My New Street Angel

After studying all day - I wanted to let out my creative side, so I started painting - but that got too messy :laugh: While I was painting I happened to be listening to Street Angel - and I started thinking about all the problems with the album, and decided to try and fix them.

I decided on a new tracklisting:

01 - Street Angel
02 - Kick It
03 - Unconditional Love (Master Version)
04 - Greta
05 - Listen to the Rain
06 - Rose Garden
07 - Destiny
08 - Blue Denim (Single Version)
09 - Inspiration
10 - Maybe Love (Single Version)
11 - Thousand Days (Single Version)

And to fix that awful cover design, I made new front, inside and back covers:

After I made the CD, and printed out the covers and put them into a jewel-case, I blocked the existance of the old Street Angel out of my head and gave this a listening to - and I came up with a strong 3 stars out of 5 on my personal ratings :D

What do you think, did this improve SA at all - or was there never any hope? :shrug: :laugh:

good idea ... i've always been a fan of street angel, actually; i think people are too hard on it. i like it more than otosm and even ral on some days. i like that you replaced jane with thousand days - jane is just paaaaaainful, imo.

"Mirror Mirror" was recorded for the RAL album. It would have been rather silly to put that song on there...

You are right - but the vocals are still the same from RAL - it is not a 1994 version :angel: If it had vocals from the SA sessions - it would have been a good choice!

i meant to add that i like your artwork, too. i like the shot of stevie that's on the original SA cover, but overall it doesn't look to great with the text and everything. yours is nice, tho.

Thanks - I like the front cover to of the real SA (minus the text), but I wanted the front and back to be from the same photo shoot - and I did'nt like the real SA back cover...

yeah, we could.... i think the b-side sounds much more like klonopin stevie than coke stevie, at least any of the 6 RAL Mirror Mirror demos that I've heard. :-) but whateva.... i'm not here to argue.

I have no problems with the SA tracks but I've always hated the cover and back cover so yours was a huge improvement! I'm not overly crazy about the cover pic though. It seems to me that Stevie looks guilty and is thinking "I can't believe I ate the whole thing". Forgive me but thats the first thing that popped into my head when I saw it! (I love the 94-ish Stevie look...just wasnt a fan of that actual picture)

I would really push for Mirror Mirror {with 94 vocals} & God's Garden too
and i would swap Listen to the Rain with Love Is Like a River and Greta should be re-recorded ala RAL and THAT would be the BEST album :eek:

Thanks very much :woohoo: I may have considered putting "Mirror Mirror" on there, but this album I actually made, so I could not fantasize about "Mirror Mirror" being recorded in 1994, because it actually wasn't - so therefore was not an option for the album...

I love the new artwork too. But like StreetAngel86, I agree with changing the cover to the promo poster art. But I would use the full body shot with her arms in front of her - not spread apart. But good work. The change or addition to the song list is okay but I just play the songs I like a lot anyway and nothing else.

The only thing wrong with the SA cover is that horrible font they used and the color. I think the pic is great...I wonder at what point that picture was shot. I think usually the album artwork and phototgraphy is done after the album is completed. I see a lot of sadness and regret in that photo, so per haps it was shot after her stint in rehab and she was reflecting on the last eight years of her life. Maybe some of her feelings about SA, knowing that it wasn't her best work but she had to just "let it go" are also apparent in that photo. Regardless, I always liked the pic but I can't believe someone couldn't have come up with a more artistic way to put her name and the title on that beautiful image.

I love the Street Angel cover. It's so delicate and vulnerable ... fonts were a bit unimaginative, but anyway.
