I wanna go. Do any regular people go there? What happens if it's Stevie Nicks night? Who performs? What's the deal?

Now thats too funny Amber-Do regular people go??? Of course they do! I have a younger friend-28-who loves Stevie-and I think we'll be going. I am sure it will be a blast.

Well how would I know? So, do people perform, or what happens? Will everyone be dressed like Stevie? And, you didn't say your younger friend wasn't a tranny. I didn't mean regular like young, I meant non gay, non tranny.

NICE! This is JUST what the Dr. ordered. HOWEVER, it is a bummer when I go to these things, and the Trannies look WAY better than I could ever hope to!!!
Hey Ricki, were you ever part of the whole Bella Donna Ball stuff? I mean did you go, know the people etc???
If this is anything like my old days at Este Noche's (prolly HORRIBLY mispelled) it ought to be a great night!

Yes, I went to the first few of those events, at the Covered Wagon and some basement bar on 9th or 8th that I can't remember. I sang SDMHA, both Stevie and Tom's parts, at one of them. I know Cat, I believe those were her parties.
amber and others: just so you know what to expect, it's not going to be the kind of drag where people try to look like and imitate Stevie. Trannyshack is over the top intentionally scary/bad drag focused more on theatrical performances. For example, Anna Conda is going to lip to GDW, but instead of trying to look like Stevie doing the performance, she is going to be Anna Conda being chased by a giant black widow.
That kind of thing.
However, there is this kid tranny-in-training (Miss Nicks) who I met on my birthday who is a fierce Stevie fan, so we can expect good stuff from her.
I also wouldn't expect the place to be filled with Stevie fans. It will largely be filled with Trannyshack fans. But we can bring the Stevie energy!

It's anything and everyone, amber. Majority will be gay, but the Stud has always had a great mixed crowd. It is my favorite bar/club in the city and I haven't been for years.
There will be a performance, probably at midnight. I doubt many people will be dressed like Stevie. Like I said, it will be mainly TS fans, not Stevie fans. I also wouldn't expect Stevie music to be played all night.
I just wish it was on a weekend. But I'll probably go anyway.

Oh, that is so cool! Yes, I am good pals w/ Cat (& Deidre) love them both to death, and fiercly miss their parties! I am crap at keeping in touch w/ them, but if I just got my lazy butt to SF (like I am SOOOOO far away. lol) it'd be like we saw each other yesterday. Good people!
I have a videotape from the next to last party I belive. Not at Cafe Du Nord, or the final resting place off the Mission, but one of those downstairs places. Wonder if you are on it. What a hoot!
I am sure to be there, w/ as many people as I can bring. Hope to see you there!

I did not realise that anyone who knows me would attempt to take offense at that, or pretend to think I actually meant gay people were not normal.
Should I have put it in quotes? I was trying to avoid typing the longer "non tranny, non gay".
grip.

I ran into Cat a few months ago at Modern Art Museum. She was wearing a fab Warhol-looking Stevie t-shirt.
I wish there was some way we could recognize other ledgies at TS, like we all wore something similar. Actually, it'll probably be obvious...we'll be the actual Stevie fans singing along.;)

I Love that shirt. I have one too. Was one of the BDB invites, and she had some shirts made.
Anyway, yea, it should be pretty obvious who the ledgies/fans are...but in SF, at something like this, we're all bonker fans, and I just hope it's going to be a good a time as I imagine. Can't wait!!!! INFACT...I should call them, and see if they'll be there. The Tues. night thing does put an aweful spin on it though =0(

I've been to Trannyshack a few times. A riot, as always. The last time I went to a Stevie tribute, the overhead monitors started to smolder a bit. I thought it was part of the ambiance for Rooms on Fire!

Anyone still going to this? I didn't realize that all shows here start at Midnight. YIKES! I dunno if anyone will be coming w/ me. I'm all good to go solo, BUT that would sorta suck. I really wanna see this. It's going to be fabulous!

Show was at Midnight, tardy ass me was there at a little after Midnight. Then it was a wait to get in, as it was maxed out w/ people, occupancy rules.
THEN, I get in, and it's PACKED w/ people. Temp immediately rises to like 100 +, as passing past packed bodies makes for an unpleasant and uncomfortable forray. I can hear Stevie music blaring. I think I came in about "Gypsy" time, but could not get ANYWHERE near where the act was going on to see what the performence was
Slowly and gradually I made my way up front. I could scarcely see "Sara" which was the most heartfelt true of the night. Not so much parodied as sung from the heart. Our Sara-syncher had lost a good pal named Sara so it was near to the heart.
Next up, Stand Back. This LMFAO parody involved a "Dorothy-esque" Stevie avoiding a perv. Trying to get all up in her knickers. Funny as hell, Finally she shoots him w/ a water pistol. (This is as best as I could see. So if I missed something more to the "story" I apologize.)
The most glorious of why I wanted to go last night, was for Leather & Lace. A trailer park waitress type crooning to her fat hot-dog eating man. While he gnaws on his food, grease stains EVERYWHERE...wearing a wife beater and BVD's....it just was so visually funny. As she sings to him, she adorns him w/ her underwear, and attains his "leather." wink, wink.
Almost TOO the stage by this point, (pics here on out) first we have Outside the Rain, synched in full Stevie vein, complete w/ a Sharon & Lori. lol. The provided all the moves and "oohs" thruout the song. Priceless.
Some banter between Heklina & Anna, before a new Queen took the stage. Cookie Dough?? Not sure I have the name right. She got the rolled eyes of Anna for choosing the Dixie Chicks version of Landslide. Alas, she didn't breathe much life, as her vision for the song was Hawaii/ukulele theme...sorry Dough.
Next was "Miss Nicks." Am I too understand that this really is Anna's daughter??? She was FAB! And the crowd loved her. Got all into the glazed eyeball look of Stevie wrapped up in her Rhainnon moment. W/ a fan blowing on all our Stevies this night, she really utilized it for some great hairwhipping moments. lol
Last, I believe was the Deep Dish Dreams remix. Our beautiful Stevie this round gave the look of being fast asleep, but woken by this great remix of Dreams. LOL. Lots of fun. At the close of the show, the DJ appeared to be keepin' it real by spinning Mac & Nicks thruout the night, but already melting and packed in like a sardine, I opted to head home =0( Even if I had had friends to meet there, we never would found one another. I am sorry I wasn't there earlier to see it all. It was a blast, and if they do it again, I'm all over it!
Sadly, upon being in the great SF for no more than 2 hours, I come out to my car to see a parking ticket. SOAB! Welcome to SF. Aww, s'alright. Atleast I sang Stevie all the way home. LOL. Last pic...sorry, was me afterwards. Forgot to get a pic beforehand. :distress:

I met Miss Nicks on my birthday at the bar Anna spins on Fridays. She is awesome and quite beautiful in boy drag as well.
Thanks for the write-up! It sounds fantastic, although I never would have lasted with the crowd.

Thanks for sharing, Anita. I tend to get claustrophobia at The Stud, so it wasn't going to happen for me.
Glad to hear you had a great time. Those pics are great, especially the one of you in all your finery :woohoo:

Awww.thanks all for the comps!!!! :xoxo: Wish I had gotten one prior. Woulda looked happier. LMAO! That was after being confined, AND FINED! lol It was necc. to go cause all that matters is so many people gathered for one thing. Not like a concert where the usual suspects would go, cause they had to and bought a ticket. Nope, this was a wide range deal, and SO many people thought "hey, we oughta go check this out" and they did! Sweet!

Great review, great pics, and you looked fab! I would totally go to something like that here. But San Fran or NYC would be even better.
