View Full Version : Sentimental Lady
Okay, I just saw an ask.com ad on the Emmy broadcast that used Bob Welch's Sentimental Lady. Or did I?

Yes, it was. With that Harry and the Hendersons Bigfoot-like creature. LOL
I also love that commercial because John Krasinski (Jim from The Office...which won for Best Comedy tonight!! WOOOO!!) does the voiceover. :)

I've seen that ad before. I think it's been on for awhile now. It's the solo version of the song rather than the Fleetwood Mac version though.

I prefer the solo version because I just love Christine's vocals on it

I'm exactly the opposite.:D I love the Fleetwood Mac/Bare Trees version best because of her vocals.

(being honest here-ducks!) From a production standpoint, I never thought the PHRASING of the vocals meshed very well, on the FM version. I love the song, but it sounds like Chris and Bob had NO reference to the other's vocal, when laying down the tracks. Their phrasing is apples and oranges, and that bothers me.:sorry:
Maybe that's the sound they were going for, but it sounds.....unusual, to me...

I like the FM version it's just the soaring "all I need is you" gives me goose bumps

Welllllllllll, ya gotta remember that they had to remix the entire album in a short amount of time (like overnight) because the original album master mixes got erased while going through JFK's scanners when they were bringing them to Reprise to master the album. THAT may have something to do with the disjointedness of the vocal blend. I'll bet the entire album sounded a helluva lot better on those original mixes.
