what song(s) do you think Stevie would have done a good job on...maybe better than the original?

I don't know if I think they'd be better, but I'd kill to hear Stevie's version of Call Me, These Dreams and Total Eclipse of the Heart.

Faster than the Speed of Night, It's a Jungle Out There, Total Eclipse of the Heart, Bette Davis Eyes. I did this without reading yours.

I'd also like to hear Stevie sing Stealing Kisses and You're Still Here. both by Faith Hill.

I would like to see her do more kick-ass tunes like rocknroll. I am dosed on nyquil at the moment, so I can't think of a particular song...I am out of it tonight (no chiming-in that I always am!) ;)

why didn't you share?

you still planning to hit the beach? listen to what I told you earlier.

but yeah, I agree with you here. I don't know why but I've always wanted to hear Stevie sing some of Meatloaf's big hits. (that's not really where you were going with your post, but it made me think about it)

i agree about call me. in fact, the bar next door to the place i work was playing that tonight and i had that very thought.

i'd love to hear stevie do some babs. the way we were and a sleepin' bee come to mind. and if she still had the vocal range, i think she could totally tear up cyndi lauper's sisters of avalon.

oh how that marriage license works on chamber maids and hotel clerks
the honeymoon was such delight that we got married that same night

we have so threadjacked my own thread.

haha, whoops!

when i first heard that song, i totally did not understand the implication of that honeymoon line at all ... people have sex before marriage? no way.

I think the WH/Mirage era voice would suit it best, but the Rumors era voice could have been cool and The Dance/Enchanted voice would have been way interesting.

For grins, the SA tour voice would have been cool too.

I would love to hear Stevie's version of two songs that were originally presented to her but she rejected: 'Love Will Find A Way' by Yes and 'Just Like Jesse James' which was later recorded by Cher.

I also think Stevie could do an interesting version of "Troy" by Sineaud O'Conner. But, she'd had to sing the shiitte out of it

Love "Troy" and Sinead. Love "Stay with Me". That would be incredibly perfect.
I would like her to sing "Dancing Barefoot" by Patti Smith and "Hey Pretty" by Poe. Her current voice could handle both these songs quite well.

I wish Stevie & Lindsey had recorded "I Don't Want to Spoil the Party" in a Roseanne Cash-like manner. Back around '86 ... maybe for Tango.

"ONE" by U2 or "WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE" by Guns and Roses (with Fleetwood Mac, cuz Lindsay needs to do the guitar solo.)

I am quite often listening to a song and I can't help but go right into hearing Stevie doing the song. It just comes out of nowhere. The one that comes to mind at the moment......I've been obsessively listening to Keane's Hopes And Fears album and I would really love Stevie to do "Everybody's Changing". The beat brings up visions of treadmills and I think the lyrics and melody would suit Stevie so well. I can totally see her at her mic, holding it with one hand, bouncing to the beat and singing in her sweet-forceful voice. (Not that I've given it any thought.........;) )

"Redemption Day" is perfect for her Tiff. I've always thought Sheryl Crow was channeling Stevie's harmony on that song. The low harmony. Good one!

I've been saying this for 20-25 years now, but

"Magic Man" by Heart - fits her image/persona perfectly - Stevie could do a bitchin' version of this I'm sure... come on home girl..... try to understand.... try try try to understand mama.... oooooooohhhh he's got the magic hands.... (screaming waddy guitar solo....)

also -

"Darkening of the Light" by Concrete Blonde:

And the leaves
At my feet
Whisper sounds so familiar
Whisper, so familiar, are you there
Are you there

Where the clouds
pull apart
and the moon changes faces
in the quiet, secret places
are you there are you there?

(tremendous harmony dubs on this - so Stevie - Stevie/Sharona!)

also - "Blue" by Joni Mitchell, Serrart mentioned that.... hadn't thought of that, but I agree! Love Sarah McLachlin's version of that as well!

ok, here's my fantasy tracklist ...

barbra streisand's "evergreen"
nico's "these days"
melissa etheridge's "you can sleep while i drive"
tom petty's "refugee"
barbra's "a piece of sky" (as a duet with babs, of course)
bette midler's "shiver me timbers"
bette's "the rose"
joni mitchell's "case of you"
otis reddings's "i've been loving you"
cyndi lauper's "fearless"

that's all i can come up with right now ...

"Ways To Be Wicked" (Lone Justice)
"If She Knew What She Wants" (The Bangles)
"Envy" (The Motels)
"Take The L" (The Motels)

And thank you for the comments on the banners. That's really cool about your message board. Cartoon Stevie rocks!

"Ways To Be Wicked" (Lone Justice)

Ya beat me to it. Petty wrote that one (which you probably already know).

I'd say Stevie could do a great job with a lot of Lone Justice/Maria McKee songs. Particularly "Shelter", which always sounded like a Stevie song anyway.

ELIUD
06-05-2006, 02:24 PM
"Shelter" is another great one! Along time ago...when I was a retard...I used to imagine Maria McKee was Stevie's daughter that she gave up for adoption.
