Just curious what the collective Fleetwood Mac fan opinion is of Highway Companion.

I haven't listened to the whole thing yet but in general I have to say it's sort of lacking lust. And it's not because it's a "quiet album". It just feels a little tired and maybe the songs aren't the greatest. Or it could be that here's a guy that has made so many perfect albums over the years. Or maybe it's the Jeff Lynne production is tired.
Maybe Nigel Godrich would have been a better choice for something new and fresh.
It's not a clunker by any means - just not his strongest effort. And I think his voice has gotten a little "throaty" the past few years.
Oh well - I still love Tom and can't wait to see him on this tour.

I dunno it could be that his cred kind of went up in smoke when he became "The Last Bat Mitzvah MC"

It's not a bad album. Like you said, it's lacking lust.

But incidently - it's his highest debut of his career with the best opening week sales since soundscan began tracking sales - and it's his highest charting cd since 89. Could just be because it was released at a rather slow time, but still, Theres a few good tracks on it.
