I'm confused because some folks on the other board say GDW was written in 1974 or something like that. But I thought it was written after Stevie joined FM. I thought she wrote it during the strenuous fall 1975 tour in Phoenix when she was sick with whatever & she wrote GDW & Sisters about whether she could physically survive FM or not, & her parents looked at her funny & that brought on something shameful & perhaps even guilt.

When do you think Stevie wrote GDW?

I'm not sure about when GDW was written, but I'm almost positive SOTM was written later. I have an interview where Stevie talks about what you mention...seeing her reflection in the mirror and not recognizing herself...pale, blonde and extremely skinny...then she wrote SOTM.

I think it's most likely Stevie wrote in in 1975, or very early '76. She has said that one of the things that inspired the song, were the groupies who'd hang out backstage and give her and Christine dirty looks.

In addition to writing it about the groupies back stage, we all know it's about the "snow" too - but what a great song! I've always loved how it sounds. David - what was it like seeing her sing it "all messed up"? You got to see her back in her party days - I bet that was something!

I just watched her on tape the other day of the '83 Festival - she was trippin'! I couldn't believe she crawled up to the last level of the stage to get back up, that would've been kinda embarassing! Anyway, off subject.
