Rosie is funny. I actually liked Rosie in this video and her Morticia Addams and Stevie Nicks joke was pretty funny:lol: Madonna acted like a jerk though.

That was back when Madonna had a NY accent. Before she became a Brit. Rosie just acted kind of nervous- we know she adores Stevie.

I know - poor Madonna -- always changing and never seemingly comfortable in her own skin.
Interestingly and as an aside - - Rosie was on VH-1 in like 1987 and said that she had Thanksgiving dinner at someone's house where there were a bunch of people and La Nicks was one of them. I think I am remembering this correctly. In fact, Rosie was sort of a V-Jay there for awhile -- or, i may just be having an X flashback to my college days

She was a particularly foul douchebag during this fake accent phase.

I would have used rancid as opposed to foul - but I agree.

Rancid. That's priceless. You are one of the few people I have ever met that can riff on one of my phrases and say the utterly perfect thing I didn't take the extra five seconds to dream up.:xoxo:
You are obviously my Jimmy Iovine.
Without the unibrow and annoying nasal NY voice.

Like most comics, Rosie pokes fun at everyone. But it looks like Rosie felt especially pressured to come up with something witty when Madonna put her on the spot. Stevie's fashion is always an easy target.

AND - RO can never get it through her head that it's WHITE wing dove - not ONE wing dove as I think she made the same mistake like ten years later when La Nicks was on her show promoting TISL

That was fun...I loved Rosie back then..in my mega obsessed w/ A League of Their Own
Yes, Rosie was on VH-1...either as a V-J or she hosted something...or did stand-up _ I can't remember now  But I remember watching tons of VH-1 because of Rosie...and the ALOTO connection....

As I totally asked her about that rumor when I was backstage before doing the opening intro that she chose me for at her show in December of 1998! But just in case, I will e-mail her that question now and wait for an answer and post it when she responds!<a href="http://photobucket.com/" target="_blank"><img src="http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y247/GiniLeaE/winkgrin.gif" border="0" alt="Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting"></a>

<a href="http://photobucket.com/" target="_blank"><img src="http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y247/GiniLeaE/bouncy.gif" border="0" alt="Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting"></a>The only thing I ever ask any of the celebrities/musicians or anyone is about my fascination (Alright...I'll admit it! Borderline obsession!) with La Nicks! And she said she felt the same about her too. Not on the same level as Barbra Streisand (which is how I feel about Stevie!<a href="http://photobucket.com/" target="_blank"><img src="http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y247/GiniLeaE/love.gif" border="0" alt="Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting"></a>) BUT she does count her in her top 5! I was so impressed with her that day...and Whoopi Goldberg, who I also introduced (along with Angelina Jolie, Susan Sarandon and Shawn Mullins).

I have on lame reindeer antlers and she does a dolphin impersonation for those of you that were avid watchers/fans like me!<a href="http://photobucket.com/" target="_blank"><img src="http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y247/GiniLeaE/lmao.gif" border="0" alt="Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting"></a>

Ugh, this makes me uncomfortable too: madonna is like some vicious 13 year old popular girl picking on her flunky side kick. She humiliated her friend on television. "what're you wearing!" Please! Why is therea stuffed cat sitting on your head?
*My Madonna disclaimerMadonna worked her ass off to get where she is, she has moxie, real super-star charisma, and an amazing body which she maintains impeccably; however, in my opinion, her voice, despite years of vocal training, stage and studio experience, and sophisticated pitch-correcting software, has only just attained the level of "good".

Jeeesus, I just watched this. I hadn't seen it since the original broadcast. It reminded me that Arsenio was the shit in his time. And that Madonna makes me want to vomit up a 10 year old lunch to this very day. What a phony, harsh, no talent heap of gutter snipe trash she is. Man. The fact that she is famous and rich is a simply a reflection of how low our culture had plummeted by then. And has gone even lower since.
Gotta go puke now.

I'll give her that she is a talented dancer, but that is about it. She has surrounded herself with great producers and has made some very wise decisions - I give her credit for that as well. But, a true talent she is not and never will be. And, do not get me started on the acting
Having said that, I, to this day, still love dancing around to Holiday, Dress You Up, Vogue, Ray of Light, Erotic, et al. I think they are great music. Therein is her draw I guess.

couldn't agree more. I think she has more talent than people give her credit for. she's a talented writer and dancer, I think. she's not a great singer, but she ain't horrible either (in fact, I love her live when her voice is strained and she tries to sing If I Live To Tell...something about that gives me chills...the way her voice sounds). and she's made some damn good song choices and, like you said, has worked with the best. her acting is a horrid. that movie where she was washed onto an island? pure shit. they could've at least gotten a cute boy to be in the movie with her!
but, all that said, I still like her.

She's a douchebag. If she wrote a single song on her own, or contributed more than a phrase scrap or a slight melody change to one she bought from one of those hacks for hire, I'll eat my own foot.
If Pepsi or Phillip Morris is an artist, then she is.

Oh - I agree, she is a crass harpy who would sell her soul for the limelight -- and time certainly has proven that to be true. She also, I believe, has written no song by herself, though I do not know all her songs, etc. In the end, I think her music is a blast, but she personally is not my cup of tea.

I feel like Madonna reflects American society. Insecure, so has to mask that by stepping on other people. Never happy with what she's got, always searching for something new. Sometimes it's in search of something meaningful, like spirituality, but then she gets bored
I like her music very much, though. I am not a big fan of dance music, but her stuff always gets me going.

Stevie and Madonna are my two favorite people in the world, and I willl defend Madonna just like I would defend Stevie. Yes, she has been writing her own songs since her first album. "Lucky Star" was the first song she wrote. She always collaborates with someone on her albums, and often she will write the words and the other person will write the melody. Here she is talking about Patrick Leonard, who produced True Blue and Like a Prayer.
...[ Patrick Leonard and I] have a very good working relationship because we both come from the Midwest, and we both worked our butts off to get where we are. But, you know, he's the one who studied music. He knows how to read music, how to write music. I don't know any of that. I'm completely instinctual and he's completely intellectual. So it's a really good combination.
Sounds awfully similar to what Stevie has said before. Madonna got where she is with talent and pure determination. Don't hate. (Unless it's someone I hate, then by all means.)

Another common trait is that in their heyday they both f*cked anything with a d*ck and a pulse. :D
I think that's about as far as the Madge/La Nicks comparison can go. Stevie won't make music like Madonna's, and vice versa. Madonna's music is more of the "feel good" type, while Stevie has always been about the intensity.
