In that case you would do well to read and re-read all rules and then maybe get to know the board - how it works - how people post....rather than just starting thread after thread after thread.

edit: Just some friendly advice, seeing as how some people are already visibly annoyed...not meant to be rude or anything - but hey everyone needs a refresher of the rules now and again. I just re-read them yesterday :)

Your lyrics are atrocious and they need a lot of work, or maybe a quick demise to the round file. However, sometimes lyrics can attain new meaning with good music- although, these are really going to need something special. The reason my website is set up the way it is is so that people who visit it can listen to some rare music and learn a little more about me. If it seemed like i was dangling a carrot in front of you, I am truely sorry because that is totally not what I was trying to do. I'm just trying to offer the best of both worlds.

What is the point?
If the point is to criticize Ethan, I didn't miss it, it's appearing in heavy rotation these days. In this thread many are focusing on the fact that he is drawing from Stevie's lyrics, but people are forgetting that he is supposedly 16 years old and has a lot to learn about lyric writing. Who, among those of us who write, in their beginnings or youth hasn't done what he is doing? I once wrote a song that was sort of a response to Dreams as if Lindsey were singing. I only remember the chorus but it went: "Hear the thunder, feel the rain. All that's left is the hurt and pain. You said goodbye, you let me go.. my dreams are gone and now I know".
It's extremely cheesy, and takes words from the original song, but when you are young and starting to take writing seriously everything you write is important in developing as a writer. It can be very hard to open yourself up to people and share your writing. Constructive criticizim is great and helpful, but just being negative to someone because it seems the popular thing to do lately speaks more about the critic and less about the writer.

Well, Ive been on that board often enuff that its obvious to ME that Ethan gets more than his fair share of crapola slung at him. Ive seen him accused of all sorts of things and for the life of me I cant figure out WHY :distress:

He must have a pretty thick skin to have weathered all the abuse over on 7W and now he's getting the same treatment here. I havent seen him do anything wrong, why cant we give the guy a chance? So he's borrowed from Stevie. Stevie herself borrows and she admits it!

Im just amazed at the level of out and out animosity toward a newbie. :shrug:

I don't really think what he is doing is ripping her off per se. I mean, if he were to actually have these songs recorded and published I think it would be pretty hard for Stevie to sue him because he used the words beautiful child in his lyrics. Do you remember when Michelle Branch came out with that song Sheryl Crow sang on also? I think it was "Love me like that " or something like that. There was a line in the song that went "Well I was your gypsy throwing diamnonds at your feet" or Good Fortune by P.J. Harvey "So I took my good fortune and I fantasize about leaving. Like some modern day gypsy landslide". To me it's kind of the same. I mean, can I never write a song with the word landslide in it because of Stevie and the fact I'm a fan? Sometimes I catch myself writing something that I feel is too similar to a song that's already out and I self edit, but I don't think that's unusual.
I do agree that it seems like he is more interested in how many people see his lyrics than what they think about them, but again, I chalk that up to age and inexperience. He probably views the rank in terms of success and attributes the success to the lyrics, which it's not.

I thought he was a kid from the get go...and I am taking that into account. There's a reason that 16 year old and 30s year old don't generally hang out in real life - I find that it's generally no different on here (with a few exceptions)

I didnt say YOU necessarily cared about the lyrics, it was a comment in general. I dont know why anyone would think Ethan was anything other than what he says he is, a High School student who studies music and who has a love for Stevie Nicks.

Deanna - I know what you mean! Figuring out age online can be hard to do. I tend to not look at spelling and major punctuation and that sort of thing as an indicator, because that can be misleading.
