Hello, my first post on the forum! :D A couple of questions/requests for everyone. Hopefully I won't ramble:p

1.I've seen a bunch of remixes posted here and was wondering if some kind soul could post the following ones for me:Rooms on Fire and Long Way to Go, as well as Rock a Little and I Can't Wait(the Steve Thompson/Michael Barbiero Vocal Dance Version from the US 12" Single, think it was wrongly listed as Instrumental). The first two I've never heard and would love to, the second two I have on 12" Vinyl but currently have no way to transfer to CD. Which brings me to question two.
2.I'm looking for a CD/Mp3 burner to add to my rack system. I'd want one that could copy CDs and records, and being able to program text info(song/artist/etc)is a must since my car CD player displays such info, don't wanna break the bank account on one, any suggestions. I've got a TON of 12" singles and REALLY want to transfer them to CD. :D
3.Lastly, with all the success Stevie has had with club mixes lately(POTU, the Deep Dish Dreams remix), and a supposed new greatest hits package due out this year, I had a thought. Don't you think it would be a good idea to remix "Stand Back" as a fairly low cost way to support the new GH CD? I always thought it was odd that one of her most dancable songs never had an official remix. I'd love to hear a Tracey Young mix for it! Thoughts?

Thanks again for any help/suggestions!

Welcome to the Ledge, Ginsu. :wavey:
Here are the remixes you requested....

"Rooms On Fire" (Extended Remix) (http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.php?action=download&ufid=B792F0B7092A7399)

"Long Way To Go" (Extended Remix) (http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.php?action=download&ufid=5849FEDE58910E1F)

"I Can't Wait" (Dance Mix) (http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.php?action=download&ufid=040E458357652A05)

"Rock A Little (Go Ahead Lily)" (Unedited Alternate Version) (http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.php?action=download&ufid=6E77907F6FA251A2)

Unfortunately, I can't recommend a CD/mp3 burner that would suit your needs, but hopefully someone else here can. You might even want to post your question in our Chit-Chat Forum (http://ledge.fleetwoodmac.net/forumdisplay.php?s=&daysprune=&forumid=9), where it has a greater likelihood of being noticed by one of our resident "tech heads."

As for your third question/comment... I'd also love to hear an official remix of "Stand Back," and, like you, I'm surprised one was never commissioned. There is a Discotech remix for the song that started circulating around 1991/92, but I don't think it was officially commissioned.

welcome ginsu (I get this mental image of the knives infomercial)

I think I have the Stand Back remix, but like Johnny said, it's most likely not an "official" remix. I'll check when I get home and post it if I have it.

Johnny Stew, Jazmen Flowers,

Thanks for the replies, remixes! :D Someone needs to put a "bug" in Stevie's ear about a Stand Back remix :p And Jazmen, I'd be interested in hearing that Stand Back mix you have. Thanks again!

Johnny Stew,

Just out of curiousity, who did the remix for "Long Way to Go"? I really like it(although I wish they had used the extra lyrics from the Slave version at the end, since the end of the remix is kinda "meh"). I'm going to post a few additional remix requests over in the Fleetwood Mac Rumours era, thanks again for any help! :)

Just out of curiousity, who did the remix for "Long Way to Go"?I am really sorry that I forgot to reply to this. Senile at 33 -- how d'ya like that! :o

Stephen W. Tayler did the remix for "Long Way To Go."

Johnny Stew,

Thanks for the reply. Hmmm, don't think I've ever heard of that remixer before. As for senile, I must be too, because I also meant to ask who did the "Rooms on Fire" and "Rock a Little" mixes in that post. I'm only 38 so I shouldn't be senile, either  Anywhoo, I was always annoyed at the fact they didn't credit the remixer for RAL on the sleeve for the 12". I wonder if it might have been Stevie? After all, she did the "other song/B-side" mix for the US "I Can't Wait" 12" single(I thought she did a fantastic job with the remix for "The Nightmare", myself.)

