIB and the Boston Mixfest. oh well.
I don't think I've seen many, if any, SA performances.

Hmm. I wonder if I have any on video. Shit, I saw about 8 shows on the tour
so it's kinda etched in my head.

My favorite is from the "Dreamer" cd. I like really long intros on this song. I don't know what show it's from or even what tour - but I love it... It's probably from 81, but I'm not sure... Second pick would be SNL.

Just let me know if there are any others you'd like to add, and how you want the options to be worded.

Second pick would be SNL.The one on the 'Dreamer' boot is actually my favorite, too. It was recorded on October 4th, 1983, at the Oakland Coliseum in Oakland, CA., and then added (along with "Beauty And The Beast" and "Leather And Lace") to the nine songs from the 'In Concert' video, for a Superstar Concert Series radio broadcast in '84.

SNL! And Solid Gold second (totally on drugs though). Both the best Stand Backs ever despite weird, Stand Back dancin' man Brad Jeffries

Thanks Johnny Stew!... I had a feeling it was from the wild heart tour, but thought maybe because the others were 81 it was the same.

H.O.B. '94 is my current fave. LIB and Leno are my runners up. This song moves a lot better when she's off the junk

I'm a weirdo, I know, but I absolutely love the RAL Tour Wantaugh, New York Stand Back. If it was on VH1, it would be "Awesomely Bad" but for me, it's just awesome. You can feel the energy, the drugs, the pure sexiness of it all just exuding from the speakers. I can't even imagine what it would have been like to see the show live.
My runner up is rather tame in comparison, the SNL performance.

I was at that show and this would be my vote for favorite SB live performance ever. SNL is a close second.

I voted for Storytellers. That version just says I AM BACK. Completely drug free and dances her ass off. Gotta give credit to the Today Show version too, love her outfit and vocals.
Yea sure the old versions are good but only because she was on coke. I like the newer versions because it shows what she can really do!

Like Rhiannon, SOTM, Edge, How Still My Love and Gold Dust Woman, its nice that there are SO MANY great live versions to pick from. The nice thing about Stand Back as opposed to Rhiannon is that so many of those great versions are from this past decade.
My all time favorite Stand Back is Woodstock 98, I belive the last date on the Enchanted Tour. The thing that puts it over the top for me is that MAYbe MAYBe Maybe YEAAAAH part. Runners Up include:
Tacoma 97
Today Show Katrina Benifit Thing
LIB
7-26-05
SNL
Super Bowl (There's just somethign about this most recent Stand BAck that I love)
AND I'd like to add that probably one of my least favorite Stand BAcks is the Dreamer version. Still good but too muchl like the studio version, which I'm in the minority of not liking.

That's Stevie ad-libbing because she forgot the lyrics for a sec :-)
My favorite SB has to be the Whiskey A Go Go SB, it goes on longer than the Arsenio version and even though Stevie was a wee bit off key, the band just rocked!

I love it. I love most of the Stand Back's from this tour. If there are any better vocally then by all means let me know but it terms of musical arrangement and energy these were the best IMO. The only thing missing is the big "TTTTTTTTTAAAAAAKKKKKKKKEEEEEE me home!". Thanks gldstwmn for uploading Arseno Hall for me. I see what you mean about the clicking though. Still rules :D

By the time Stevie was on SNL in December of '83, the 'Wild Heart' tour had been over for about three weeks. :)

Damn. That's a hard question!!
I would say Live In Boston because she really rocked out on it, but the arrangement on the DVD (In my humble opinion!) was terrible -- all the great keyboard work just got lost, it sounded relaly fuzzy to me after a while.
Failing that, Tango in the Night ~ it just flowed really nicely, but that's not an option.
Soo..... Storytellers. Awesome!! The only bit of it I don't like is that during the guitar solo when she's dancing her little heart out, the camera shows her from the back. Idiots. ;)
Interesting poll! :wavey:
