View Full Version : Why was Street Angel ignored?

Looking at the tracklisting for Crystal Visions here are the number of songs per album:
Bella Donna - 4
Wild Heart - 2
Rock A Little - 3
OSOTM - 1
Street Angel - 0
TISL - 2
Fleetwood Mac - 4
New - 1 (Rock And Roll)
Of coarse, we all knew when this tracklisting was released that SA was ignored, but why? I just don't understand why she would not choose 1 song from that album, i mean, what about MLWCYM, that song at least charted. It's just weird to me that she would totally disregard that entire album for this new release...

Umm, cause for the most part it sucks?
And was the low point of her career?
I avoid trying to assume I know what she thinks, but I would think it was also the low point of her life and is a ton of bad memories.
Except for about 3 or 4 tracks, and even those are subpar, I know I prefer to just forget it.
I suspect she feels the same.

Probably because nothing on SA was a hit
Atleast we have videos on the DVD though...

Stevie HAS trashed this album herself. In a 1994 interview promoting the album she said she wasn't happy with it and wouldn't be giving to anyone for Christmas. She said she was just happy to have it behind and move on to something new.

It was the low point of her career... The weight issues, the addiction to Klonopin etc... The tour for the album was the only one I missed since 1985.
*HOWEVER* I think about 3/4 of the album is solid, the Bob Dylan cover is good, and Blue Denim ROCKS, and it's one of those songs that holds a very special meaning for me. Memories of times when life was simpler.

Record companies usually mastermind retrospectives, so they probably came up with the track list, based on what they felt would be most popular among general music consumers (to whom these sets are directed).
Time constraints may be another factor. You can only fit so much Stevie onto one disc. In terms of popularity, the tracks from Street Angel are probably viewed the most dispensible by her label. Many of the studio tracks will probably be in edit form, too.

I have a feeling Stevie will never take some time to tell us the real story as to what went down with that record. She should. A soul that's true is your line to glory. She shouldn't let her golden hair get in the way either baby. :p

Don't even get me started on this topic. It pisses me off that some people (me) love Street Angel and it has been totally ignored since '94. I was pleased to see her add 4 tracks to Enchanted, however. At least put Blue Denim on the CD tracklisting. The song is classic Stevie. And maybe adding some obsure singles might entice people to actually buy Street Angel. But whatever......add two EO17s or whatever.

Stevie doesn't like it, it's one of her poorest selling albums and it had no hits, that's the long and short of it.
But yes Blue Denim is on the DVD so it is represented in a small way.

I like Street Angel...it's sort of the ugly duckling you want to root for. Yeah, Blue Denim should have been on the new compilation. And why do we have to have two Edge's! Beauty and the Beast, live with the Melbourne Orchestra should have been there instead. The Edge is so overdone.

I'm confused. She didn't included because she didn't like SA. However she did include it in Enchanted.
As an album it was far from being big deal, but some songs are cool

She has distanced herself from the failure of SA.