And one last request:Does anyone have the original mix of "Sleeping Angel"? The first time I heard it was the remixed version when I bought the Enchanted boxed set. Love the song and was wondering if the original was very different. Thanks! :)

DavidMn,

Thanks for the welcome! :)

Thanks for the reply. Hmmm, don't think I've ever heard of that remixer before. As for senile, I must be too, because I also meant to ask who did the "Rooms on Fire" and "Rock a Little" mixes in that post.Stephen W. Tayler has mixed and/or engineered a lot of albums (for artists like Peter Gabriel, Howard Jones, Tina Turner, Bob Geldof, Jethro Tull, and Rush), and he's also done a lot of work with the Fixx and Rupert Hine... which, I'm certain, is how he came to work on 'The Other Side Of The Mirror.'

The "Rooms On Fire" CD-single doesn't credit who remixed the track, oddly enough, but given that Tayler engineered and mixed 'OSOTM' and remixed "Long Way To Go," it's probably fairly safe to say that he also remixed "Rooms."

The long version of "Rock A Little" isn't really a remix, though it's often referred to as such. It's really an alternate take that wasn't edited down (notice that the lyrics in the 'RAL' album liner notes match this version of the song, as opposed to the shorter version that's actually on the album).

I uploaded the original mix of "Sleeping Angel" for you, from the 'Fast Times' soundtrack. I greatly prefer Chris Lord-Alge's remix over the original mix -- I think he really made the song come to life.

Johnny Stew,

Once again, many thanks! Now that you mention some of the artists S. Tayler has worked with, the name somewhat rings a bell(think I have some Howard Jones stuff he's worked on). I really like the Long Way to Go mix, just wish it didn't end so blandly. Someone did a re-edit using the album ending on this board that was pretty neat, THAT'S more like it should've ended....

Johnny do you think you could post Rock A Little again? (the link has expired)
I've always loved that version ever since I bought the Talk To Me single (is that right? It's either on the b-side of that or I Can't Wait) but I'd love to have an MP3 of it so I can put it on my iPod.
Thanks in advance!

YouSendIt isn't cooperating with me for some reason today, so I'll try to post those two requests later this evening when I get home from work. :wavey:

Johnny,

Another request, would you happen to have any Fleetwood Mac remixes? I posted in the Rumours section of the Fleetwood Mac part of the board. In that post is a link to an earlier topic where lots of links to mixes were posted(but have now since long expired). Some of the ones I'm looking for that were in the old topic are Peacekeeper, Big Love(Deep Dish Version), Go Your Own Way and Sara. If you or anyone else can help, thanks a ton. And thanks for all the stuff you've posted so far, everyone has been fantastic :)

Jazmen Flowers,

Were you ever able to dig up that Stand Back remix?:D

I would bet against the retrospective coming out this year. These things usually have a way of falling through the cracks, but I hope I'm wrong. I'm puzzled that Rhino hasn't planned a 25th anniversary edition release for Bella Donna.

I wasn't too pleased with what Tracy Young or Illicit did for Planets of the Universe. But I'm glad the remix introduced Stevie's music to a new audience. I'd take new material or unreleased outtakes over dance mixes.

Ginsu and Sharon -- I just wanted to let you both know that I haven't forgotten about uploading those files. For some strange reason, YouSendIt still isn't working for me.

So instead of making you wait any longer, I'm going to try something else.

Ok, I hope SendSpace works for both of you. Not sure what's up with YouSendIt, but I haven't had any luck with it since yesterday afternoon.

Thanks for the re-edited remix, Johnny! :) Think that about does it for all of Stevie's mixes. Can you or anyone help me out with those Fleetwood Mac mixes I'm looking for? Hope I'm not being a pest :o Thanks again!

Well my Dad has wired up his record player to his computer somehow and got this program that cleans up the sound i.e. takes all the crackling away and stuff. I don't know how he does it but if u give me a week I will find out. He put 'Rock a Little' on CD for me as I only had it on tape (oh yes, he can do it with tapes too) and this program removed all the tape hiss and background noise that can be caused by damage to the tape.

TheWILDHeart,

Thanks, please see if you can find out! I've got probably around 200 or so 12" singles I really want to transfer to disc. :)
