...and i think we all know the Stevie version of this song. Come on people, which do you prefer?

I'd use the Laura Branigan version as toilet paper.

LMAO! Ah yes, but if it weren't for Laura Stevie would never have recorded this and it's an amazing song on OSOTM.

let's see if you can guess how I'll vote. :p

No offense to anyone who likes this song. I think Cry Wolf is terrible - just one of the pieces of crap that helped sink a poorly executed album.

I blame this equally on Rupert Hine and Stevie Nicks, since, according to Stevie, he picked the songs and she let him.

Stevies is vocally and musically a far superior song

Still quite like Branigans version though!

I didn't vote. It's one of those songs that she should have never recorded.

I don't really care for Cry Wolf much either.

But on a somewhat related note, I found out recently that the lady who wrote the song, Jude Johnstone, also wrote the song "A Good Guy" that Trisha Yearwood sings on the Stormy Weather benefit CD.

I really like "A Good Guy" and was trying to find out who originally recorded/performed it. I haven't been able to find any other versions, but I thought it is interesting that it was also written by Jude.

I'm not wicked crazy over it either, but, as with all of Stevie's songs, good or bad, there are parts that I simply adore. especially the last 30 seconds or so.

I love Laura too, but everything that annoys me about her voice is on display on her version of this song.

I voted for LB's version. I like Stevie's but think it is just not suited for her style and IMO the production was lacking.

Well I like Laura's version. I like her anyway I think Self Control is awesome but Stevie IS the rock queen and always will be. ROCK ON GOLD DUST WOMAN!!

I have not heard LB's version so I really can't vote .It 's a song that could have been written by a modestly talented high schooler ..one of the many cringe worthy Klonopin moments La Nicks had so often back then .That being said I do still think TOSOTM is 3/4 of a great album.

I don't like Laura Branigan's version...

I like Stevie's version somewhat, but its not a favourite...

The version I like best is Jude Johnstone's - she wrote it and sang it how it was meant to be sung...

In all fairness..Stevie's voice is pretty shot on Cry Wolf!

I agree. It's pretty awful. I voted for Stevie anyway.

I don't think the song is THAT bad--but Stevie's version blows away Laura's in my opinion.....

While I concur that it is not a Stevie masterpiece, I go with Stevie over Laura B on this one. And what is up with that video and the guy doing somersaults all over the place?

This was cool hearing the other version, but without a doubt I take Stevie's version. I actually adore the song, one of my faves on OSOTM. I love playing it on the piano......

Much Love,
Ethan

Laura Branigan... rest in peace. I never knew how she died (cancer?)

I didn't vote cause didn't hear the SN version. But it's funny, I'm immediately thought in I FOUND SOMEONE. What version I like more? LB or Cher's? Cher, of course..

One of my least favorite songs... on my LEAST favorite album of Stevie's.
I will chime in and pick the Stevie version however.

I had them all posted on YouTube, but alas I am now blocked...as are my videos. Some were even removed post haste by those bastards...

I will post now on Veoh.com thanks to some very good advice I received here

Oh, and I voted for Stevie's version.

Apparently I'm in the minority (which is nothing new), but I actually quite like "Cry Wolf." It's a pretty, straight-forward song that fits Stevie's oeuvre quite well, and I think she nailed the vocal with her wistful, yet determined delivery.

I don't get this copyright infringement issue, especially when so many others are left online at YouTube and SOME are removed. It has to be individuals who lodge complaints, as I doubt the record company actually browses the videos online.
