OK, Ledgies, let's talk about food!

What's your favorite cereal? My favorite is Honey Bunches of Oats with Strawberries ... it's the perfect cereal. Crunchy, sweet, tart ... Yummmm! I haven't been eating a lot of it lately, though, since I'm trying to lose some weight ... so it's Kashi GoLean Crunch for me!

Oh, those Golden Grahams - and -
It's Honey Nut Cheerios!

My friend's favorite is Honey Bunches of Oats, too. I haven't really had it.

Also this one from the bins at Whole Foods - Vanilla Almond granola crunchy. The Pumpkin Spice granola crunchy is good, too.
There aren't many cereals I don't like, actually, which is why I rarely buy it. I thought of about 15 in the space of four seconds. Dangerous.

I almost bought that Vanilla Almond cereal when I was at the mustard seed the other day. Cereal in general is one of my favorite foods ... yummmmmmm. I'm only letting myself have a cup a day, tho.

I'm a little kid. I alternate between #1- Frosted Flakes and #2- Peanut Butter Captain Crunch.

Seriously. :o
I eat cereal maybe 1-2 evenings a week(I like it for dessert!). And I RARELY eat any sweets, so it's my occasional sugar fix!

That's good. It's hard for me to stop once I start. You know, I'll have three bowls? I'll eat it dry for a snack? Etc. Total Carb addict. although I'm not sure carb is a proper noun, in need of capitalization.
And that vanilla almond sh*t is awesome.

P.S. Those ones are good, Homie. Especially PBCC. I really like Cocoa Crispies, I remember. I'd probably finish the whole box at once.

I LOVE cap'n crunch. LOVE. I could eat a whole box of it in one sitting. I hate how it scratches the roof of your mouth, tho - ouch. But it's so sweet and buttery and good ... :woohoo:

I can't eat Cocoa Crispies, or any other chocolate cereal. I've just never enjoyed it. Wait, I take that back. I love the Reese's Cup cereal. That shiz is amazing. But it's the only chocolate one I like.

It's hard for me to stop, too, but I'm being pretty civilized about my eating habits in general right now. And I'm going to start going back to the gym tomorrow.

When I was a kid, it was all about Cap'n Crunch with Crunchberries and the Peanut Butter variety....also Count Chocula.

I want to cast another vote for the Reese's Puffs, Ive got a box as we speak!

my son likes Chocolate Lucky Charms and Cap'n Crunch w/Crunchberries as well!

Raisin Bran Crunch is my favorite. I like it because it doesn't get soggy and mushy after 30 seconds in milk like most cereal.

07-31-2006, 10:51 AM
As a kid, my favorite was Life.

I usually eat Raisin Bran, and I LOVE Basic 4 but I'm not going to pay $5 for a small box.

I do love sugary not-good-for-you-at-all cereals (Cap'n Crunch & Cinammon Toast Crunch come to mind) but I fugure if I'm going to eat a bowl full of starch & sugar, I may as well try to jam some fiber in too.

I like regular old Cornflakes or Branflakes. I don't drink milk so I tend to eat then dry or with a little water.

I'm not into sugary breakfasts. There seems to be a fascination (and I blame America for this I'm afraid) for eating sugary and chocolaty cereals. Sugar Puffs, Coco Pops, Honey Nut Loops, Frosties etc etc etc.. Theres already sugar in breakfast fruits and juices before a glucose hit from the cereal too

Its no wonder childhood diabetes is on the rise.

Britain is now getting as bad too. Mcdonalds, Coke etc etc we all can deal with. Junk food. take it or leave it. Most disturbing is when you find sugar is being added to bread and milk too.. Its a bit worrying, especially with the salt content.

My favorite is actually Frosted Mini Spooners -the Malt-O-Meal (cereal in a bag) version of Frosted Mini Wheats. I don't like the actual Frosted Mini Wheats - but LOVE the mini-spooners.

Lately I've been enjoying Life Cereal.

Others that I love:

Lucky Charms
Frosted Flakes
Cheerios (just plain old Cheerios)
Trix

Oh -and a while ago they put out an "Oops All Berries" variety of Cap't Chrunch - LOVED that...what a sugar rush! :D

Yeah its a mushy sort of porridge type slop. I think you add hot milk and mix it up. I used to really love it as a kid but when I stopped drinking milk I stopped eating it.

I like a splash of 1% myself. Probably not even enough to go halfway up the cereal bowl.

For me it depends on the cereal. Life - I like it crunchy - so I just splash a little milk on there - I fill up my bowl a bit more with mini-spooners.

Otherwise - I use about a cup or so. And I drink skim, only skim :)

I love cereal...

COLD:
Life
Rice, Bran or Wheat Chex (no Corn Chex...except in Chex mix at Christmas)
Frosted Mini Wheats (preferably the unflavored, but the Vanilla Creme isn't bad, nor is the Strawberry)
Quaker Puffed Wheat & Puffed Rice
Honey Bunches of Oats (w/almonds or strawberries)
Cracklin' Oat Bran
Both Cocoa & Fruity Pebbles
Raisin Bran
Spoon Size Shredded Wheat
Grape-Nuts
Alpha-Bits
Lucky Charms
Actually, just about anything with "Bran" in the name.

HOT:
Quaker Instant Oatmeal (Strawberries & Creme, Blueberries & Cream, Peaches & Cream...or Brown Sugar & Cinnamon, Brown Sugar & Raisins)
Chocolate Malt-O-Meal

Cheerios for me, all the way, every day. Just the plain stuff in the yellow box. With a little bit of skim milk. I even have pajamas with Cheerios on them. Hubby calls me "Cheerios-Girl." How did he come up with that one? :)

Ooh, I like the honey bunches of oats. I haven't had that in awhile. I've been doing the bran thing for awhile now. I know, I'm old. Stoppit. I used to love the really sugary stuff, like Lucky Charms and Count Chocula. And Cinnamon Mini Buns! Have you ever had those? Good stuff. I've really gotten away from the sugar, tho, so I think if I were to have those cereals again I'd either get super hyped up or keel over.

You know what I love most about Honey Bunches of Oats? The commercials. I LOVE that black lady who yells things like "WE MAKE A LOT OF CEREAL HERE" and such. I don't know why, but I enjoy her.

I do like the cereal as well, but it's just not filling to me - so I end up eating more than a serving - which is bad. That's my problem with a lot of cereals - which is why I like more weighty ones.

Cocoa Pebbles

Yay, I'm so glad everyone's willing to discuss cereal with me! :woohoo: I love you guys! :xoxo:

Re Paula's milk question, I usually like to put enough milk in the bowl so that I can see it through the cereal ... that's usually the right ratio for me. Now that I'm really watching what I eat, though, I usually have 1/2 a cup of milk with 1 cup of cereal. It's too much milk for that amt of cereal, but eh.

In other news, I started going back to the gym today and I feel like a million bucks. Well ... maybe not a million. But I feel good.

Like you, I put very little on my cereal, but unlike you, I always use 2% :p.

I'm with the poster who likes frosted mini-wheats (the vanilla creme are delicious!) I also like warm Grape Nuts in the winter, I know, I'm weird.

Sugary cereals are the best although I never eat them. Cocoa Puffs are great and does anyone remember Cookie Crisp? Do they still make that? Man, I used to love that as a kid.
