Stevie just recently answered a few new questions on the NicksFix, but i noticed she has a new quote.
From June 1st:
Hi Stevie!
Here´s Andrea from Germany!
I know Sheryl Crow is a friend of yours. It is so sad, her illness, but in the other way, she´s so tough. Ähm, how do you help her?
Speak with her or got with Sheryl to the doctors ... whatever!
I think you´ll be a true friend!
Best wishes from your fans in Germany!
Stevie's answer:
Hi Andrea, when I heard from Sheryl about her battle with breast cancer I called her immediately. She is a very dear friend, and I just wanted her to know that I was there for her. And there changed my life~
From a few weeks ago:
What one thing led you to go to Walter Reed Medical Center to see the American GI's from Iraq? I am so glad you did it meant everything to them and your words in your journal show what a wonderful heart you have. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
Stevie's answer:
My manager, who also handles Chris Isaak, had been to WRAMC with Chris. When we were scheduled to have a couple of days off in DC during our tour, she asked if I would want to go and visit the troops. And there changed my life~

It's poetic cuz Stevie is a poet, dont-ya-no-it. It alludes to her have epiphianic moments. Can you see her in a long black velvet cloak with a top hat and feathers and that pink scarf with finger thingies wrapped around her neck... she points skyward and says in her best theatrical Charles Dickens character voice...
"And there... changed my LIFE!!!"
I love it... it's quite Victorian. However, I would never use it in my own everyday life. It just doesn't fit. But it fits her very well.

Yes...however grammatically awkward it might be.

one word:
depressing.
i'm becoming quite dismayed with stevie of late. i don't know if it's because i am discovering new artists who are vibrant and engaged and interesting. but this kind of drivel, from the woman whose words i have lived by, respected, and wanted to write... just brings me nothing. :(

What?! Do you want a new song every time she responds to a question?!
What I got from "and there changed my life" was that when someone close to you gets struck with something as serious as breast cancer it "hits home" and makes it more real. Not only is a loved one's life threatened, but you take a closer look at your own "mortality". Hey , this could have happened to me. It just makes you more aware and puts things into perspective.

I'm thinking if she had used a comma ("and there, changed my life") it would have made more sense. It was awkwardly worded, but I know what she meant (at least I think I do). Basically she's saying, "right there, my life changed."

maybe they're trying to make the responses sound more quintessentially "stevie" since there's been some doube she's been writing them?

It just makes you more aware and puts things into perspective. Exactly. I think it is about helping people. IMO She sees a need and does everything, even if that means making changes to her life, so she can fulfill someone with her special gifts and definitely provide a soft shoulder. I love how she "speaks" to me...no matter the grammar...I "hear" what she is saying.

I think she meant "therefore" and that wouldn't be totally correct either but grammar is irrelevant to poetry. Her's anyway.

I think that fact that she was there for 12 hours says alot! She's made numerous trips to Walter Reed (the latest was about 2 weeks ago), without the press, photo ops, etc., I would be so incredibly depressed after one visit to Walter Reed, and to spend 12 hours with them is very giving of her. I think she's saying how the soliders and Sheryl's illness has deeply affected her. I just love her!

yeppers. to have been a communications major, she sucks at it at times (which leaves various interpretations that get her ass in trouble sometimes for not being clear), but those of us "in the know" have no problem understanding her...it's the less chiffonistic that have a hard time

It seems to be her new mantra. Or perhaps she is writing a biography entitled 'And There Changed My Life' and these messages are all subliminal. ;)

Stevie has a huge heart and I love her ditzy lines even when I don't truly understand them.
I get the sense that Stevie is in a very reflective period of her life, given her father's passing, her experience with the soldiers, Sheryl's health issues.

wow - i'm such an occasional poster these days, i didn't think anyone would notice my one answer, nevermind be aware of my recent posts.
i think my overall feeling right now is that i, and everone here, and many more people out there, have been fans for so long. we are SO dedicated to stevie - she can do little wrong. but i sort of wish she'd either retire fully, or give us something new to get excited about. right now, she's sort of in a halfway holding pattern. she's touring - fabulous - but why not change up the set? (and don't rag on me - i know she's added a few new songs. i mean lose outside the rain, dreams, enchanted, etc etc etc). she does the "ask stevie" but the answers tell us nothing - no insight, no interest. she appears not to be planning to record anything new. if she's not interested in giving her fans anything new, why not just retire? i don't know - i don't mean to sound so negative, but with all the great new music out there, really talented artists (and no, i don't mean mainstream stuff being played on the radio), i need her to give me something to get excited about. i don't mean to offend anyone with my answers - they just reflect my own personal feelings right now.

Between the bat mitzfahs and the things Stevie says, the Peter Jennings (may he rest in peace) comments are the classic Stevie I will never forget. Stevie is in her own world. I guess. She does try to help people though.

Stevie is in her own world. I guess. As Timothy White said about her long, long ago . . .
"Most of us would like a temporary respite from life's serrated edges, and a few of us have secret gardens of imagination into which we occasionally steal. The difference between Stevie Nicks and the rest of the world is that, given a choice, she usually opts for the never-never land, and she brings along a lunch pail and a pup tent."

Sadly, I'm starting to feel this way too....I haven't even visited the NicksFix in ages...there is never anything new and the Ask Stevie answers don't really interest me.
I still love and adore her music - but my Stevie fanatic ways are waning.

I still love and adore her music - but my Stevie fanatic ways are waning. My hunch is that the waning will continue to roll down the highway with you (with occasional fits of waxing) as you get older & older.
My fanaticism waned over the years. Way back when, I never thought it would or possibly could. But it did. When I hear kids say these days how much they love Stevie or Fleetwood & how much they will always love them, it's just deja vu to me. I don't mean to make myself sound like the Elder Statesman or something equally stupid, but the feeling in one is sort of like that of parents watching kids behave in ways that spark memories of exactly the same behavior in those parents so long before. It's like that generation gap feuding that goes on every generation: both the succeeding & the preceding generations have blinders on to an extent (although I think the blinders are bigger on the succeeding generation most of the time). All of that is probably some of what makes me occasionally nasty to younger or newer fans. I just don't like hearing from them how I fall short somehow as a human being for not unconditionally loving Fleetwood Mac--because not only is it arrogant in itself to say that about me or anyone else but it's also so shortsighted (which they can't see at that stage), but I can't make my case because only the passage of time will demonstrate it. And when, years down the line, these same wide-eyed fanatics express disdain with Stevie or Fleetwood, it's all I can do not to arrogantly cluck or reopen the subject with a neener-neener.
