Not sure if anyone has ever mentioned the Stevie reference in the Augusten Burroughs book "Running With Scissors." (preface: he had a very bizzare childhood and his crazy mother gave him over to her physciatrist's family to be raised...and they were even crazier.

Recalling his childhood musical aspirations with his friend:

"It was our goal to become an international singing sensation, on par with Peaches N' Herb or the Captain and Tenille. We practiced upstairs in Natalie's room by singing along to Stevie Nicks albums. The problem was, Stevie was sometimes hard to understand and Natalie had long since lost the liner notes to the album. So I would lie on the floor next to the speaker and Natalie would stand with her finger poised over the needle.

"Wait, I can't understand that -- play it again," I'd say, scribbling furiously to keep up. "Is she singing 'just like a wine-ringed love' or 'white-winged dove'?"
Natalie would drop the needle on the record, causing it to screech. "Hold on, here it comes." The verse would play and again I couldn't understand. "F-it, I'll just write something in."

Another reference:

Sometimes we would drag the fan upstairs. This would created a sort of Stevie-Nicks-in-a-wind-tunnel look that we especially loved."

He is a hysterical writer. His latest book of short stories, Possible Side Effects,
is particularly funny. Another gay guy with a Stevie Nicks fetish. Go figure.

I'm really looking forward to the movie based on the book. It could be one of the surprises at next Oscars, IMO.

Oh I love Augusten Burroughs! I'm glad to learn he has new work out. I read Running With Scissors a couple years ago. It cracked me up and I rememeber that Stevie Nicks part. He also refers to her in his book Dry also. If you haven't read Magical Thinking, that's another one of his books that's hilarious.

Oh I know I can't wait for this movie to come out. I know Evan Rachel Wood is in it and the movies she is apart of are usually pretty good (Thirteen). It should be interesting.
