I was just reading some reviews on Amazon.com for TISL. Now I know that everyone is entitled to their own opinions, and there is nothing wrong with that. But the latest customer review of the album really shocked me. It's only from a few weeks ago...

On Trouble in Shangri-La, Stevie Nicks' voice sounds like that of a post-menopausal smoker who garggles daily with razor blades. It seems she needs to come up with some incantations to restore her decaying body or else just give it up. If you like this album you will like the lastest by Stephen Hawking...

Everyone's entitled to their opinion... and this person's opinion doesn't change the fact that 'TISL' was a Top 5 album, has sold over 655,000 copies and received some of the absolute best critical reviews of Stevie's career.

I'd also like to point out that Baheshdi has albums by Dionne Warwick, OMD, Barry Manilow and Peter, Paul & Mary on his/her wishlist... so I really wouldn't take their opinion too seriously. ;)

MY review is on there! I kept it short because I didn't know what to say about such a brilliant album:

Where do I begin? This album has been like my best friend at times. It has its flaws, but the flaws are easily forgotten because its real, and its everything you would expect from a Stevie Nicks album.

After the precious and inconsistent 'Street Angel' was a commercial and critical disapointment, Stevie's star seemed like it is fading. But after the succesful 1997 Rumours line-up reunion, The Dance, Stevie's star began to rise again. Releasing 'Trouble in Shangri-La' confirmed Stevie's place in Pop and Rock history, proving that a woman in her 50's can still make a better record than most modern artists.

This album could not be any better, and hopefully this is not the last we will hear of Ms. Nicks, because, like fine-wine, she only gets better with age.

Key tracks: Fall From Grace, Trouble in Shangri-La, Sorcerer, Planets of the Universe, I Miss You.

yes - clearly this person has horrific taste.
who cares what this misogynist asshole thinks about the album?

you should not have given them the satisfaction of putting their review on this board.

My review should be on there, somewhere. Though I suggest that certain people (coughcougmichaelcoughcough) refrain from reading it. I don't think I was nearly as cutting in my remarks, but I certainly didn't have anything nice to say.

Actually, I just reread it and...

I did have a few nice things to say about the old Stevie, just not the TISL Stevie.

I prefer the modern-day Stevie to the drug-addled Stevie of the past...

I'll be nice and not let slip what's in my mind about that statement...

Time from Trouble In Shangri-La reference to Miss Vicky shooting her mouth off: 5 hours, 15 minutes.

Needs improvement.

This is just someone thinking they are clever instead of saying anything of real insight or substance. That's one of the problems with the Internet, it has provided a mechanism for people to masturbate to their own words, yet with an audience.

If this person had given me a more intelligently worded reason why he thinks TISL is not Stevie's best work, he would have had my respect, but this way? Please, I can't even take him half seriously.

This is precisely why I pay no attention to Amazon's reviews--I read a review for one of Heart's records and it was worse than the one posted in this thread for Stevie. I sometimes even wonder if the people who leave awful, and in many cases, mean reviews, even purchased the music and listened to if, or if they decided one morning to be an a$$ hole and leave sh!tty review just for the hell of it.

As for the Stephen Hawkings comment .... I mean, come on. That's just NOT on.
